Given the intense expansion of the industries in Brazil and the discovery of hydrocarbons in the pre-salt layer of the Santos and Campos Basin, there is a need to expand the distribution of oil and gas network in the country. The present work aims to present the development of susceptibility map by two distinct methods of two events (debris flows and full wave), applied to the establishment of pipelines on Ribeirão da Prata Basin. The research area covers two municipalities: São João da Boa Vista and Águas da Prata, in total 145 km2. In the paper was used the methodology proposed by Zaine (2011) for the physiographic subdivision method, which uses geological maps, geomorphological maps, digital terrain models and aerial photographs, used to extract the main elements of the physical environment, as rivers, lines, ridges, tops forms and valley forms and historical processes. Thus, the basin was divided into 11 physiographic zones, considering the following elements: thickness of soil, rock type, geomorphology, amplitude, ridges orientation, erosion occurences and mass movements. Were subsequently performed location maps of dams, that had as main purpose to localize major dams in the study area along with their area and perimeter of the reservoir, and land use map that subdivided the area in woody vegetation, permanent culture, temporary culture and urban area. Along with the preparation of the auxiliar maps was conducted a field campaign with three days and approximately 2 points per km2, which aimed to better understand the physical environment and check the main peculiarities of the study area. The AA356 alloy is an alloy widely used in the automotive industry and aerospace due to its excellent mechanical properties. Refining the structure of eutectic silicon aluminum alloys is a fairly common practice in the foundry through treatment known as modification. This can be achieved by modifying agent adding chemicals such as contained in groups I and IIa of the periodic table and rare earths (europium, céreioi, praseodymium, neodymium, etc.). Has the ability to modify the structure of the eutectic, but only sodium and strontium produce an action modifier strong when used in low concentrations. The modifying effect of the shafts turn silicon into a fibrous form and branched surrounded by metallic matrix in the form of a composite structure that has the highest limit of tensile strength, ductility and machinability. In this work will be obtained ingots with and without the modifier type Al-10% Sr, made in sand molds and are generated and analyzed cooling curves and also the study of the macrostructure and microstructure of the solidified material. O mexilhão-dourado (Limnoperna fortunei) é um bivalve de água doce pertencente à família Mytilidae. Originário de rios e arroios da China e do sudeste asiático, foi introduzido acidentalmente na América do Sul em 1991, no estuário do rio da Prata, provavelmente através de água de lastro. Como encontrou condições propícias para o seu desenvolvimento, se expandiu através dos rios Uruguai, Paraná e Paraguai, sendo atualmente o principal responsável pelo macrofouling em ecossistemas de água doce do continente. O presente estudo compreende uma área de grande extensão na bacia do Rio da Prata, onde foram amostrados pontos estratégicos nos rios Paraná (e seus principais afluentes), Uruguai e Paraguai. A partir de coletas de organismos do plâncton, realizadas por arrasto vertical, foram quantificadas as densidades de larvas de L. fortunei em cada local de amostragem. Assim, obteve-se um panorama atual da ocorrência do mexilhão, registrando-se, inclusive, alguns limites de sua distribuição. As densidades mostraram-se, no geral, elevadas, provavelmente em decorrência do período de amostragem (verão 2010), onde a atividade reprodutiva da espécie é maior devido às altas temperaturas. Porém, grandes variações ao longo da bacia foram registradas, o que pode estar relacionado ao grau de antropização, disponibilidade de substratos, velocidade da corrente, tempo de introdução, entre outras variáveis

With the increasing demand for electricity, the retraining of transmission lines is necessary despite environmental restrictions and crossings in densely populated areas to build new transmission and distribution lines. Solution is reuse the existent cables, replacing the old conductor cables for new cables with higher capacity power transmission, and control of sag installed. The increasing demand for electrical power has increased the electric current on the wires and therefore, it must bear out temperatures of 150°C or more, without the risk of the increasing sag beyond the established limits. In the case of long crossings or densely populated areas, sag is due to high weight of the cable on clearance. The cable type determines the weight, sag, height and the towers dimensions, which are the items that most influence the investment of the transmission line. Hence, to reduce both cost of investment and maintenance of the line, the use of a lighter cable can reduce both number and the height of the towers, with financial return on short and long term. Therefore, in order to increase the amount of transmitted energy and reduce the number of built towers and sag, is recommended in the current work substitute the current core material (steel or aluminium) for alternatives alloys or new materials, in this case a composite, which has low density, elevated stiffness (elasticity module), thus apply the pultruded carbon fiber with epoxy resin as matrix systems and perform the study of the kinetics of degradation by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), according to their respective standards

