Uma metodologia para o projeto teórico de conversores moleculares de luz

Recentlly, we have proposed the representation of lanthanides within AM1 as sparkles for the purpose of obtaing ground state geometries of their complexes. We tested our quantum chemical sparkle model (SMLC/AM1) for the prediction of the crystallographic structure of complexes with coordination number nine, eight and seven. A technique is introduced for the theoretical prediction of eletronic spectra of the organic part of lanthanide complexes by replacing the metal ion by a point charge with the ligands held in their positions as determined by the SMLC/AM1, and by computing the theoretical spectra via the intermediate neglect of differential overlap/spectroscopic-configuration interaction (INDO/S-CI).

Geração e controle das cores luz primárias em vidros para dispositivos "full color"

We are working in a new multi-doped glassy material to generate simultaneously the three primary light color (by addition) of the visible spectrum, with the control of the intensity of each one, allowing the simulation of any color: a full-color generator device. Tm+3, Tb+3 and Eu+3 ions were used (0.01 to 5,0 mol%) as blue, green and red narrow line emitters. A wide color gamut was obtained under ultraviolet excitation by varying the material composition. The chromaticity diagram is covered, including the white simulation.

Sistema multiagent per a la classificació de dades

Aquest programari enmarca diversos algorimes supervisats, que extreuen informació devaris fitxers, i diversos agents classificadors que la transporten a un agent Manager.Finalment, aquest agent Manager computa tota aquesta informació rebuda per predir diferents valors de diverses instàncies aleatòries introduïdes per l'usuari.

El present document recull la memòria que descriu el meu treball de final de grau d'enginyeria informàtica del àrea de bases de dades. Aquest projecte es centra en la realització del disseny, implementació i validació d'una base de dades relacional que donarà resposta a la necessitat de les empreses certificades amb l'ISO 9001, 13485 o que treballin sota la regulació GxP, de portar una gestió i control de les accions correctives i accions preventives, des d'ara anomenades CAPA, resultats d'observacions detectades en auditories de qualitat tant internes com externes. La validació d'aquesta base de dades s'ha realitzat sota l'estàndard quemarquen les GAMP5.

Skönlitteratur – en specialsamling rikssvensk skönlitteratur

Samlingen med signum HB IVb2 finns vid huvudbiblioteket och innehåller rikssvensk skönlitteratur förutom barnlitteratur. Samlingen tillväxer kontinuerligt. Barnlitteraturen ingår Barnbokssamlingen. Grunden för specialsamlingen rikssvensk skönlitteratur lades vid akademins invigning år 1919. Riksföreningen för svenskhetens bevarande i utlandet gjorde ett upprop i hela Sverige att det nygrundade svenskspråkiga universitetet i grannlandet behövde litteratur. Strömmen bokdonationer fortsatte sedan genom åren att komma från Sverige, men betydande bokdonationer kom också från hemlandet. Det kom bokdonationer från enskilda personer, från sterbhus, från institutioner och från föreningar. Bland föreningar i Sverige kan förutom ovannämnda riksförening nämnas Föreningen Svensk-Finlands Vänner i Stockholm, Riksföreningen Sverigekontakt och Föreningen Konung Oscar II:s vandringsbibliotek. Bland stora donationer från institutioner kan nämnas de 400 volymer som Göteborgs stadsbibliotek donerade i mitten av 40-talet och de 800 volymer som Kungliga biblioteket i Stockholm donerade i slutet av 50-talet. Bland donationer från hemlandet kan speciellt nämnas vicehäradshövding Arvid Souranders samling böcker skrivna av Strindberg samt hans samling böcker skrivna av Almqvist. En annan speciellt värdefull specialsamling som biblioteket erhållit består av äldre svensk dramatisk litteratur. Samlingen är kronologiskt ordnad men okatalogiserad. Beståndet finns förprickat i ett exemplar av G.E. Klemmings Sveriges dramatiska litteratur till och med 1875. Med anledning av att Åbo Akademi fyllde 50 år förband sig över femtio rikssvenska förlag i januari 1968 att till biblioteket ställa till förfogande ett exemplar av varje bok som förlagen utgav. Denna s.k. förlagsgåva har med åren minskat i omfång och betydelse, dels har förlagsvärlden ändrats så att flertalet förlag har upphört att existera och dels har bibliotekets resurser blivit bättre och biblioteket kompletterar samlingen genom inköp. Den rikssvenska skönlitteraturen söks i Alma med sökfunktionen Signum och söktermen HB IVb2. En del litteratur tryckt före 1980 skall sökas manuellt i huvudbibliotekets systematiska kortkatalog, men retroaktiv inmatning i Alma av litteratur tryckt mellan 1830 och 1979 pågår.

Mourning Becomes Electra by Eugene O’Neill: Aeschylus and Plato’s Cave to Create a Dark Drama

The fundamental debt of E. O’Neill’s Mourning Becomes Electra to Aeschylus, and to a lesser degree to Sophocles and Euripides, has been always recognised but, according to the author’s hypothesis, O’Neill might have taken advantage of the Platonic image of the cave in order to magnify his both Greek and American drama. It is certainly a risky hypothesis that stricto sensu cannot be proved, but it is also reader’s right to evaluate the plausibility and the possible dramatic benefit derived from such a reading. Besides indicating to what degree some of the essential themes of Platonic philosophy concerning darkness, light or the flight from the prison of the material world are not extraneous to O’Neill’s work, the author proves he was aware of the Platonic image of the cave thanks to its capital importance in the work of some of his intellectual mentors such as F. Nietzsche or Oscar Wilde. Nevertheless, the most significant aim of the author’s article is to emphasize both the dramatic benefits and the logical reflections derived, as said before, from reading little by little O’Neill’s drama bearing in mind the above mentioned Platonic parameter.

