Attempts to understand China’s role in global value chains have often noted the case of Apple's iPhone production, in particular the fact that the value added during the Chinese portion of the iPhone’s supply chain is no more than 4%. However, when we examine the Chinese economy as a whole in global production networks, China’s share in total induced value added by China’s exports of final products to the USA is about 75% in 2005. This leads us to investigate how Chinese value added is created and distributed not only internationally but also domestically. To elucidate the increasing complexity of China’s domestic production networks, this paper focuses on the measure of Domestic Value Chains (DVCs) across regions and their linkages with global markets. By using China’s 1997 and 2007 interregional input-output tables, we can understand in detail the structural changes in domestic trade in terms of value added, as well as the position and degree of participation of different regions within the DVCs.

International input-output tables are among the most useful tools for economic analysis. Since these tables provide detailed information about international production networks, they have recently attracted considerable attention in research on spatial economics, global value chains, and issues relating to trade in value-added. The Institute of Developing Economies at the Japan External Trade Organization (IDE-JETRO) has more than 40 years of experience in the construction and analysis of international input-output tables. This paper explains the development of IDE-JETRO’s multi-regional input-output projects including the construction of the Asian International Input-Output table and the Transnational Interregional Input-Output table between China and Japan. To help users understand the features of the tables, this paper also gives examples of their application.

In this study, we apply the inter-regional input–output model to explain the relationship between China’s inter-regional spillover of CO2 emissions and domestic supply chains for 2002 and 2007. Based on this model, we propose alternative indicators such as the trade in CO2 emissions, CO2 emissions in trade, regional trade balances, and comparative advantage of CO2 emissions. The empirical results not only reveal the nature and significance of inter-regional environmental spillover within China’s domestic regions but also demonstrate how CO2 emissions are created and distributed across regions via domestic production networks. The main finding shows that a region’s CO2 emissions depend on not only its intra-regional production technique, energy use efficiency but also its position and participation degree in domestic and global supply chains.

International politics affects oil trade. But why? We construct a firm-level dataset for all U.S. oil-importing companies over 1986-2008 to examine what kinds of firms are more responsive to change in "political distance" between the U.S. and her trading partners, measured by divergence in their UN General Assembly voting patterns. Consistent with previous macro evidence, we first show that individual firms diversify their oil imports politically, even after controlling for unobserved firm heterogeneity. We conjecture that the political pattern of oil imports from these individual firms is driven by hold-up risks, because oil trade is often associated with backward vertical FDI. To test this hold-up risk hypothesis, we investigate heterogeneity in responses by matching transaction-level import data with firm-level worldwide reserves. Our results show that long-run oil import decisions are indeed more elastic for firms with oil reserves overseas than those without, although the reverse is true in the short run. We interpret this empirical regularity as that while firms trade in the spot market can adjust their imports immediately, vertically-integrated firms with investment overseas tend to commit to term contracts in the short run even though they are more responsive to changes in international politics in the long run.

ICTs account nowadays for 2% of total carbon emissions. However, in a time when strict measures to reduce energyconsumption in all the industrial and services sectors are required, the ICT sector faces an increase in services and bandwidth demand. The deployment of NextGenerationNetworks (NGN) will be the answer to this new demand and specifically, the NextGenerationAccessNetworks (NGANs) will provide higher bandwidth access to users. Several policy and cost analysis are being carried out to understand the risks and opportunities of new deployments, though the question of which is the role of energyconsumption in NGANs seems off the table. Thus, this paper proposes amodel to analyze the energyconsumption of the main fiber-based NGAN architectures, i.e. Fiber To The House (FTTH) in both Passive Optical Network (PON) and Point-to-Point (PtP) variations, and FTTx/VDSL. The aim of this analysis is to provide deeper insight on the impact of new deployments on the energyconsumption of the ICT sector and the effects of energyconsumption on the life-cycle cost of NGANs. The paper presents also an energyconsumption comparison of the presented architectures, particularized in the specific geographic and demographic distribution of users of Spain, but easily extendable to other countries.

