Introdução: A utilização de diferentes intensidades em sessões de exercícios com pesos, para os músculos extensores do cotovelo, tem proporcionado diferenças na sustentabilidade das repetições e no volume total. Entretanto, devido às alterações do desempenho neuromuscular inter-membros, tais evidências não podem ser extrapoladas para membros inferiores. Objetivo: Comparar a resposta aguda de sessões de exercício com pesos, realizadas com diferentes intensidades, na sustentabilidade das repetições e no volume total, em idosas treinadas. Materiais e Métodos: Participaram do estudo 16 idosas (68,3 +-6,0 anos) treinadas com pesos. Os dados foram coletados em cinco sessões, separadas por no mínimo 48 horas de descanso. A intensidade, em quilogramas, do teste de repetições máximas (15 RM) foi determinada nas duas primeiras visitas e confirmada na terceira. Nas quarta e quinta visitas, foram realizadas as sessões com as diferentes intensidades (em uma sessão - três séries até a fadiga muscular concêntrica, com a intensidade de 100% de 15 RM; na outra sessão - duas séries de 15 repetições e na terceira série até a fadiga muscular concêntrica, com a intensidade de 90% de 15 RM). Em ambas as sessões, o intervalo de recuperação utilizado entre as séries foi de dois minutos. Todas as participantes realizaram ambos os protocolos e um delineamento crossover balanceado foi utilizado para determinar a ordem das sessões. Resultados: O teste t de Student para amostras dependentes demonstrou que o volume total da sessão de teste com 90% de 15 RM foi significativamente superior (22,5%; P < 0,01) ao da sessão com 100% de 15 RM. The prescription of strength training intensity (ST) by maximum repetition (RM) is characterized by a decrease in the number of repetitions in multiple series. Some studies have shown that reductions in the intensity of exercise can optimize the volume of training with similar acute neuromuscular behaviors. The objective of the study was to investigate the acute effect of two different ST intensities on the training volume, maximum voluntary contraction (MVC) and rate of force development (RFD) in elderly women. The study included eight trained women (66.7 ± 6.7 years; 7.6 ± 17.8 kg; 159 cm; 29.33 ± 5.80 kg/m²). They underwent to three experimental conditions: two different intensities of ST (100% and 80% of 15-RM) on a chair for Leg Extension and a control condition. In the condition to 100% of 15 RM, all participants performed three sets to the concentric muscle fatigue, whereas in the condition to 80% involved the use of two sets of 15 repetitions and only the third to the concentric muscle fatigue. The order of experimental conditions was randomized. The MVC and RFD were determined on the basis of the isometric forcetime curve analysis which was obtained by a force transducer fixed on the unit Bonnet Chair, in the pre and after four and ten minutes for each experimental conditions. The total volume was calculated by multiplying the number of repetitions in three sets by the load in kg. Descriptive statistical analysis procedures were employed (mean ± standard deviation) in addition to two-way ANOVA. The level of significance was set at p <0.05. It was neither main effect of moment or condition, nor condition x moment interaction for MVC and RFD. Em trabalho anterior, observou-se que diferentes grupamentos musculares submetidos ao teste de exaustão (TE) com pesos respondem semelhantemente com hemoconcentração, acidose e aumento da glicemia, entretanto, com variações grupomuscular dependentes. Nesse estudo, é comparado o efeito do impacto provocado pelo TE envolvendo, conjuntamente, 5, 4 ou 3 exercícios por meio da análise desses marcadores bioquímicos. Foram estudados 21 indivíduos do sexo masculino (20-32 anos) voluntários, familiarizados com treinamento em musculação, estratificados em três grupos de acordo com o número de exercícios: grupo 5 ( n= 6) 5 exercícios (Extensão do cotovelo, desenvolvimento pela frente, supino reto, levantamento terra e agachamento), grupo 4 (n= 7) 4 exercícios (Supino reto, rosca direta com barra, agachamento hack, tríceps no pulley), grupo 3 (n= 8) 3 exercícios (Agachamento hack, supino reto, rosca direta ) . Todos foram submetidos à sobrecarga inicial de 80% de uma repetição máxima (1RM), até a exaustão, em seguida, com auxílio externo e sem interrupção do exercício, a carga foi reduzida em 20% do peso, até a impossibilidade de continuidade de realização do exercício com a carga mínima (20% de 1RM). O sangue coletado em veia cubital antes (At) e imediatamente após (Ap) o TE foi analisado para indicadores hemogasimétricos (pH, pO2, pCO2, HCO- 3), hemoconcentração (Ht) e glicemia. O efeito do TE sobre cada variável (At/Ap) foi avaliado comparando-se os grupos por meio de ANOVA-medidas repetidas para significância de p=0,05. Houve significância (p<0,05) na elevação do Ht, glicose e pO2 e redução do pH, PCO2 e HCO- 3, Entretanto houve diferença significativa entre os grupos apenas em relação ao HCO- 3, no qual este apresentou maior variação no G4 em relação ao demais. Assim, esses marcadores sistêmicos respondem a exaustão muscular de modo semelhante ao envolvimento de 3,4 ou 5 grupamentos musculares