This note has as objective to present the advantages of the use of syringe-type pumps for the feeding of liquid reactants, together with mass flow controllers for gases, instead of the saturators, as it is generally accomplished. Among the advantages, the system with syringe pumps presents a greater flexibility in flow control as well as in composition compared with the system that uses saturator. In addition, the flow of the liquid reactants is known with precision in the syringe pump system.

Pregabalin in the treatment of inferior alveolar nerve paraesthesia following overfilling of endodontic sealer

A case of orofacial pain and inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) paraesthesia after extrusion of endodontic sealer within the mandibular canal treated with prednisone and pregabalin is described. A 36-year-old woman underwent root canal treatment of the mandibular second right premolar tooth. Post-operative panoramic radiograph revealed the presence of radiopaque canal sealer in the mandibular canal. Damage to IAN consecutive to extrusion of endodontic sealer was diagnosed. Non-surgical management was decided, including: 1 mg/kg/day prednisone 2 times/day, once-daily regimen, and 150 mg/day pregabalin, two doses per day, monitoring the progress with periodic follow-up visits. Six weeks after the incident the signs and symptoms were gone. The complete resolution of paraesthesia and the control of pain achieved suggest that a non-surgical approach, combining prednisone and the GABA analogue pregabalin, is a good option in the management of the IAN damage subsequent to endodontic sealer extrusion

Métodos Ultravioleta Selectivo y de reducción con Hidracina en la determinación del ión nitrato an aguas subterraneas

In this study, a comparison of two methods, the Selective UV Spectrophotometrical Method and Reduction with Hidrazine Method, for the determination of Nitrate ion in groundwater, was carried out. For this purpose, the results from all the drinking water collectings of the city of Olavarría, Argentina, were employed. Both methods present significant different means, but they don´t present significant differences in their variances.

Intensities of 4f-4f transitions in glass materials

In this article we review some of the basic aspects of rare earth spectroscopy applied to vitreous materials. The characteristics of the intra-atomic free ion and ligand field interactions, as well as the formalisms of the forced electric dipole and dynamic coupling mechanisms of 4f-4f intensities, are outlined. The contribution of the later mechanism to the 4f-4f intensities is critically discussed, a point that has been commonly overlooked in the literature of rare earth doped glasses. The observed correlation between the empirical intensity parameter W2 and the covalence of the ion first coordination shell is discussed accordingly to the theoretical predictions.

Equivalent representation form of oscillators with elastic and damping nonlinear terms

In this work we consider the nonlinear equivalent representation form of oscillators that exhibit nonlinearities in both the elastic and the damping terms. The nonlinear damping effects are considered to be described by fractional power velocity terms which provide better predictions of the dissipative effects observed in some physical systems. It is shown that their effects on the system dynamics response are equivalent to a shift in the coefficient of the linear damping term of a Duffing oscillator. Then, its numerical integration predictions, based on its equivalent representation form given by the well-known forced, damped Duffing equation, are compared to the numerical integration values of its original equations of motion. The applicability of the proposed procedure is evaluated by studying the dynamics response of four nonlinear oscillators that arise in some engineering applications such as nanoresonators, microresonators, human wrist movements, structural engineering design, and chain dynamics of polymeric materials at high extensibility, among others

L'esport rei mou milions de persones, com s'està veient aquest mes amb motiu de l'Eurocopa i com passa amb qualsevol gran partit. L'últim Barça-Madrid, per exemple, el van veure més de 14 milions d'espectadors a Espanya, gairebé un 30% de la població espanyola, i uns 400 milions d'espectadors a tot el món, el 5% de tota la població mundial. Per fer-nos una idea comparativa, l'última edició dels Oscar va aconseguir reunir davant de la pantalla gairebé 40 milions de nord-americans, cosa que representa només el 13% de la població d'aquest país. Hi ha qui opina que l'enorme interès i passió que desperten els esports d'equip, especialment el futbol, són exagerats; que es tracta de fenòmens acaparadors i mediàtics, i que l'incombustible recital de fons dels comentaristes esportius els diumenges a la tarda en la majoria d'emissores radiofòniques és realment antipàtic. Tanmateix, el cert és que el futbol agrada a molta gent, mou grans sumes de diners i desperta potents emocions. No hi ha dubte que constitueix un gran espectacle. Per què hi ha aquest interès gairebé universal pel futbol? A part d'aspectes culturals que emfatitzen l'atracció que sentim per aquest esport espectacle, quin és l'origen bàsic de la passió per les confrontacions esportives? Què li passa al cervell quan un juga un partit o el mira? [...]

Determinación de cinc a microescala en un medicamento especifico

This work presents zinc determination in certain medicines that contain zinc oxide and zinc undecylenate. The technique consists of a spectrophotometric micro-scale titration, where EDTA is used as titrant, and xylenol orange as an indicator, in a medium adjusted to pH = 6 with acetic acid and sodium acetate. After each added portion of EDTA, the absorbance value is measured at a selected wavelength, in order to detect the end-point of the spectrophotometric titration. The results already obtained are satisfactory and promote student's interest. An additional contribution intends to propose the use of micro-scale techniques.