Presentación realizada en el PhD Seminar del ITS 2011 en Budapest. ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies) currently account for 2% of total carbon emissions. However, although modern standards require strict measures to reduce energy consumption across all industrial and services sectors, the ICT sector also faces an increase in services and bandwidth demand. The deployment of Next Generation Networks (NGN) will be the answer to this new demand; more specifically, Next Generation Access Networks (NGANs) will provide higher bandwidth access to users. Several policy and cost analyses are being carried out to understand the risks and opportunities of new deployments, but the question of what role energy consumption plays in NGANs seems off the table. El objetivo del presente Proyecto Fin de Grado es la realización de una comparativa de los resultados obtenidos en las medidas de SAR (tasa de absorción específica) y potencia utilizando la normativa europea CENELEC (basada en la del IEC) y la americana FCC (basada en la del IEEE) para distintos dispositivos móviles duales. En primer lugar se ha realizado el estudio de sus características de potencia y de SAR, viendo la variación que hay con respecto a las distintas normativas y rangos de frecuencias. En algunos casos, aunque funcionan sin problema alguno en las diferentes bandas, la diferencia de niveles de emisiones obtenidos en las diferentes bandas puede ser notable. Como se ha comentado al comienzo, se han utilizado diferentes dispositivos duales y se realizaron en ellos las medidas pertinentes utilizando las diferentes normativas y el procedimiento indicado en cada una de ellas. Para observar las diferencias concretas que pudieran existir al utilizar las diferentes normativas, las medidas se han realizado en todas las bandas de funcionamiento del dispositivo y para cada una de ellas se han aplicado las diferentes normativas. Con esto se pretende evaluar si pudiera existir alguna discrepancia en los dispositivos que tienen el certificado de conformidad para una norma concreta cuando se utiliza en otra banda que no es exactamente la banda de utilización de esa norma. En resumen, se quería comprobar que un dispositivo que está certificado con la norma de una región, por ejemplo Europa (900 y 1800 MHz), también cumple si se utiliza en otra región, por ejemplo América (850 y 1900 MHz). La realización práctica del presente PFG se ha hecho en las instalaciones del Laboratorio de Radiofrecuencia de la Secretaría de Estado de Telecomunicación y para la Sociedad de la Información ubicado en El Casar (Guadalajara). En concreto se utilizó el robot articulado movible DASY4 y el software para su control DASY 52.8, disponible en el “banco de medida de Campos Electromagnéticos (Sala de SAR)”. La duración estimada del presente PFG ha sido aproximadamente de cuatro meses. Para llevar a cabo el presente PFG, se dispuso de todo tipo de material y recursos puestos a disposición por el Ministerio de Industria, Turismo y Comercio en el propio laboratorio, así como de los distintos terminales móviles duales con los que se realizaron las medidas pertinentes. Como bibliografía básica se han utilizado las diferentes normas indicadas anteriormente, es decir la norma europea CENELEC (basada en la del IEC) y la americana FCC (basada en la del IEEE), así como manuales de los equipos implicados en el bando de medida de SAR: analizadores de redes, robot articulado y software de control, así como el resto de dispositivos utilizados en las medidas. ABSTRACT. The goal of this Final Degree Project is to perform a comparison of the results obtained in SAR measurements (specific absorption rate) and power using the European standards CENELEC (based on IEC Regulation) and the American FCC (based on IEEE Regulation) to different mobile dual devices. If first place it was made the study of its power and SAR features, seeing that there is shift with respect to the different standards and frequency ranges. In some cases, although they work without any problem in different bands, the difference in levels of emissions obtained in the different bands can be significant. As mentioned at the beginning, different dual devices were used and relevant measurements were taken from them using the different standards and the procedure in each one of them. To see the specific differences that may exist when using the different standards, the measurements were made in all bands of the device operation and to each one it has been applied in the different standards. This attempted to assess whether there could be some discrepancy in the devices that have the certificate of compliance to a specify standard when used in another band that is not exactly the used band of this standard. To sum up, it was required to verify that a device which is certified to the standard of a region, for example (900 and 1800 MHz), also verifies if it is used in another region, for example America (850 and 1900 MHz). The practical realization of this Final Degree Project was made in the facilities of the Radio Frequency Laboratory of the Ministry of State for Telecommunications and the Information Society located in El Casar (Guadalajara). Specifically, the movable articulated robot DASY4 was used and the control software DASY 52.8, available in the “Measure Electromagnetic Field testbench (SAR room)”. The duration of this Final Degree Project has benn about four months. To carry out the present project, all kinds of materials and resources were provided by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade in its own laboratory, as well as the different mobile dual terminals with which relevant measurements were made. As basic references the different standards indicated above has been used, that is to say the European standard CENELEC (based on IEC standard) and the American FCC (based on IEEE standard), as well as the equipment manuals involved in the SAR measure testbench: network analyzers, articulated robot and control software, as well as the rest of the devices used in the measurements.

