It becomes one of the main buildings for LS&A used by Departments of History, Sociology and Journalism. The old Law Library became a study hall and Bureau of Government Library. Angell Hall--Addition

Smith, Hinchman & Grylls, architects. Bryant & Detwiler, contractor. In 1951/1952 Haven Hall (south side) and Mason Hall (north) were added to the east or diagonal side of Angell Hall. View from south.

Heating Plant

In 1879 a campus heating plant and coal sheds were built on central campus just east of University Hall. In 1894, a new heating plant was built at the southeast corner of central campus. The University Hall heating plant was used by Buildings and Grounds from 1894-1915. From 1915-1923 the building was used as a fire station. On verso: Photographed in 1887 by A.L. Conton of '89

West Engineering Annex

Profs. J.B. Davis & Mortimer Cooley, architects? Engineering Shops from 1885-1923. Later used as West Engineering Annex 1923. Architecture Dept. in east wing 1923-1927; Survey Dept. in east wing 1927; Auto Lab in west wing; part of Auto Lab destroyed by fire 1937; rest demolished 1956.