Fracture surfaces express sequences of events of energy release with crack propagation in metal alloys, the evolution of topographic features can indicate the lines of load action, failures during the use or processing. The quantitative fractography is an important tool in the study of fracture surfaces, because it allows their interpretation and characterization. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the characterization of fracture surfaces grounded on concepts such as selfsimilarity and self-affinity, it used the 15-5PH steel that was characterized by metallographic and tensile tests. The metallography allows the microstructural characterization of this steel and proved the presence of the martensite phase in the slats form and a fine-grained, both in the radial and in the axial direction of the dowel. The tensile test (ASTM E8) of this material allowed the determination of the mechanical properties, so based on the obtained results it was possible to affirm that the 15-5PH steel has high mechanical properties and a good stretch. Besides, the specimens also underwent testing of crack propagation, standardized by ASTM E647-00, thus it was obtained the fracture surfaces for characterization under monofractal and multifractal approaches. In front of all the exposed it was possible to conclude that in all measurements the correlation between the crack tip position and the fractal dimension was established in accordance with changes in the thickness and in the fracture micromechanisms presents. Furthermore, the multifractal approach was more sensitive to these variations allowing a more detailed characterization of the morphology

No presente trabalho é proposto um método para determinação de cobre, manganês e selênio em amostras de vegetais de cultura orgânica e convencional utilizando ultra-som no processo de extração dos analitos e posterior quantificação por espectrometria de absorção atômica em forno de grafite (GFAAS). Utilizando como solução extratora HCl 0,10 mol L-1, as condições ótimas de extração estabelecidas foram: massa de amostra de 100 mg; granulometria da amostra < 60 m; tempo de sonificação de cinco ciclos de 40 s e potência de sonificação de 136 W. As determinações dos analitos por GFAAS foram feitas utilizando-se temperaturas de secagem de 90-250 oC, temperatura de pirólise de 1300 oC, temperatura de atomização de 2300 oC e temperatura de limpeza de 2800 oC. Foi utilizado como modificador químico nitrato de paládio co-injetado junto com as amostras e tungstênio como modificador permanente. A exatidão e precisão do método de extração proposto foram avaliadas utilizando-se padrão certificado Corn Bran, RM 8433 – National Institute of Standards and Technology. Os resultados obtidos pelo método de extração por ultra-som mostraram-se equivalentes aos obtidos pelo método utilizando-se mineralização ácida das amostras em forno de microondas. No entanto, a metodologia proposta diminui consideravelmente o tempo de análise, o que favorece a velocidade analítica. Além disso, a quantidade de resíduos gerados para o ambiente também é bastante minimizada

Brazil is a country with the largest world´s vegetal genetic diversity and the Environmental Protection Area (APA) of the “Serra da Mantiqueira” is a very heterogeneous region, representing one of the richest sources of pharmacologically actives materials. The population uses medicinal plants and according to the OMS, 80% of the population uses them in primary treatment of several diseases. Nevertheless, the loss of traditional knowledge associated with medicinal plants is occurring quickly. The ethnopharmacological strategy uses traditional knowledge to the search for medicinal plants that can have bioactive substances against diseases that afflicting the population and thus protect traditional knowledge. The “cipó-prata” (Trigonia nívea Cambess.) is a native plant normally found in the “Bacia do Paraná” region and present in the flora in the neighborhood of “Marins”, Piquete-SP and usually, said for the treatment of renal and urinary diseases. So, the objective of this study was test if the “cipóprata” (Trigonia nívea Cambess.) has effects on the renal excretion of water and salt, in anesthetized Wister rats. The tests were made in males Wistar rats and randomly distributed into 4 experimental groups: Group I – aqueous control, Group II – treated with aqueous extract (EA) of “cipó-prata”, Group III – water control + “tween 80”, Group IV – treated with ethanol extract (EE) and “cipó-prata”. All groups were subjected to experimental protocol, composed of three periods: Balance (40 minutes), Basal (30 minutes) and Experimental (90 minutes), occurring the urine collection every 30 minutes, from the basal period and measuring blood pressure every 10 minutes. This work performs a comparative study of fatigue life of riveted lap joints involving classes of drilling which adjustment is made with interference or clearance. For this study, representative specimens of this joints were manufactured with four rivets distributed in two rows. In this context, are presented the test matrix, the methodology employed in performing of the tests, the used mathematical modeling, and that methods that are the basis for the latter are described through the theoretical foundation. Next, are present the results obtained in fatigue tests and images of the region of failure of the specimens. Finally, are present some comments and conclusions related to the results obtained

