The Global Conference on Aquaculture 2010 brought together a wide range of experts and important stakeholders and reviewed the present status and trends in aquaculture development, evaluated the progress made in the implementation of the 2000 Bangkok Declaration and Strategy, addressed emerging issues relevant to aquaculture development, assessed opportunities and challenges for future aquaculture development and built consensus on advancing aquaculture as a global, sustainable and competitive food production sector. This volume, yet another joint effort of FAO and NACA, brings the outcome of the Global Conference on Aquaculture 2010, the much-needed clear and comprehensive technical information on how aquaculture could be mobilized to alleviate global poverty and improve food and nutrition security in the coming decades.

Introduction
Toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) is a rare condition characterised by mucocutaneous exfoliation of greater than 30% total body surface area (%TBSA), increasingly being treated in burns centres. The rate of mortality varies significantly in the literature, with recent prospective studies in non-burns centres reporting percentage mortality of approximately 45%. We undertook a systematic review of published studies that included TEN patients treated specifically in burns centres to determine a cumulative mortality rate.

Methods
Electronic searches of MEDLINE, EMBASE and The Cochrane Library (Issue 4, 2010) databases from 1966 onwards were used to identify English articles related to the treatment of TEN in burns centres.

Results
The systematic literature search identified 20 studies which specifically described patients with TEN grater than 30% %TBSA. Treatment regimens varied amongst studies, as did mortality. The overall percentage mortality of the combined populations was 30%. Risk factors commonly described as associated with mortality included age, %TBSA and delay to definitive treatment.

Conclusion
The review highlights the variation between principles of treatment and mortality amongst burns centres. It offers a standard that burns centre can use to internationally compare their mortality rates. The review supports the ongoing reporting of outcomes in TEN patients with epidermal detachment greater than 30%.

A socioeconomic gradient exists in Australia for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). It remains unclear whether economic hardship is associated with T2DM self-management behaviours.

Evidence from clinical practice and the extant literature suggests that post-operative pain assessment and treatment is often suboptimal. Poor pain management is likely to persist until pain management practices become consistent with guidelines developed from the best available scientific evidence. This work will address the priority in healthcare of improving the quality of pain management by standardising evidence-based care processes through the incorporation of an algorithm derived from best evidence into clinical practice. In this paper, the methodology for the creation and implementation of such an algorithm that will focus, in the first instance, on patients who have undergone total hip or knee replacement is described.

To assess stable effects of self-management programs, measurement instruments should primarily capture the attributes of interest, for example, the self-management skills of the measured persons. However, measurements of psychological constructs are always influenced by both aspects of the situation (states) and aspects of the person (traits). This study tests whether the Health Education Impact Questionnaire (heiQ™), an instrument assessing a wide range of proximal outcomes of self-management programs, is primarily influenced by person factors instead of situational factors. Furthermore, measurement invariance over time, changes in traits and predictors of change for each heiQ™ scale were examined.

Methods: Subjects were N = 580 patients with rheumatism, asthma, orthopedic conditions or inflammatory bowel disease, who filled out the heiQ™ at the beginning, the end of and 3 months after a disease-specific inpatient rehabilitation program in Germany. Structural equation modeling techniques were used to estimate latent trait-change models and test for measurement invariance in each heiQ™ scale. Coefficients of consistency, occasion specificity and reliability were computed.

Interconnected distributed computing systems, such as computing Grids and federated Clouds, have been of special importance in both industry and academia. Resources provided in these environments are usually shared between users from different groups and/or organizations. Therefore these environments are prone to contention between user requests for accessing resources. Particularly, resource contention takes place when a user requests cannot be admitted or cannot sufficiently access resources because they are occupied by other requests. In this paper, we deal with different types of resource contentions occurring in interconnected distributed systems as well as approaches for resolving them. Approaches developed to resolve resource contentions share similarities in many aspects while being different in other aspects. We investigate the features of these approaches, identify and categorize the similarities and differences of them. Additionally, we review various resource management systems of interconnected distributed systems and group them based on the identified specifications.

Arts management is a discipline whose research domain has grown in impact over the last quarter century. This study provides an external thematic, content and citation analysis of arts management articles in top-tiermainstream management and marketing journals between 1987 and 2010. It explicates article, author andcitation frequencies based on author information, publication patterns and thematic citation metrics, thuscontributing to the development of the arts management body of knowledge. Specifically, the study examinesthe function of arts management research as a bridging mechanism to its parent disciplines in managementand marketing. The authors identify thematic citation metrics of research published in mainstream journalsas well as frequencies and publication patterns, so that scholars can make decisions affecting their futureresearch directions. The authors conclude that there is little correlation between age/rank of journal andfrequency of citations, with younger journals becoming established as key players within relatively shortperiods.

The major reforms that the Australian public sector went through in the early 1980s were characterised by a stress on efficiency and effectiveness. The reforms led to the import of a private sector mangement philosophy to the public sector, including private sector based management accounting techniques. It is this import that motivated the critical theoretical discussion presented in this paper concerning the applicability of traditional private sector management accounting techniques in the public sector. The paper sets out the pros and cons of such application and provides directions for future research.
