A rewiew of the subgenus Trichopygomyia Barretto, 1962; with description of a new species from the brazilian Amazon Basin (Diptera: Psychodidae, Phlebotominae)

The subgenus Trichopygomyia Barreto, 1962 of the phlebotomine genus Lutzomyia França, 1924 is reviewed. This subgenus corresponds to the informal species group longispina of Theodor (1965). Lutzomyia (Trichopygomya) ratcliffei n.sp. from the Brazilian Amazon Basin is described. Figures, keys, distribution maps and notes on ecology are presented for all the known forms. The better known species are most frequently encountered in armadillo burrows and, therefore, could well be vectors of Leishmania.

Lymnaea columella: two new Brazilian localities in the states of Amazonas and Bahia

The occurrence of Lymnaea columella is recorded in Tefé, Amazonas state, where it was found together with Drepanotrema anatinum, Physa marmorata and pomacea sp. L. columella was also collected in Salvador, Bahia state, at the dique do Tororó, an urban lake formely mentioned (as "lac Baril") by Moricand (1853) as a breeding-place of Biomphalaria glabrata, Drepanotrema cimex, D. depressissimum, Pomacea lineata, P. decussata and Ancylus moricandi. The four first-mentioned species, as well as physa cubensis and Hemisinus brasiliensis, were also collected now. This is the first record of a lymnaeid in the Northeastern region of Brazil.

Dinosoma clupeola sp. n. (Hemiuridae) and Pseudoacanthostomum floridensis Nahhas & Short, 1965 (Acanthostomidae), digenetic trematodes in Brazilian Marine fishes

Dinosoma clupeola sp. n. is described from Harengula clupeola, and resembles D. hawaiiense Yamaguti, 1970, from which it differs in the entire, elongate-saccular seminal vesicle, tegument weakly plicated, smaller size of body and internal organs, and slightly larger and narrower eggs. Pseudoacanthostomum floridensis Nahhas & Short, 1965 is referred to Netuma barba, which represents a new host record.

First known brazilian species of the genera Scutops and Neoscutops (Diptera: Periscelididae), with comments on the relationships among the species in each genus

Four new species of Periscelididae are described from Brazil - Neoscutops cariri, sp. n., and Scutops marcgrafi sp. n., from the northern extreme of the Atlantic Forest, S. lopesi, sp. n., from southeastern Brazil, and S. goianiensis, from central Brazil. S. chapmani is herein synonymezed to S. fascipennis. A key is provided for the known species of Neoscutops and Scutops. A brief discussion is made about the possiblem phylogenetic relationships among the species of each of these two genera.

Schikhobalotrema solitaria sp. n. and S. acanthuri Yamaguti, 1970 (Haplosplanchnidae: Digenea) in Brazilian marine fishes

Schikhobalotrema solitaria sp. n. is described from Stephanolepis hispidus (Linnaeus, 1758), and is characterized by the relation between oral sucker and pharynx 1:1,1. This Relation in the other species ranges between 1:0.3-0.6. It is more similar to S. manteri Siddiqi & Cable, 1960 in the distribution of vitellaria, differing from it in the size of vitelline follicles, extension of uterus and in the size of the eggs. S. acanthuri Yamaguti, 1970 is referred for the first time in South America in Mugil liza Valenciennes, 1836 representing a new host record.
