This paper introduces a new variant of the Traveling Car Renter Problem, named Prizecollecting Traveling Car Renter Problem. In this problem, a set of vertices, each associated with a bonus, and a set of vehicles are given. The objective is to determine a cycle that visits some vertices collecting, at least, a pre-defined bonus, and minimizing the cost of the tour that can be traveled with different vehicles. A mathematical formulation is presented and implemented in a solver to produce results for sixty-two instances. The proposed problem is also subject of an experimental study based on the algorithmic application of four metaheuristics representing the best adaptations of the state of the art of the heuristic programming.We also provide new local search operators which exploit the neighborhoods of the problem, construction procedures and adjustments, created specifically for the addressed problem. Comparative computational experiments and performance tests are performed on a sample of 80 instances, aiming to offer a competitive algorithm to the problem. The northern portion of the Rio Grande do Norte State is characterized by intense coastal dynamics affecting areas with ecosystems of moderate to high environmental sensitivity. In this region are installed the main socioeconomic activities of RN State: salt industry, shrimp farm, fruit industry and oil industry. The oil industry suffers the effects of coastal dynamic action promoting problems such as erosion and exposure of wells and pipelines along the shore. Thus came the improvement of such modifications, in search of understanding of the changes which causes environmental impacts with the purpose of detecting and assessing areas with greater vulnerability to variations. Coastal areas under influence oil industry are highly vulnerable and sensitive in case of accidents involving oil spill in the vicinity. Therefore, it was established the geoenvironmental monitoring of the region with the aim of evaluating the entire coastal area evolution and check the sensitivity of the site on the presence of oil. The goal of this work was the implementation of a computer system that combines the needs of insertion and visualization of thematic maps for the generation of Environmental Vulnerability maps, using techniques of Business Intelligence (BI), from vector information previously stored in the database. The fundamental design interest was to implement a more scalable system that meets the diverse fields of study and make the appropriate system for generating online vulnerability maps, automating the methodology so as to facilitate data manipulation and fast results in cases of real time operational decision-making. In database development a geographic area was established the conceptual model of the selected data and Web system was done using the template database PostgreSQL, PostGis spatial extension, Glassfish Web server and the viewer maps Web environment, the GeoServer. To develop a geographic database it was necessary to generate the conceptual model of the selected data and the Web system development was done using the PostgreSQL database system, its spatial extension PostGIS, the web server Glassfish and GeoServer to display maps in Web

The Baixa grande fault is located on the edge of the S-SW Potiguar Rift. It limits the south part of Umbuzeiro Graben and the Apodi Graben. Although a number of studies have associated the complex deformation styles in the hanging wall of the Baixa Grande Fault with geometry and displacement variations, none have applied the modern computational techniques such as geometrical and kinematic validations to address this problem. This work proposes a geometric analysis of the Baixa Fault using seismic interpretation. The interpretation was made on 3D seismic data of the Baixa Grande fault using the software OpendTect (dGB Earth Sciences). It was also used direct structural modeling, such as Analog Direct Modeling know as Folding Vectors and, 2D and 3D Direct Computational Modeling. The Folding Vectors Modeling presented great similarity with the conventional structural seismic interpretations of the Baixa Grande Fault, thus, the conventional interpretation was validated geometrically. The 2D direct computational modeling was made on some sections of the 3D data of the Baixa Grande Fault on software Move (Midland Valley Ltd) using the horizon modeling tool. The modeling confirms the influence of fault geometry on the hanging wall. The Baixa Grande Fault ramp-flat-ramp geometry generates synform on the concave segments of the fault and antiform in the convex segments. On the fault region that does not have segments angle change, the beds are dislocated without deformation, and on the listric faults occur rollover. On the direct 3D computational modeling, structural attributes were obtained as horizons on the hanging wall of the main fault, after the simulation of several levels of deformation along the fault. The occurrence of structures that indicates shortening in this modeling, also indicates that the antiforms on the Baixa Grande Fault were influenced by fault geometry

This work deals with noise removal by the use of an edge preserving method whose parameters are automatically estimated, for any application, by simply providing information about the standard deviation noise level we wish to eliminate. The desired noiseless image u(x), in a Partial Differential Equation based model, can be viewed as the solution of an evolutionary differential equation u t(x) = F(u xx, u x, u, x, t) which means that the true solution will be reached when t ® ¥. In practical applications we should stop the time ''t'' at some moment during this evolutionary process. This work presents a sufficient condition, related to time t and to the standard deviation s of the noise we desire to remove, which gives a constant T such that u(x, T) is a good approximation of u(x). The approach here focused on edge preservation during the noise elimination process as its main characteristic. The balance between edge points and interior points is carried out by a function g which depends on the initial noisy image u(x, t0), the standard deviation of the noise we want to eliminate and a constant k. The k parameter estimation is also presented in this work therefore making, the proposed model automatic. The model's feasibility and the choice of the optimal time scale is evident through out the various experimental results.

