Análise comparativa de duas versões do conto de Cinderela: a de Charles Perrault e a dos Irmãos Grimm

A importância que é atribuída ao ato da leitura serviu como princípio para nortear este estudo, que se utiliza do conto da Cinderela para aprofundar a reflexão a respeito da relação entre o tipo de leitores que estamos formando e aquele que desejamos formar. Sistematizando, por meio da teoria de Vladimir Propp, nossa análise das versões de Charles Perrault e dos Irmãos Grimm do conto de Cinderela, obtemos importantes conclusões a respeito de como o conto se contextualiza de acordo com as sociedades vigentes. Desse modo, este estudo permitiu o aprofundamento necessário para que nós, como profissionais responsáveis pela formação do sujeito e do leitor, nos atentemos a aspectos e valores contidos em cada versão do conto e que nos esforcemos em trabalhá-los junto aos nossos educandos. Retomamos ainda algumas produções contemporâneas a respeito do enredo da Gata Borralheira, para situar a concepção que fazemos deste conto e desta personagem ainda hoje. As reflexões finais ficaram responsáveis por apresentar algumas possibilidades de trabalho que o educador pode pensar para levar para a sala de aula

Revista Popular (1859-1863) e Jornal das Famílias (1863-1878): um perfil dos periódicos de Garnier

The purpose of this paper is to show some characteristics and essential information related to the Brazilian periodicals in the 19th century Revista Popular (1859-1862) and Jornal das Famílias (1863-1878), whose owner was the Frenchman Baptiste Louis Garnier. By that time the proliferation of periodicals attracts attention mainly because several of them had ephemeral existence, in opposition to Garnier’s periodicals which as a whole amount to 19 years in circulation. The research on these periodicals becomes relevant since they are well succeeded publications whose study makes possible the widening of the knowledge on social and cultural aspects of a very important period in Brazilian society.

As crianças protagonistas dos contos de fadas dos Irmãos Grimm

The origins of the fairy tales are lost in the past but these tales are, even today, great teaching instruments because they relate to language development, creativity, social relations, and especially with the internalization of values and behavior patterns. According to Bettelheim (1980), fairy tales assure the children that the difficulties can be overcome, no matter how insignificant they feel. In this sense, these tales are power tools. We understand that fairy tales - and their characters - have the power to influence their readers/listeners. Therefore, this study considered four fairy tales in which the protagonists are children and remain as children all though the narratives: Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel Snow White and Rose Red and Thumbling, from Grimm Tales, translated into Portuguese by David Jardim Junior and published in 2008 by Itatiaia. We sought investigate how the children characters of these stories act, leveraging a reflection grounded on the image of children that emerge from the selected tales - images that have been registered in the first decades of the nineteenth century by the Brothers Grimm in their Children's and Household Tales - enabling the identification of the kinds of behavior that they perform and the values they embody, thus contributing to a better understanding of the models that these characters offer to the twenty-first century's children. Our research has a qualitative approach of bibliographic nature, mainly grounded in the ideas of Bettelheim (1980) and Ariès (1981). We found that there is a shortage of studies on the tales collected/maintained by the Brothers Grimm, although these stories have become classics of universal children's literature and continue, cradling the imagination of Western children in the twenty-first century. The Martha Thomas Fitzgerald Papers consist of biographical data, correspondence, minutes, newspaper clippings, memoranda, reports, and photographs (of particular interest are the many photographs of rural S.C. school houses in the 1920s). The collection pertains to Mrs. Fitzgerald’s work with the South Carolina Department of Education, the South Carolina House of Representatives, and her work with various civic organizations such as the Altrusa Club, the League of Women Voters, the Daughters of American Colonists, United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC), Business and Professional Women’s Club (BPW), Delta Kappa Gamma, South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation, and the Salvation Army. There is also information on the Status of Women Commission Council on Aging, agriculture, Queens College, University of South Carolina, Winthrop University, Columbia University, public health, South Carolina history, City of Columbia, South Carolina, and Richland County, South Carolina. Correspondents include Strom Thurmond and three letters from John F. Kennedy when he was senator. Mrs. Fitzgerald was the first woman elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in a general election.