O desenvolvimento de sistemas de liberação de fármacos tem sido muito utilizado com o intuito de melhorar as propriedades biofarmacêuticas de fármacos. Sistemas de liberação controlada oferecem inúmeras vantagens quando comparados aos sistemas convencionais, o que os tornam candidatos promissores para a melhora da terapia de diversas doenças. Para o desenvolvimento destes sistemas, várias estratégias utilizam polímeros para modificar as propriedades farmacotécnicas das substâncias e partículas, com o objetivo de melhorar o direcionamento dos fármacos, bem como sua ação e toxicidade. Dentre estes polímeros, os mais utilizados são os polissacarídeos, por serem amplamente disponíveis e de baixo custo. São encontrados na natureza, em fontes diversas, como plantas, algas, microorganismos e animais. O dextrano, um polímero produzido por microorganismos, bem como seus derivados, têm recebido bastante atenção devido às suas características, como baixa toxicidade e alta degradabilidade enzimática, as quais o torna viável para o carreamento de fármacos. Com o dextrano é possível preparar sistemas de liberação controlada, uma vez que é possível se obter hidrogéis a partir dele, sem a utilização de reticulantes químicos. Hidrogéis são redes poliméricas tridimensionais hidrofílicas, que absorvem grande quantidade de água ou fluido biológico sem se dispersarem, o que denota a capacidade de intumescimento. Em sistemas de liberação baseados em hidrogéis, o perfil de intumescimento é uma característica de grande importância, pois pode modificar a propriedade de transporte do fármaco. The aim of this study was to determine the angle of motion values for hindlimbs in clinically healthy adult Santa Ines sheep using a standard goniometer. Twenty female Santa Ines sheep weighing 32–45 kg (mean30.4, SD=3.7), and aged from three to six years old were used. A standard transparent plastic goniometer was used to measure passive maximum flexion, maximum extension, and range of motion (ROM) of the shoulder, elbow, carpal, hip, stifle, and tarsal joints, in the right and left limbs. The goniometric measurements were done with the sheep awake and in a standing position. The measurements were made in triplicate by two independent investigators. In all evaluated joints there was no significant difference between the means of both sides. No significant difference was observed between measurements performed by the two investigators. The mean (± SD) values of the measurements (degrees) were: 129 ± 4 (ROM) for tarsal joint; 46 ± 4 (flexion), 146 ± 6 (extension), and 100 ± 4 (ROM) for stifle joint; 54 ± 3 (flexion), 143 ± 7 (extension), and 89 ± 5 (ROM) for hip joint. The data obtained is useful to provide objective information of the joints. More studies are necessary using other breeds

Dezesseis atletas treinados em musculação (grupo AN = 7) ou em corridas de longa distância (AE = 9) foram submetidos a exercícios de máxima intensidade específicos e inespecíficos a sua modalidade de treinamento. A influência da especificidade do treinamento sobre as alterações promovidas por sessões agudas de exercício exaustivo nos parâmetros hemodinâmicos, de dano muscular e de estresse oxidativo foi analisada, e foram comparados os padrões de resposta aos exercícios entre os dois grupos. Os testes máximos consistiram de teste exaustivo em esteira, utilizando protocolo de rampa, e teste com pesos utilizando cargas iniciais de 80% de 1RM, progressivamente reduzidas, até a exaustão, em dois exercícios que abrangeram grupos musculares distintos. Foram realizadas coletas de sangue antes e imediatamente após os exercícios para a determinação de indicadores de hemoconcentração, de lesão muscular, de processo inflamatório e determinação de parâmetros hemogasimétricos. A glicemia se elevou significativamente após os testes somente para o grupo AE. Foram verificados aumentos significativos na acidose devidos a elevação das concentrações de lactato, H+ combinados a redução do HCO3-. Foram observadas variações significativas nas concentrações dos íons sódio e potássio. Também houveram aumentos significativos nas concentrações de CPK e DHL. Além disso, houveram elevações das concentrações plasmáticas e dos leucócitos. Dentro dos parâmetros analisados, as respostas observadas não foram uniformes em comparação aos dois grupos, e houve