El sector de la edificación es uno de los principales sectores económicos en España y, además, es un componente básico de la actividad económica y social, debido a su importante papel como generador de empleo, proveedor de bienes e incentivador del crecimiento. Curiosamente, es uno de los sectores con menos regulación y organización y que, además, está formado mayoritariamente por empresas de pequeña y mediana dimensión (pymes) que, por su menor capacidad, a menudo, se quedan detrás de las grandes empresas en términos de adopción de soluciones innovadoras. La complejidad en la gestión de toda la información relacionada con un proyecto de edificación ha puesto de manifiesto claras ineficiencias que se traducen en un gasto innecesario bastante representativo. La información y los conocimientos aprendidos rara vez son transmitidos de una fase a otra dentro del proyecto de edificación y, mucho menos, reutilizados en otros proyectos similares. De este modo, no sólo se produce un gasto innecesario, sino que incluso podemos encontrar información contradictoria y obsoleta y, por tanto, inútil para la toma de decisiones. A lo largo de los años, esta situación ha sido motivada por la propia configuración del sector, poniendo de manifiesto la necesidad de una solución que pudiera solventar este reto de gestión interorganizacional. Así, la cooperación interorganizacional se ha convertido en un factor clave para mejorar la competitividad de las organizaciones, típicamente pymes, que componen el sector de la edificación. La información es la piedra angular de cualquier proceso de negocio. Durante la última década, una amplia gama de industrias han experimentado importantes mejoras de productividad con la aplicación eficiente de las TIC, asociadas, principalmente, a incrementos en la velocidad de proceso de información y una mayor coherencia en la generación de datos, accesibilidad e intercambio de información. La aplicación eficaz de las TIC en el sector de la edificación requiere una combinación de aspectos estratégicos y tácticos, puesto que no sólo se trata de utilizar soluciones puntuales importadas de otros sectores para su aplicación en diferentes áreas, sino que se buscaría que la información multi-agente estuviera integrada y sea coherente para los proyectos de edificación. El sector de la construcción ha experimentado un descenso significativo en los últimos años en España y en Europa como resultado de la crisis financiera que comenzó en 2007. Esta disminución está acompañada de una baja penetración de las TIC en la interorganizacionales orientadas a los procesos de negocio. El descenso del mercado ha provocado una desaceleración en el sector de la construcción, donde sólo las pymes flexibles han sido capaces de mantener el ritmo a pesar de la especialización y la innovación en los servicios adaptados a las nuevas demandas del mercado. La industria de la edificación está muy fragmentada en comparación con otras industrias manufactureras. El alto grado de esta fragmentación está íntimamente relacionado con un impacto significativo en la productividad y el rendimiento. Muchos estudios de investigación han desarrollado y propuesto una serie de modelos de procesos integrados. Por desgracia, en la actualidad todavía no se está en condiciones para la formalización de cómo debe ser la comunicación y el intercambio de información durante el proceso de construcción. El paso del proceso secuencial tradicional a los procesos de interdependencia recíproca sin lugar a duda son una gran demanda asociada a la comunicación y el flujo de información en un proyecto de edificación. Recientemente se está poniendo mucho énfasis en los servicios para el hogar como un primer paso hacia esta mejora en innovación ya que la industria de los servicios digitales interactivos tiene un alto potencial para generar innovación y la ventaja estratégica para las empresas existentes. La multiplicidad de servicios para el hogar digital (HD) y los proveedores de servicios demandan, cada vez más, la aparición de una plataforma capaz de coordinar a todos los agentes del sector con el usuario final. En consecuencia, las estructuras organizacionales tienden a descentralizarse en busca de esa coordinación y, como respuesta a esta demanda, se plantea, también en este ámbito, el concepto de cooperación interorganizacional. Por lo tanto, ambos procesos de negocio -el asociado a la construcción y el asociado a la provisión de servicios del hogar digital, también considerado como la propia gestión de ese hogar digital o edificio, inteligente o no- deben de ser vistos en su conjunto mediante una plataforma tecnológica que les dé soporte y que pueda garantizar la agregación e integración de los diversos procesos, relacionados con la construcción y gestión, que se suceden durante el ciclo de vida de un edificio. Sobre esta idea y atendiendo a la evolución permanente de los sistemas de información en un entorno de interrelación y cooperación daría lugar a una aplicación del concepto de sistema de información interorganizacional (SIIO). El SIIO proporciona a las organizaciones la capacidad para mejorar los vínculos entre los socios comerciales a lo largo de la cadena de suministro, por lo que su importancia ha sido reconocida por organizaciones de diversos sectores. Sin embargo, la adopción de un SIIO en diferentes ámbitos ha demostrado ser complicada y con una alta dependencia de las características particulares de cada sector, siendo, en este momento, una línea de investigación abierta. Para contribuir a esta línea de investigación, este trabajo pretende recoger, partiendo de una revisión de la literatura relacionada, un enfoque en un modelo de adopción de un SIIO para el objeto concreto de esta investigación. El diseño de un SIIO está basado principalmente, en la identificación de las necesidades de información de cada uno de sus agentes participantes, de ahí la importancia en concretar un modelo de SIIO en el ámbito de este trabajo. Esta tesis doctoral presenta el modelo de plataforma virtual de la asociación entre diferentes agentes del sector de la edificación, el marco de las relaciones, los flujos de información correspondientes a diferentes procesos y la metodología que subyace tras el propio modelo, todo ello, con el objeto de contribuir a un modelo unificado que dé soporte tanto a los procesos relacionados con la construcción como con la gestión de servicios en el hogar digital y permitiendo cubrir los requisitos importantes que caracterizan este tipo de proyectos: flexibilidad, escalabilidad y robustez. El SIIO se ha convertido en una fuente de innovación y una herramienta estratégica que permite a las pymes obtener ventajas competitivas. Debido a la complejidad inherente de la adopción de un SIIO, esta investigación extiende el modelo teórico