Catequese especial: uma experiência inclusiva

The aim of this paper is to present an experience of inclusion of individuals with mental disabilities in a religious community in the city of Londrina, north Paraná state. Called here Special Catechesis this was an evangelizing held inside a Catholic Church with the mental disabilities people The project, which five years and five classes per year, allowed the development of a pedagogical action with goals of evangelization and catechesis, where all people were successful. It was also an action to raise the consciousness among parents of these children in order to allow their children could participate in the project. Special Catechesis was evaluated for us as significant experience because it allowed a relative and positive inclusion of the classes in religious and social activities of the local community.

Reflexão sobre a atuação de mulheres nas áreas de ciência e tecnologia

This paper proposes an observation that leads to new ways of thinking regarding to women's in science and technology fields, based on previous researches that report this matter. The first detailed work on the participation and achievement of women in Science was "Women in Science" in 1913, written by HJ Mozans, a Catholic priest. According to Schienbinger (2001), this work used to invite women to develop activities in scientific areas and unleash the energies of half population of the planet. It's also important to consider the role of international organs, such as UNESCO, which since the 1990s develops studies, researches and conferences in order to discuss the inclusion of women in activities which involve science and technology. A survey based on data from literature is necessary to make a assessment on this subject in current times.

The Brazilian Journalism graduation was created in 1947, when Casper Líbero Foundation has teamed up with Philosophy's Faculty of the São Paulo's Catholic University and built the first Communication course in the country. Since then, the journalism curriculum has undergone several renovations, which influenced the profession in the country: five Currículos mínimos were created in 20 years, with the purpose of regulate journalism in the country, according to differents interests. These Curriculum left marks in Journalism that we feel today, like the perception that Journalism is a Communication's license, forcing students to be a versatile professional. Moreover, Journalism has serious teaching deficit, which separates theory from practice (functionalist perception). For the reasons above, experts in Communication, with the purpose of change the negative influence of these Currículos Mínimos, released a report in 2009, approved in 2013, with the Journalism's National Guidelines for the Journalism's graduation. The document intend to guide the discussion of the reformulation for the Journalism's curriculum in Brazil. Specifically, this paper seeks to contribute to the discussion of curriculum, of Political Pedagogic Project and national guidelines in the São Paulo State University - Universidade Estadual Paulista, UNESP. In this regard, the paper's applicant makes a study of the guidelines contained in the previous and current curriculum proposals, dissects the Journalism's National Curriculum Guidelines and offers help to speed up the discussion of the new Political Pedagogic Project for the journalism course

This thesis work aims to bring a better viewing on an atypical case of financial analysis. The lstituto per le Opere di Religione (IOR), commonly known as the Vatican Bank, has peculiarities according to its goals as a bank. Belonging to a Catholic religious congregation, IOR has been used to manage the resources of the church, and ensure that these resources are used for the operation of it and, also for religious works. However the financial transactions made by the bank remained secret throughout its existence until mid 2012. This feature of not providing relevant information at the local and international community brought harm. Several cases of corruption and money laundering came up, bringing scandals that cause bad looks for the religious entity. In order to interact with the international community and understanding the importance of it, the Roman Apostolic Catholic Church decides to joing the international accounting procedures (IFRS) and went on to provide yearly financial statement reports and other information from its bank from 2012 . Thus, this thesis work takes on the role of analyzing the financial statements of the IOR and present its economic and financial health from the Capital Structure ratios, liquidity and profitability in the period 2012-2014. Overall, there has been a significant reduction in indebtedness 548% in 2012 to 362% in 2014. However, such an index showing is still high. In addition, the debt profile remained bad (87.47% short-term in 2014). The Liquidity ratios, both indices fell during the analysed period. Noteworthy is that even with retractions, the indices are equal or greater than 1, which indicates financial footing able to pay off debts. Regarding profitability, in 2013 it represented atypical moment, considering the economic performance of the IOR in the investigated period. Review of Native Americans in the School System: Family, Community, and Academic Achievement by Carol J. Ward

The title of this volume promises more than the content delivers. The heart of the book is information from Ward's 1992 University of Chicago doctoral dissertation, which focused on the social and cultural reasons leading to students dropping out of school. Her first two chapters provide a good review of research on dropouts and Indian education; the following six focus on the results of her 1987-1989 study of 698 Northern Cheyenne, Crow, and white high school students attending the Colstrip Public, St. Labre Catholic, and Busby Tribal Schools in Montana. Fifty-two percent of the students in this study were Indian, with a dropout rate of 45% .

Religious communities and HIV prevention: An intervention study using a human rights-based approach

Religious communities have been a challenge to HIV prevention globally. Focusing on the acceptability component of the right to health, this intervention study examined how local Catholic, Evangelical and Afro-Brazilian religious communities can collaborate to foster young people`s sexual health and ensure their access to comprehensive HIV prevention in their communities in Brazil. This article describes the process of a three-stage sexual health promotion and HIV prevention initiative that used a multicultural human rights approach to intervention. Methods included 27 in-depth interviews with religious authorities on sexuality, AIDS prevention and human rights training of 18 young people as research-agents, who surveyed 177 youth on the same issues using self-administered questionnaires. The results, analysed using a rights-based perspective on health and the vulnerability framework, were discussed in daylong interfaith workshops. Emblematic of the collaborative process, workshops are the focus of the analysis. Our findings suggest that this human rights framework is effective in increasing inter-religious tolerance and in providing a collective understanding of the sexuality and prevention needs of youth from different religious communities, and also serves as a platform for the expansion of state AIDS programmes based on laical principles.