In this work we study a transmission problem for the model of beams developed by S.P. Timoshenko [10]. We consider the case of mixed material, that is, a part of the beam has friction and the other is purely elastic. We show that for this type of material, the dissipation produced by the frictional part is strong enough to produce exponential decay of the solution, no matter how small is its size. We use the method of energy to prove exponential decay for the solution.

Alternant codes over arbitrary finite commutative local rings with identity are constructed in terms of parity-check matrices. The derivation is based on the factorization of x s - 1 over the unit group of an appropriate extension of the finite ring. An efficient decoding procedure which makes use of the modified Berlekamp-Massey algorithm to correct errors and erasures is presented. Furthermore, we address the construction of BCH codes over Zm under Lee metric.

In this work we present constructions of algebraic lattices in Euclidean space with optimal center density in dimensions 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 12, which are rotated versions of the lattices Λn, for n = 2,3,4,6,8 and K12. These algebraic lattices are constructed through twisted canonical homomorphism via ideals of a ring of algebraic integers. Mathematical subject classification: 18B35, 94A15, 20H10.

One of the main goals of the pest control is to maintain the density of the pest population in the equilibrium level below economic damages. For reaching this goal, the optimal pest control problem was divided in two parts. In the first part, the two optimal control functions were considered. These functions move the ecosystem pest-natural enemy at an equilibrium state below the economic injury level. In the second part, the one optimal control function stabilizes the ecosystem in this level, minimizing the functional that characterizes quadratic deviations of this level. The first problem was resolved through the application of the Maximum Principle of Pontryagin. The Dynamic Programming was used for the resolution of the second optimal pest control problem.

Este artigo apresenta uma pesquisa que é resultado de cursos online de formação continuada de professores, concebidos a partir de uma parceria entre a UNESP e uma rede nacional de escolas de Ensino Básico. Os cursos buscavam familiarizar os professores de Matemática com os recursos da tecnologia informática, especificamente dois softwares, o Geometricks e o Winplot, no que diz respeito à utilização destes na sala de aula. Após alguns anos da realização dos mesmos, na pesquisa aqui descrita, objetivamos identificar se e como os softwares foram incorporados à prática profissional, em um cenário em que os professores podem contar com laboratórios, formação continuada e suporte técnico. A partir de entrevistas online, pudemos mapear as diferentes escolhas dos professores: não-uso; uso de forma semelhante (ou não) à vivenciada no curso online, e o uso interdisciplinar, mostrando variadas formas pelas quais os professores retraduziram o curso para sua prática.

Este estudo visou analisar as pesquisas em Modelagem Matemática na área da Educação Matemática no Brasil, investigando os trabalhos que adotam esse enfoque, publicados nos anais do 3º. Seminário Internacional de Pesquisa em Educação Matemática, em 2007. A postura assumida é a fenomenológica, e as interpretações são pautadas no movimento hermenêutico, que aponta para uma metacompreensão do tema. Os núcleos de ideias emergem dos invariantes articulados no processo de efetuar convergências, como, por exemplo, a pesquisa que se centra prioritariamente nos modos pelos quais o professor trabalha tópicos de conteúdos matemáticos com o recurso da modelagem. Esse invariante elucidativo pode indicar fragilidades quando os pesquisadores permanecem apenas no como fazer; pode também indicar possibilidades de compreender concepções e sua conversão em práticas desenvolvidas em sala de aula.

Esta pesquisa busca trabalhar com diferentes concepções de mundo e de conhecimento, investigando a articulação entre o sentido que elas possuem para os professores de Matemática e suas concepções de ensino e de Educação. O estudo gira em torno de discussões que ocorreram em um curso de extensão para professores de Matemática. Esse curso tratou de concepções de mundo e de conhecimento, relacionando-as com diferentes regiões do saber, como Matemática, Física, Ecologia e Artes, focando a transição entre a concepção de mundo da Época Moderna para a concepção de mundo que vem se construindo na denominada Época Pós-moderna ou Contemporânea. A meta é compreender o sentido que aquelas concepções têm para os professores e destacar possíveis momentos de metacompreensão sobre a articulação entre essas concepções e sua prática docente. A metodologia utilizada é qualitativa, de uma perspectiva fenomenológica.

Muitos elementos que fornecem informações para a escrita da história apresentam direcionamentos representativos de uma forma de pensamento, seja ela política, filosófica ou de cunho social. Esses elementos são trabalhados para que se tenha uma visão específica da história. O objetivo deste texto é, por meio de alguns exemplos, discutir que existem diferentes formas de análise dos elementos que nos fornecem informações históricas, com destaque para a História da Ciência, especificamente para a História da Matemática. Quanto maior for a quantidade de informações sobre determinados acontecimentos históricos, maior é a possibilidade de se obter um encadeamento histórico, firmado em bases qualitativas, que sustente a informação adquirida. Se essas informações forem escassas, ou originárias de fontes duvidosas, as conclusões históricas referentes ao assunto tratado ficam frágeis e passíveis de diferentes e, muitas vezes, conflitantes interpretações. Neste texto, pretende-se apresentar alguns exemplos históricos onde, por conta de poucas informações, ou informações distorcidas, a interpretação histórica é passível de mudanças.