variação também interna aos grupos, quando comparados os exercícios específicos aos inespecíficos. Os resultados apontam que embora seja esperada uma resposta metabólica característica após o esforço físico exaustivo, a especificidade do treinamento é determinante sobre os processos adaptativos... Acceleration is a key parameter for engineering and is becoming increasingly important because of the need for companies to become more competitive in the market. Both applying new technologies to their products and optimizing their process lines with predictive maintenance and robotic automation. This study aims to analyze the quality of the signals obtained from a capacitive accelerometer. To do that a test rig was mounted, which consist of a shaker, fed by a signal generator, a linear potentiometer and a capacitive accelerometer; for the signal acquisition was used a acquisition board and the Labview software, in order to integrate twice the signal from the accelerometer and compare it with the sign of the potentiometer. This work also demonstrates the impact of acquired signal processing as well as techniques of pre and post processing of signal via software GNU/Octave

The Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative and progressive disease, mostly seen in elderly people, characterized by memory loss. This commitment leads causes deficits in functional capacity, compromising the individual in execution of activities of daily living, like dressing and bathing. This study, with a longitudinal character, aimed analyze the effects of a protocol of weights training (WT) in global cognitive status and realization of activities of daily living (ADL´s) basic and instrumental in AD patients, comparing the effects of four months of WT in the performance of ADL´s in global cognitive status. And also aimed to verify the possible relations between ADL's and global cognitive status of patients before and after the experimental period. The study included 24 patients with clinical diagnosis of AD, divided into two groups: a) training group (TG) consisted of 13 patients who underwent a protocol of WT b) Social Gathering Group (SCG) consists of 11 patients participating in a protocol of social gathering not systematized with activities of reading, writing and walking. Both protocols lasted four months, being developed in three non-consecutive weekly sessions, lasting 60 minutes each. To quantify global cognitive status and the basic and instrumental ADLs were used, respectively, the Mini-Mental State Examination and the Self Perception of Performance in Activities of Daily Living, along with the battery of tests of Activities of Daily Life of Andreotti and Okuma (1999). To analyze the results where complied the nature of the data, using analysis of variance for repeated measures ANOVA two-way and Pearson correlation for continuous data and tests of U Mann Whitney, Wilcoxon and Spearman correlation for non-continuous data, assuming level significance of 5% for all analysis. The hardness has an important role in quality control, in research studies and metallurgical and mechanical specification, selection and comparison of various materials. This property is of extreme importance in the oil industry because it is a determining factor to ascertain the safety of the material used in pressure vessels and pipelines. Due to the inability to stop the equipment while checking the hardness, the hardness testers are widely used portable method UCI, its great advantage is the fact that an essay fast, simple realization and not be considered a non-destructive testing with a good relationship money. The objective is to determine if there is significant difference in hardness measurements between 80 and 1200 sandpaper using a portable hardness tester UCI method, the material applied in gas storage spheres composition ASTM 516 Gr 70. After determining the number of homogeneity, we performed the hardness profile to isolate the major factors influencing the hardness part: cold rolling and segregation of impurities. Factors Cooling and sanding were analyzed using the method of design of experiments (DOE), in which it was demonstrated that neither variables nor their interactions, has significant influence on the hardness measurements by portable MIC 10. This fact will lead to reduction in time and cost for surface preparation

