This descriptive study aimed to investigate what changes of emotional states more sensitive to internal and external influences and to investigate the motivating factors and stressors in basketball players of a Regional Championship of the Interior . Study subjects were 56 (fifty - six) athletes, members of 05 (five) highest ranked teams in the competition. As a measuring tool used the Frester ‟sP sychicLoad Test (1972, apud SAMULSKI, CHAGAS, 1992) . Data analys used descriptive statistics. The findings showed that the facts considered as motivators during the competition were: the audience, the fact of constantly thinking on achieving the desirable aims, and the establishment of very high aims; the stressful factors were: disagreements and conflicts with the coach, partners or family, bad sleeping the night before the competition, excessive nervousness and to be prejudiced by the referees . Therefore, we can conclude: the facts that influence the interest can be of motivating or stressful order , depending on the personal and situational perception; most athletes characterized the competiti ve sport as more stressful than motivating, and this assessment influenced by constant pressure of intrinsic and extrinsic factors that athletes suffers during the competitive environment

Objective To assess the expression of rabies virus G-glycoprotein (RVGP) expression using Semliki Forest virus as a vector in combination with BHK-21 cells cultured in suspension. Results A multilevel factorial design was used to quantify effects of temperature (33–37 C), fresh medium addition after the viral adsorption step (100–200 % with respect to the initial cell suspension volume before infection) and harvest time (8–40 h) on RVGP production. Experimental runs were performed in 24-well cell culture plates at a multiplicity of infection (MOI) of 16. An additional experiment in spinner-flask was performed at MOI of 9, using the optimal conditions determined in cell culture plates. Values for temperature, fresh medium addition and harvest time of 33 C, 100 % and 16 h, respectively, ensured the optimal RVGP production in culture plates. The volumetric yield (239 ng ml-1 ) in these conditions was higher than that reported previously for adherent cell culture. In spinner-flasks, the volumetric yield was improved (559 ng ml-1 ). Conclusion These results establish the basis for designing bioprocess to produce RVGP.

H5N1 Influenza Virus in Wild Birds: A Fact Sheet Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus H5N1 and Wild Birds What are avian influenza viruses? What is a Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza virus? What is “Bird Flu” and what is “HPAI H5N1”? What do we know about avian influenza viruses in wild birds? Do we have HPAI H5N1 in North America? Is there currently a public health risk associated with HPAI H5N1 in wild birds? Is there a domestic animal health risk associated with HPAI in wild birds? What is the possibility of HPAI H5N1 entering North America via migratory wild birds? What is the possibility of this virus being maintained in wild bird populations? Do we have surveillance for HPAI H5N1 in the United States? Additional information on HPAI can be found at these websites: The recognized geographic and species distribution of chronic wasting disease (CWD) has expanded since early September 2005 to include Hampshire County in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia National Fish and Wildlife Health Initiative Guiding Principles Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) virus was isolated from seven white-tailed deer in southwestern Michigan during September 2005 During the past summer, more than 500 head of livestock in North Dakota and South Dakota were lost to one of the largest recorded anthrax outbreaks in U.S. history. Most of the losses were in cattle, but horses, bison, and farm-reared elk also were affected. Dr. John Fischer, Director of SCWDS, has received this year’s Special Recognition Award from the International Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (IAFWA). Dr. William Randolph Davidson is retiring in November 2005.
