Composição de algas perifíticas (exceto Bacillariophyceae) em distintos substratos naturais de um ambiente semilótico, planície de inundação do Alto Rio Paraná, Brasil

Constituiu o objetivo deste estudo a taxonomia das algas perifíticas (exceto Bacillariophyceae) dominantes em três substratos naturais, Eichhornia azurea Kunth, Nymphaea amazonum Mart. & Zucc. e Oxycaryum cubense (Poepp. & Kunth) Lye, em um ambiente semilótico (Ressaco do Pau Véio), na planície de inundação do Alto Rio Paraná. Considerou-se apenas os táxons com freqüência de ocorrência acima de 75% das amostras, excetuando-se as diatomáceas. Trinta e um táxons foram descritos, ilustrados e medidos, distribuídos nas classes: Chlorophyceae (3), Cryptophyceae (1), Cyanobacteria (14 taxa), Zygnemaphyceae (7), Euglenophyceae (2) e Xanthophyceae (4). Vinte e três espécies consistiram em primeiros registros taxonômicos para a planície do Alto Rio Paraná: Chamaesiphon investiens Skuja, Geitleribactron subaequale (Geitler) Komárek, Chroococcus limneticus Lemmerm., C. minimus (Keissler) Lemmerm., C. minor (Kütz.) Nägeli, Aphanothece microscopica Nägeli, Phormidium molle (Kütz.) Gomont, Leptolyngbya angustissima (West & G.S. West) Anagn. & Komárek, L. foveolarum (Rabenhorst ex Gomont) Anagn. & Komárek e Pseudanabaena frigida (Fritsch) Anagn. (Cyanobacteria); Characium ensiforme Hermann, C. ornithocephalum A. Braun e Desmodesmus brasiliensis (Bohlin) E. Hegewald (Chlorophyceae); Cosmarium abbreviatum Racib., C. bireme Nordst., C. pseudopyramidatum Lundell, C. subadoxum Grönblad, C. trilobulatum Reinsch, Gonatozygon pilosum Wolle and Staurastrum forficulatum Lundell (Zygnemaphyceae); Trachelomonas hispida (Perty) Stein emend. Analysis of Brazilian consumer preference of filled chocolate

Chocolate is the most popular product made from cocoa. It is mainly consumed with fillings, such as fondant, hydrogenated fat or fruits. This work aimed at assessing the sensory acceptability of chocolate filled with strawberry, orange or passion fruit pulps, mixed in fondant, in a hydrogenated fat base and as truffles. Ninety four consumers participated in the test using a 10 cm hedonic scale to rate the overall liking of the samples. Two-way analysis of variance and the Internal Preference Mapping technique were used to analyze the data. Results showed a good overall liking for almost all samples, especially for strawberry and passion fruit truffles, which obtained 8.4 and 8.8 global means, respectively (p < 0.05), in liking ratings, followed by the hydrogenated fat and fondant fillings. The Internal Preference Map presented two dimensions explaining 72.5% of the variation found. Regarding the flavors, strawberry - traditional in chocolate and confectionary in Brazil - and passion fruit obtained better acceptance, unlike the orange fillings, which showed significantly lower ratings (p < 0.05). The orange fondant filling obtained a global mean of 6.5.

Bancos públicos em sistemas financeiros maduros: perspectivas teóricas e desafios para os países em desenvolvimento

The paper discusses two theoretical approaches to the role of public banks (PBs): the Shaw-McKinnon model and an alternative Keynesian view. In the former, the PBs still in operation in less developing countries would be near to become fully unnecessary, in view of the advance of their financial development in the last twenty years. In the Keynesian approach this hypothesis is unlikely. Financial markets are viewed as structurally inefficient and "incomplete" for the requirements of the process of economic development. Nevertheless, it is undeniable that economic and financial development will require a definition of new strategies for PBs. The paper is concluded with a brief discussion of this issue.
