The man who mistook Marat for Sade: 'living' memory and the video archive

Digital video archives, which are growing at an exponential rate, will become increasingly important to Theatre History and Performance Studies, and questions of how scholars negotiate the relationships between memory, technology and performance events in theoretical and practical terms will become crucial. Indeed, there is already a considerable body of scholarly material on this topic. This article considers these questions with specific reference to the relationship between video records deposited in digital archives and human memory. First and foremost, this article raises questions about the authority of the archive and the ways in which archival technologies, in the words of Maaike Bleeker, 'transform how we remember, how our and others' memories are entangled in the here-and-now, and, in the end, even how we think and imagine'.

Meursault (and Caligula) avec de sade: on the relations between the literary absurds and Camus’s philosophical discourses

This article considers the relation between L'Etranger and Caligula, with Camus' philosophical discourse. It aims at mediocra firma between the idea that the literary 'absurds' just illustrate Camus' philosophy; and the idea that they are wholly autonomous from that philosophy. Following threads from Camus' own responses to Melville, du Gard and others, we argue that Meursault and the crazed emperor Caligula are not illustrations of the absurd, let alone Camusian ethical ideals. They embody 'temptations' to forms of philosophical suicide and murder Camus systematically opposed in his philosophical writings, whose paradigm in The Rebel is the Marquis de Sade. Rather than rebelling against the unjust irrationality of the world, these figures (either passively or actively) become agents of this irrationality. Camus the man, or his thinking, should not be identified with them, as such, any more than Shakespeare should be identified with his Iago, or sundry other villains.

Estudo da estabilidade acelerada de solução oral de paracetamol 200mg/mL, distribuída no Sistema Único de Saúde - SUS

O paracetamol é um fármaco de ação analgésica e antipirética, obtido através da metabolização da fenacetina, um analgésico derivado do alcatrão. Seu mecanismo de ação consiste em inibir a enzima responsável pela síntese de prostaglandina no cérebro, reduzindo a febre e induzindo a analgesia. O objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar as possíveis alterações físicas e químicas da solução de paracetamol distribuída pelo Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) por meio do estudo de estabilidade acelerada. Cada amostra foi armazenada em condições ambientais diferentes e foi analisada no momento inicial, após 60 dias e após 90 dias. As amostras foram examinadas segundo a Farmacopeia brasileira, quarta edição, nos requisitos de aspecto, pH e doseamento. Através do referido estudo, foi possível verificar que o método de espectrofotometria em UV não é recomendado para estudos de estabilidade térmica de solução de paracetamol, por sofrer interferência de seu produto de degradação.