The society continues demonstrating its need regarding the products and services, even though it becomes increasingly value the protection of the environment. In this context, environmental management is defined as a management method that emphasizes to continuously improve results and promote sustainable development. Moreover it has as a tool the laws which provide the benchmarks and mechanisms for companies to adapt their activities in such a way that does not alter the quality of the environment. In this sense, in order to propose improvements to a dairy aiming their environmental suitability, a present study was prepared by following the production activities of the enterprise, the raising of standards and applicable legal requirements and environmental assessment for the preparation of an array of aspects and impacts with the task of identifying the most significant according to MOREIRA (2006). The results indicated that some of the impacts of high relevance are related to the generation of wastewater and solid waste, which do not have treatment and / or proper disposal and indeed require intervention for their suitability. Through, these results were drawn up proposals for actions conformation. In addition, they were proposed meeting the requirement for health and safety at work, in accordance with the standard regulations. This study has the function, therefore, propose to the company in question, an environmental management plan that ensures the protection of the environment and health of employees and consequently the improvement of production processes and products

The Alzheimer's dementia (AD) is the most prevalent form of dementia in the elderly. Among the harmful changes arising from the DA, there may be sleep disturbance and impaired quality of life. Physical activity is an important non-pharmacological feature that would provide positive effects for the treatment of disease. However, there are still few studies that clarify the effects of resistance training in this population. Thus, the present study has as objective analyzes the effects of the resistance training in sleep disturbance and quality of life of patients with AD. Participated in this study 22 patients with clinical diagnosis of AD divided into two groups: Training Group (TG) and Social Interaction Group (SIG). The subjects of TG underwent a resistance training protocol, appropriate to the individual conditions, during three days no consecutive in the week, with duration of 60 minutes each session, for 16 weeks. The SIG won't participate in any systematized physical activity, but they realized other activities, such as reading, poetry, hiking and painting, among others. This protocol also was realized three times in week for 16 weeks, with duration of 60 minutes each session. Both groups were assessed at the beginning of the program and after 16 weeks. For the assessment of sleep disturbance was used the Mini Sleep Questionnaire and to assess of quality of life was used the Scale for Assessment of Quality of Life in Alzheimer's disease (QL), versions: patient, caregiver, family and the final score. Due to the scalar nature of the data and small sample, all variables were analyzed by nonparametric statistics. In the last years, environmental issues are being gradually addressed because of awareness regarding the limitation of natural resources for the maintenance of life on Earth, and the role played by the media in reporting on various issues that are related to the theme. In the industrial sector, this topic becomes ever more present in its planning. With the increase of production activities, the generation of waste causes many complications, both in industry and in the environment. For this reason laws and rules were created so that such problems are minimized, thus causing less impact on the environment. In this work was a study of the possible environmental impacts in a soybean crushing industry, situated in the city of Osvaldo Cruz, São Paulo state, detailing the sources and impacts of waste generation, and associate them relevant laws. From this, measures were proposed measures of adequacy involving compliance with commitments to environmental agencies, relevant requests of buyers and / or suppliers and improving environmental performance

This paper consists in applying the Modern Theory of Portfolio (MPT) using central position measurements for modeling the return on investment fund of a renowned financial institution and compare with the Medium- CVaR model. The measurement of risks and returns becomes increasingly important for investors to minimize their losses to maximize thus their possibilities of earnings, taking into account sudden change scenarios. We present concepts of investment funds used as data and research on central position measurements to determine which measure was more suitable. To assemble the Efficient Frontier of assets considering the method proposed measure of central position-CVaR position is used MatLab. Then, after getting the Frontier, it was possible to compare it with the Medium-CVaR model, already proven effective. Finally, we analyze the viability of the proposed model in portfolio management
