Mucho de "mi coraçón" y de "mi alma" y de "mis entrañas": tratamientos nominales en las relaciones amorosas en el siglo XVI

Este trabajo de investigación doctoral se centra en el estudio de los tratamientos nominales. Su título, “Mucho de «mi coraçón» y de «mi alma» y de «mis entrañas»: tratamientos nominales en las relaciones amorosas en el siglo XVI”, contiene una cita de una de las obras del corpus que es significativa de parte del trabajo que se ha realizado. En ella uno de los personajes de la Segunda Celestina, el mozo de espuelas Pandulfo aconseja a su amo Felides sobre cómo tratar a las mujeres para “alcançar muger” y “concluir sus amores”. A su juicio, debe dejarse de “retóricas elevadas” ya que las mujeres no tienen capacidad para entenderlas. Además le propone los tratamientos nominales que debe utilizar cuando le escriba cartas. Este comentario metapragmático es de gran interés, sobre todo al contrastarlo con lo que ocurre en la realidad: Felides no hará caso a su criado y le escribirá una carta en que encabezará con señora mía a Polandria, en la que despertará el interés de la joven. Este tratamiento, el único que utiliza en la carta, es deferencial pero también contiene una implicación afectiva: la forma de respeto SEÑOR (que ya de por sí remite a un ambiente de vasallaje típico del amor cortés en el que la mujer es la señora y el que declara su amor se considera su vasallo), se combina con el posesivo, por lo que además es “su señora” y lo introduce de lleno en el ámbito de la afectividad. Por otra parte Pandulfo, con la intención de ayudar a su amo, escribe una nueva carta haciéndose pasar por él en la que pone en práctica los consejos que le ha dado, y entre otras cosas, añade varios tratamientos nominales: Señora de mis entrañas y amores de mi alma; mi alma (2); señora mía; coraçón y entrañas. Además de la cantidad de apelativos en comparación con la carta de Felides a pesar de ser más corta, las designaciones que emplea tienden a la afectividad empleando formas que aluden al amor (la misma base léxica AMOR, pero también CORAZÓN, ENTRAÑAS y ALMA). La destinataria de la carta desde un primer momento en su lectura se da cuenta de que las palabras que ha recibido, las que denomina “badajadas” y que considera una “gran necedad”, no pueden ser de su pretendiente, pues están escritas “en la lengua de Pandulfo, o de otros tales moços de espuelas como él”. La frecuencia exagerada de los tratamientos nominales y su elección contribuye con toda seguridad a la reacción de Polandria: se trata de un ejemplo de la distribución sociolingüística de estas formas, que además se corresponde no sólo con los usos que ha propuesto el criado, sino también con las tendencias de utilización de los apelativos en este corpus, donde los personajes presentan diferencias de frecuencia de utilización y de tipo de designación empleadas según su procedencia social...

Tunable single- and dual-wavelength SHG from diode-pumped PPKTP waveguides

A compact, all-room-temperature, widely tunable, continuous wave laser source in the green spectral region (502.1–544.2 nm) with a maximum output power of 14.7 mW is demonstrated. This was made possible by utilizing second-harmonic generation (SHG) in a periodically poled potassium titanyl phosphate (PPKTP) crystal waveguide pumped by a quantum-well external-cavity fiber-coupled diode laser and exploiting the multimode-matching approach in nonlinear crystal waveguides. The dual-wavelength SHG in the wavelength region between 505.4 and 537.7 nm (with a wavelength difference ranging from 1.8 to 32.3 nm) and sum-frequency generation in a PPKTP waveguide is also demonstrated.

Superior color rendering with a phosphor-converted blue-cyan monolithic light-emitting diode

The future generation of modern illumination should not only be cheap and highly efficient, but also demonstrate high quality of light, light which allows better color differentiation and fidelity. Here we are presenting a novel approach to create a white solid-state light source providing ultimate color rendition necessary for a number of applications. The proposed semi-hybrid device combines a monolithic blue-cyan light emitting diode (MBC LED) with a green-red phosphor mixture. It has shown a superior color rendering index (CRI), 98.6, at correlated color temperature of around 3400 K. The MBC LED epi-structure did not suffer from the efficiency reduction typical for monolithic multi-color emitters and was implemented in the two most popular chip designs: “epi-up” and “flip-chip”. Redistribution of the blue and cyan band amplitudes in the white-light emission spectrum, using the operating current, is found to be an effective tool for fine tuning the color characteristics. Pursuing justice for refugee students: addressing issues of cultural (mis)recognition

In this paper Nancy Fraser’s conceptual tools are drawn on to theorise issues of justice in a culturally diverse primary school in Australia where approximately 30% of the student population are immigrant/refugees. The paper examines justice issues of cultural recognition in relation to refugee student identity, behaviour and assessment. Drawing on interview data from a study that sought to identify productive approaches to addressing equity for refugee students, the paper highlights the school’s efforts to remedy issues of cultural misrecognition associated with an equation of refugee student difference and marginality with deficit and lack. Such efforts relate to the school’s endeavours to create an inclusive and socially cohesive environment that supports a valuing of, and connection to, refugee student difference. These endeavours are theorised as highly productive in their capacity to disrupt the relations of cultural domination, non-recognition and disrespect that exclude and/or malign some refugee students at the school and broader level. The paper argues the importance of such an approach in light of the unprecedented diversity and complexity of the global context where schools are consistently challenged with new and changing equity concerns and priorities.

Single diode model parameters analysis of photovoltaic cell

In this paper it is proposed to obtain enhanced and more efficient parameters model from generalized five parameters (single diode) model of PV cells. The paper also introduces, describes and implements a seven parameter model for photovoltaic cell (PV cell) which includes two internal parameters and five external parameters. To obtain the model the mathematical equations and an equivalent circuit consisting of a photo generated current source, a series resistor, a shunt resistor and a diode is used. The fundamental equation of PV cell is used to analyse and best fit the observation data. Especially bisection iteration method is used to obtain the expected result and to understand the deviation of changes in different parameters situation at various conditions respectively. The produced model can be used of measuring and understanding the actions of photovoltaic cells for certain changes and parameters extraction. The effect is also studied with I-V and P-V characteristics of PV cells though it is a challenge to optimize the output with real time simulation. The working procedure is also discussed and an experiment presented to get the closure and insight about the produced model and to decide upon the model validity. At the end, we observed that the result of the simulation is very close to the produced model.
