Since UCB didn't have its own marine lab at the time, it rented space at Hopkins Marine Station where this work was done. Cadet Hand earned his Ph.D. from Berkeley and went on to become Director of the Bodega Marine Laboratory. Headjogs: Highlighting success through innovation

Headjogs is a well established hair academy within the Essex and East of London region. This work-based learning provider is run by Stephen Daly, Director, and Debbie Scott. Around six months ago, Debbie participated in the e-Guides programme, where she gained the expertise to implement innovative technology into the curriculum. Since then they have received Association of Learning Providers (ALP) Learner Innovation Grant funding with which they plan to reinforce their innovative approach to hairdressing.

Connectivity: Science, people and policy in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary

Executive Summary: The Connectivity Colloquium evolved from an exhortation by Dan Basta, Director of the National Marine Sanctuary Program, to come together and assess what we know about the condition of our natural resources, identify information gaps and how to fill them, and transform science and management from an emphasis on documentation to a nexus for action. This purpose in some ways reflects the initiation of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary itself, which was designated by an act of the U.S. Congress in 1990 in the aftermath of the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska and three major ship groundings of the Florida Reef Tract in late 1989. Over the next seven years NOAA worked with federal, state, and local partners to develop a comprehensive management plan for the Sanctuary implemented under a co-trustee partnership between NOAA and the State of Florida. How can IT professionals make the step into leadership roles?

Last year, Jisc began work with EDUCAUSE - the US organisation for IT professionals in higher education - to find out the skillset of the CIO of the future. One of the findings of our project was that many aspiring technology leaders find it difficult to make the step up. Louisa Dale, director Jisc group sector intelligence, talks through the learnings and opens a call for IT professionals to get involved in the next phase of work.
