Modelling of froth transportation in industrial flotation cells: Part I. Development of froth transportation models for attached particles

Modelling of froth transportation, as part of modelling of froth recovery, provides a scale-up procedure for flotation cell design. It can also assist in improving control of flotation operation. Mathematical models of froth velocity on the surface and froth residence time distribution in a cylindrical tank flotation cell are proposed, based on mass balance principle of the air entering the froth. The models take into account factors such as cell size, concentrate launder configuration, use of a froth crowder, cell operating conditions including froth height and air rate, and bubble bursting on the surface. Estimation of transportation battery second life for use in electricity grid systems

This paper presents research from part of a larger project focusing on the potential development of commercial opportunities for the reuse of batteries on the electricity grid system, subsequent to their primary use in low and ultra-low carbon vehicles, and investigating the life cycle issues surrounding the batteries. The work has three main areas; examination of electric vehicle fleet data in detail to investigate usage in first life. Batteries that have passed through a battery recycler at the end of their first life have been tested within the laboratory to confirm the general assumption that remaining capacity of 80% after use in transportation is a reasonable assumption as a basis for second-life applications. The third aspect of the paper is an investigation of the equivalent usage for three different second-life applications based on connection to the electricity grid. Additionally, the paper estimates the time to cell failure of the batteries within their second-life application to estimate lifespan for use within commercial investigations. © 2014 IEEE.

A gabonaszállítási piac színe és visszája Magyarországon (The pros and contras of the Hungarian cereals transportation market)

A tanulmány a szakirodalomban újszerű kezdeményezésként kísérletet tesz a gabonapiac ellátási láncának felrajzolására, majd annak egyik, a cikk alapkérdése szempontjából kiemelt vetületét, a gabonaszállítási és raktározási problémákat elemzi. Előbbit a piac szereplőitől kvalitatív módon begyűjtött információkkal, utóbbit a szakirodalom alapján mutatja be. A cikk az elemzés után javaslatokkal szolgál ahhoz, hogyan lehetne hazánkban egy integrált gabonapiaci szállítási-raktározási-átrakási rendszert kialakítani. __________ The aim of the article is to present the situation of the Hungarian cereals transport and storage-reloading market and by interconnection, to treat cereals market’s operations systemically. Under this process, the study trace to draw a possible supply chain of the national cereals market up, which is a new initiation in the Hungarian literature. The focus of the article is to analyse transport and storage processes in the cereals market using the framework mentioned above. Transport market is demonstrated on the grounds of a revealing qualitative research, while storage market is brought out by literature. After analysis, the article gives recommendations how to shape an integrated transport and storage-reload system in the Hungarian cereals market.
