Quelques mastodontes miocènes du Portugal

From a paleontological point of view previous determinations for some specimens as Tetralophodon longirostris can be confirmed from Azambujeira (upper level), Valverde and Vale de Matança. A so far undescribed and rare D3 (from Azambujeira, middle level) has been studied. For the first time in Portugal a Gomphotherium angustidens transitional to «Tetralophodon» grandincisivus is reported (from Portas do Sol). Teeth from Lisbon formerly reported (in part) to T. longirostris are now ascribed to G. angustidens. The presence of T. longirostris at Vale de Matança excludes a Pliocene age for Marateca Formation. This and some other evidence clearly points out towards an early Vallesian age. G. angustidens transitional to T. grandincisivus found at Portas do Sol is enough to ascribe this locality to the latest Middle Miocene or earliest Upper Miocene. Therefore it is possible to correlate overlying Santarém limestones to the Vallesian Cartaxo and Almoster ones which are better dated.

In the southern part of Tagus basin, North of paleozoic rocks of Valverde-Senhor das Chagas (near Alcácer do Sal) horst, a marine transgression has been recognized, Upper Serravallian, and maybe Lower Tortonian in age. There are no earlier marine deposits, and no younger ones are known either. Paleozoic behaved as a barrier separating two basins, distinct at least since Middle Miocene until Upper Pleistocene. Until now, both were regarded as a single entity, the so-called «Sado basin» Southwards (Alvalade basin) there has been a single transgression. It was assummed that it was the same one as the former. Indeed it is not definitely so. Later transgression accounts for Esbarrondadoiro Formation, whose deposits have been ascribed to Tortonian or even to Middle Miocene. However they are Upper Messinian to Lower Zanclean. Esbarrondadoiro Formation is younger than Lower Member of Cacela Formation in Algarve and, with even stronger reason, than the upper-most well dated marine levels in Tagus basin. Age of Miocene units dealt with here has been based on small mammals found in marine sands.

Paralophiodon cf. leptorhynchum (tapiroidea, mammalia) à Vale Furado: contribution à la connaissance de l’éocène au Portugal

A canine tooth from Vale Furado is classified as Paralophiodon cf. leptorhynchum. The genus Paralophiodon indicates an age from Lower Lutetian to Auversian, Middle Eocene. As it belongs in the lineage of P. leptorhynchum, possible age span is furth~L~uced from Middle Lutetian to Auversian. This conclusion remains valid or nearly so even in the less probable case of confusion with some form included in P. isselensis lineage. Our previous (1975) datation for sandstones and pelites from Vale Furado is thus confirmed, and more accurately recognized. Paralophiodon and the crocodilian Iberosuchus are a rather sound basis for correlation with stratigraphical units near Zamora and Salamanca in Spain.

Anoplotherium (mammalia, artiodactyla) et geochelone (reptilia, testudines) à côja: les vertebras fossils et l’éocène supérieur au Portugal

A mammal (Anoplotherium cf. commune) and a land tortoise (Geochelone is. gen.] sp.) from the Ludian (Uppermost Eocene) locality of Côja have been identified. Age can be more accurately established now, from level 3 to level 5 in the Ludian stage, probably 4. Relationships between Côja's feldspathic sands, a correlative unit «Arenitos de Vale Furado», and the paroxysmal phase of pyrenean orogeny are confirmed.

Évolution de la végétation et du climat pendant le miocène au Portugal

These work presents the quantitative and qualitative inventory and the stratigraphic distribution of fossil plants (spores, pollens, sterns, leaves and seeds) recognized the Miocene of the portuguese part of Tagus basin. For each lithostratigraphic unit, associations with ecological (paleoclimatic) meaning are defined. It was also possible to follow the evolution of the vegetation and the climate during the considered cronostratigraphic interval which includes most of the Miocene (Aquitanian to lower-middle Tortonian).

Chromian spinels in the basalts from the Lisbon volcanic complex (portugal) and their petrogenetic implications

Chromian spinels are common in the late Cretaceous alkali basalts of the Lisbon volcanic Complex in Portugal. They occur as unzoned inclusions in magnesian olivines of all basalt types and as large spectacularly zoned grains in the groundmass of porphyritic basalts. Microprobe analysis indicate complex cationic exchange in the groundmass zoned spinels due to simple peritectic reactions and in response to changing composition of the basalt liquid. The variation of cationic distribution in zoned chromian-Spinels, reflects very accurately the changing chemistry of the cooling silicate melt and the paragenetical relations of mineral oxides and silicates. Crystallization of initial chromian spinels occurred at T~1200°C and fO2~10-8.5 atm. earlier or contemporaneously with magnesian olivine. The titanomagnetite mantles of zoned chromian spinels crystallized at T~1200°C and much lower fO2.

Este artigo visa discutir, sob enfoque comparativo, a descentralização da educação no Brasil e em Portugal a partir da década de 1990, isto com base na revisão da literatura pertinente e dos marcos jurídicos que vieram regulá-la, procurando problematizar as relações interinstitucionais que medeiam este processo, no Brasil, sob a ótica do regime de colaboração e, em Portugal, segundo as relações estabelecidas entre os poderes central e local. Como conclusão mais geral, constata que, apesar de o poder central vir difundindo o discurso da descentralização nestes países, já há algum tempo, tudo leva a crer que o plano da retórica não logrou ser efetivamente superado, pois entre avanços e recuos deste processo as tentativas vêm se constituindo em movimentos de alguma desconcentração de poderes, ainda marcados pela mesma lógica centralizadora, herança histórico-social, em ambos os casos, dos seus respectivos períodos ditatoriais, agora também sob a modulação de políticas econômicas neoliberalizantes.
