A symmetry reduction technique for higher order Painleve systems

The symmetry reduction of higher order Painleve systems is formulated in terms of Dirac procedure. A set of canonical variables that admit Dirac reduction procedure is proposed for Hamiltonian structures governing the A(2M)((1)) and A(2M-1)((1)) Painleve systems for M = 2,3,.... Breaking down the Fermi acceleration with inelastic collisions

The phenomenon of Fermi acceleration is addressed for a dissipative bouncing ball model with external stochastic perturbation. It is shown that the introduction of energy dissipation (inelastic collisions of the particle with the moving wall) is a sufficient condition to break down the process of Fermi acceleration. The phase transition from bounded to unbounded energy growth in the limit of vanishing dissipation is characterized.

Cervicovaginal aerobic microflora of women with spontaneous abortion or preterm delivery in Araraquara-Brazil

Rotina bacteriológica do conteúdo vaginal e cervical de 22 mulheres com histórico de aborto recente ou ruptura precoce das membranas foi realizada. Chlamydia trachomatis, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus agalactiae, Candida sp e Gardnerella vaginalis foram isolados em 54,5% (12) das pacientes. Apesar de Ureaplasma urealyticum ter sido frequentemente encontrado (45,5%), somente em 5 das 22 mulheres foi o único microrganismo presente nos materiais analisados. Esses resultados chamam a atenção para a importância de investigação quantitativa bem como qualitativa da microbiota genital em gestantes, tendo em vista ter consequências na gestação.

Approximate analytical states of a polynomial potential: an example of symmetry restoration

An approximate analytical expression for the first two eigenvalues of the Schrodinger equation for the potential V(x) = Ax(4) + Bx(2) is achieved by using the Symanzik scaling symmetry. The symmetry group of Z(q)(n) in the Lee space and the Z(qn)-linear codes

The Z(4)-linearity is a construction technique of good binary codes. Motivated by this property, we address the problem of extending the Z(4)-linearity to Z(q)n-linearity. In this direction, we consider the n-dimensional Lee space of order q, that is, (Z(q)(n), d(L)), as one of the most interesting spaces for coding applications. We establish the symmetry group of Z(q)(n) for any n and q by determining its isometries. We also show that there is no cyclic subgroup of order q(n) in Gamma(Z(q)(n)) acting transitively in Z(q)(n). Therefore, there exists no Z(q)n-linear code with respect to the cyclic subgroup.