de adopción de un SIIO de Kurnia y Johnston (2000) con un modelo empírico para la caracterización de un SIIO. El modelo resultante tiene como objetivo fomentar la innovación de servicios en el sector mediante la identificación de los factores que influyen en la adopción de un SIIO por las pymes en el sector de la edificación como fuente de ventaja competitiva y de colaboración. Por tanto, esta tesis doctoral, proyectada sobre una investigación empírica, proporciona un enfoque para caracterizar un modelo de SIIO que permita dar soporte a la gestión integrada de los procesos de construcción y gestión de servicios para el hogar digital. La validez del modelo de SIIO propuesto, como fuente y soporte de ventajas competitivas, está íntimamente relacionada con la necesidad de intercambio de información rápido y fiable que demandan los agentes del sector para mejorar la gestión de su interrelación y cooperación con el fin de abordar proyectos más complejos en el sector de la edificación, relacionados con la implantación del hogar digital, y contribuyendo, así a favorecer el desarrollo de la sociedad de la información en el segmento residencial. ABSTRACT The building industry is the largest industry in the world. Land purchase, building design, construction, furnishing, building equipment, operations maintenance and the disposition of real estate have an unquestionable prominence not only at economic but also at social level. In Spain, the building sector is one of the main drivers of economy and also a basic component of economic activity and its role in generating employment, supply of goods or incentive for growth is crucial in the evolution of the economy. Surprisingly, it is one of the sectors with less regulation and organization. Another consistent problem is that, in this sector, the majority of companies are small and medium (SMEs), and often behind large firms in terms of their adoption of innovative solutions. The complexity of managing all information related to this industry has lead to a waste of money and time. The information and knowledge gathered is frequently stored in multiple locations, involving the work of thousands of people, and is rarely transferred on to the next phase. This approach is inconsistent and makes that incorrect information is used for decisions. This situation needs a viable solution for interorganizational information management. So, interorganizational co-operation has become a key factor for organization competitiveness within the building sector. Information is the cornerstone of any business process. Therefore, information and communication technologies (ICT) offer a means to change the way business is conducted. During the last decade, significant productivity improvements were experienced by a wide range of industries with ICT implementation. ICT has provided great advantages in speed of operation, consistency of data generation, accessibility and exchange of information. The wasted money resulting from reentering information, errors and omissions caused through poor decisions and actions, and the delays caused while waiting for information, represent a significant percentage of the global benefits. The effective application of ICT in building construction sector requires a combination of strategic and tactical developments. The building sector has experienced a significant decline in recent years in Spain and in Europe as a result of the financial crisis that began in 2007. This drop goes hand in hand with a low penetration of ICT in inter-organizational-oriented business processes. The market decrease has caused a slowdown in the building sector, where only flexible SMEs have been able to keep the pace though specialization and innovation in services adapted to new market demands. The building industry is highly fragmented compared with other manufacturing industries. This fragmentation has a significant negative impact on productivity and performance. Many research studies have developed and proposed a number of integrated process models. Unfortunately, these studies do not suggest how communication and information exchange within the construction process can be achieved, without duplication or lost in quality. A change from the traditional sequential process to reciprocal interdependency processes would increase the demand on communication and information flow over the edification project. Focusing on home services, the digital interactive service industry has the potential to generate innovation and strategic advantage for existing business. Multiplicity of broadband home services (BHS) and suppliers suggest the need for a figure able to coordinate all the agents in sector with the final user. Consequently, organizational structures tend to be decentralized. Responding to this fact, the concept of interorganizational co-operation also is raising in the residential market. Therefore, both of these business processes, building and home service supply, must be complemented with a technological platform that supports these processes and guarantees the aggregation and integration of the several services over building lifecycle. In this context of a technological platform and the permanent evolution of information systems is where the relevance of the concept of inter-organizational information system (IOIS) emerges. IOIS improves linkages between trading partners along the supply chain. However, IOIS adoption has proved to be difficult and not fully accomplished yet. This research reviews the literature in order to focus a model of IOIS adoption. This PhD Thesis presents a model of virtual association, a framework of the relationships, an identification of the information requirements and the corresponding information flows, using the multi-agent system approach. IOIS has become a source of innovation and a strategic tool for SMEs to obtain competitive advantage. Because of the inherent complexity of IOIS adoption, this research extends Kurnia and Johnston’s (2000) theoretical model of IOIS adoption with an empirical model of IOIS characterization. The resultant model aims to foster further service innovation in the sector by identifying the factors influencing IOIS adoption by the SMEs in the building sector as a source of competitive and collaborative advantage. Therefore, this PhD Thesis characterizes an IOIS model to support integrated management of building processes and home services. IOIS validity, as source and holder of competitive advantages, is related to the need for reliable information interchanges to improve interrelationship management. The final goal is to favor tracking of more complex projects in building sector and to contribute to consolidation of the information society through the provision of broadband home services and home automation.