This work proposes a study on the materials selections and processes for the manufacture of aircraft and showing a methodology to reduce the manufacturing cost. The DFMA can be understood as a methodology that aims at reducing manufacturing and assembly costs and coupled with the increase of product quality through design simplifications. The most commonly material used in the manufacture of aircraft is aluminum alloys due to these possess great structural strength, good elasticity, and being stainless having a low specific weight (about 1/3 that of steel), reducing the weight of the aircraft. A case study in which an operation in the process of verifying the quality was generating unnecessary costs time / man for the company was also developed. The problem solution was simple, just removing the attachment process. It was found that the DFMA methodology is extremely important for the simplification of processes and projects, contributing to the reduction of manufacturing costs of aircraft

The project aims to develop ceramic compounds with gradients of the mechanical properties, using the molding technique with commercial starches. To understand the process of interaction between starch and ceramic powders, the proposed methodology involves viscometry tests (up to 200 °C). Viscometric assays were carried out with slurries of alumina, titania and aluminum titanate with potato starch, cassava and corn. The specimens were tested for dilatometry, thermomechanical, thermal shock, mechanical and characterization by SEM. The ceramic powders and starches were analyzed using the optical microscope to measure the size of these. The aim of this study is to characterize the macrostructure and microstructure of Al - 1%Si alloy obtained in sand and metallic molds. Aluminium has good mechanical properties, but adding silicon, even in small quantities, can change the microstructure and improves mechanical behavior. Workpieces were castings in metallic and sand molds and one can see a difference in their cooling curve, macroscopic and microscopic structures. The sand mold casting has lower cooling rate and so its grains are larger. Due to the lower concentration of grain boundary, the hardness is lower compared to that found in metallic molds, which has smaller grains and a higher hardness. Therefore, it can be concluded that the cooling rate and alloying elements affect the final microstructure of the workpiece

The waste, exaggerated and incorrect disposal of biomass are common practices in modern times where everything is disposable. However the growing concern with the nature and the environment compel man to give nobler destinations for these products through sustainability and recycling of waste. Banana peel is a residual biomass, which is not consumed. It generates tons of waste per week in São Paulo city. This trash is disposed in dumps and landfills, which could be reduced by using it as reinforcement in natural composites. The high density polyethylene (HDPE) is a polymer derived from the ethylene polymerization and is easily recycled. Which makes it a sustainable material. In the present work characteristics of the natural composite composed with banana peel and high-density polyethylene were studied. It was noted that removing the lignin present in the banana peel, the fiber introduces a significant improvement in thermal resistance. The preparation of composite was made with a ratio of 5% and 10% of reinforcement in comparison with polymeric matrix mass. Composites were thermally, mechanically and microscopically characterized. The addition of fiber in the polymer increased the mechanical strength of the composite. The fiber surface treatment with distilled water removed the amorphous material present in the fibers, improving significantly thermal stability and increasing crystallinity of the celullose. The addition of 5% fiber in mass to the polymer increased significantly the tensile strength and elasticity modulus for the composite. With 10% of fiber addiction there were also an improvement when compared with pure HDPE, but when compared with 5% composite the mechanical properties are slightly lower. O cultivo de citrus é uma das principais atividades agrícolas no Estado de São Paulo, sendo realizado em solos gerados a partir de diferentes materiais que conferem, naturalmente, variações na constituição química e mineralógica destes, além de poderem, ou não estar contaminados por metais tóxicos oriundos dos métodos defensivos. Com o objetivo de quantificar os atributos químicos e os teores de metais pesados do solo foi realizado um estudo comparativo entre solos assim cultivados, das regiões das cidades de Mogi Guaçu e São José do Rio Preto. Este estudo envolveu a determinação do pH do solo, análises volumétricas para quantificação dos teores de matéria orgânica, Ca+2, Mg+2 e Al+3 , espectrofotômetro de chama para o estabelecimento dos teores de Na+ e K+ e espectrofotômetro de absorção atômica para determinação dos teores de Cobre, Zinco, Cádmio, Cromo, Níquel e Chumbo. O solo da região de Mogi Guaçu apresentou-se mais ácido devido, provavelmente, a uma maior concentração de Al3+. Apresentou, também, teores mais elevados de matéria orgânica. Os solos de ambas as regiões apresentaramse deficientes em Na+ , K+ , Ca+2 e Mg+2 . A análise realizada para os metais pesados mostrou uma elevada quantidade de Níquel observada nas amostras de solo da região de São José do Rio Preto e, Níquel e Cobre, nas de Mogi Guaçu, com valores classificados como de prevenção, de acordo com os Parâmetros Orientadores da CETESB (2005). Estes teores de alerta devem-se, muito possivelmente, à adição exagerada de defensivos agrícolas.