Introdução: A preocupação e a incorporação da problemática da saúde mental infantil nas políticas públicas de saúde são recentes, assim como o desenvolvimento de ações voltadas a esse cuidado. Preconiza-se que essa atenção se proceda a partir de uma rede composta por serviços atuando de modo articulado a outros setores. Objetivo: Analisar os processos e as condições de produção de cuidados em saúde mental de criança na perspectiva do modo psicossocial na Rede de Atenção Psicossocial. Método: Pesquisa qualitativa, com referencial teórico-metodológico oriundo da Análise Institucional, desenvolvida por meio de Observação Participante em (1) espaços de articulação entre serviços de saúde, (2) Unidade Básica de Saúde e (3) Centro de Atenção Psicossocial Infantojuvenil (CAPSi) no município de Mauá, São Paulo. A Observação Participante permitiu reconhecer os procedimentos de cuidados no cotidiano dos serviços. Para aprofundamento da investigação, foram realizados Grupos Focais com profissionais da Estratégia de Saúde da Família e do CAPSi, com familiares de crianças que frequentam o CAPSi e com crianças usuárias do serviço. Os dados foram analisados e interpretados a partir de conceitos advindos da psicanálise winnicottiana, do modo de atenção psicossocial e da análise institucional. Resultados e Discussão: O interesse, o investimento político e o direcionamento das ações e da organização dos serviços, coerentes com a lógica de atenção psicossocial, têm propiciado um terreno fértil para a construção de práticas transformadoras de cuidado em saúde mental. A incorporação desse cuidado na Atenção Básica, ainda que apresente desafios e tensões entre o modelo instituído (departamentalizado em especialidades) e instituinte (saúde mental integrante da saúde geral), levou a mudanças nas ações e concepções dos profissionais. Contudo, o desenvolvimento de ações intersetoriais e a construção de uma rede ampliada de atenção têm sido limitados pela escassez de serviços e profissionais da rede e por diferentes concepções que atravessam o campo. Os participantes da pesquisa expressam visão conflitante em relação à concepção acerca de problemas de saúde mental e das expectativas quanto ao cuidado, sendo observada forte presença de uma cultura psiquiátrica, que se acentua nas falas dos familiares e na articulação com outros serviços, e uma inclinação a favor da atenção psicossocial, mais presente nas expressões dos profissionais. Nos serviços de saúde, há movimentos instituintes que enfatizam a integralidade da atenção, a interdisciplinaridade do cuidado, a multideterminação do processo saúde-doença, alinhados ao modo de atenção psicossocial. O acolhimento, o vínculo, a escuta e a confiança, importantes elementos do cuidado estão presente nas ações dos serviços. As intervenções terapêuticas têm sido desenvolvidas a partir da singularidade dos casos por meio de Projetos Terapêuticos Individuais, embora sejam consideradas aquém das necessidades das crianças, limitações advindas da escassez de profissionais e serviços da rede. Considerações Finais: Embora os serviços de saúde atuem na direção do cuidado alicerçado no modo psicossocial, eles têm atuado de forma pouco articulada com outros setores. A hegemonia da cultura psiquiátrica é um desafio a ser enfrentado. São urgentes ações que possam promover mudanças nessa cultura predominante e no imaginário social no que toca aos problemas de saúde mental e aceitação das diferenças.
