APPROACH AND TREATMENT OF SUICIDAL BEHAVIOR IN THE CLINICAL PRACTICE OF DIFFERENT GROUPS OF HEALTH PROFESSIONALS IN SPAIN: RESULTS OF THE PROJECT EUREGENA.

According to the WHO (World Health Organization) and the European Union, suicide is considered to be a health problem of prime importance and to be one of the principal causes of unnatural death. In Spain, the number of suicides has increased 12% since 2005 . The Research Project “European Regions Enforcing Actions against Suicide (EUREGENAS), funded by the Health Program 2008-2013, has as main objective the description of an integrated model of Mental Health orientated to the prevention of suicide. The differences that allow distinguishing the meaning of prevention in suicide behavior are described and explained through a qualitative methodological strategy and through the creation of discussion groups formed by different groups of health professionals. The results highlight the existing differences between the diverse health professionals who come more in contact with this problem and it shows as well the coincidence of meaning that suicide has to be considered as a priority in the field of health.

Genetic team composition and level of selection in the evolution of cooperation

In cooperative multiagent systems, agents interac to solve tasks. Global dynamics of multiagent teams result from local agent interactions, and are complex and difficult to predict. Evolutionary computation has proven a promising approach to the design of such teams. The majority of current studies use teams composed of agents with identical control rules ("geneti- cally homogeneous teams") and select behavior at the team level ("team-level selection"). Here we extend current approaches to include four combinations of genetic team composition and level of selection. We compare the performance of genetically homo- geneous teams evolved with individual-level selection, genetically homogeneous teams evolved with team-level selection, genetically heterogeneous teams evolved with individual-level selection, and genetically heterogeneous teams evolved with team-level selection. We use a simulated foraging task to show that the optimal combination depends on the amount of cooperation required by the task. Accordingly, we distinguish between three types of cooperative tasks and suggest guidelines for the optimal choice of genetic team composition and level of selection

MVD Quarterly Report on Building Project quarter ending March 31, 2007

Pursuant to Section 1 of House File 466 of the 81st General Assembly, the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) is required to make quarterly reports to the Legislative Council regarding the progress of the building project for the Motor Vehicle Division and to inform the General Assembly of any significant delays or unanticipated expenditures. During the quarter ending March 31, 2007, the project progressed as planned. The project is on schedule and no unanticipated expenditures have been made.

La tecnologia dels primers pobladors de l'Europa occidental

El projecte de recerca titulat La tecnologia dels primers pobladors de l’Europa occidental s’ha centrat en l’anàlisi i comparació dels instruments lítics procedents d’una selecció de jaciments arqueològics de les illes Britàniques (Happisburgh sites 3 i 1, Pakefield, Boxgrove i High Lodge) i de la península Ibèrica (Sima del Elefante, Gran Dolina, Galería i la Boella). L’objectiu principal era avaluar si el primer poblament del continent mostrava o no una homogeneïtat tecnològica, si s’observaven patrons temporals similars, i si es podien distingir línies evolutives diferents en l’àmbit comportamental durant el primer mig milió d’anys de presència humana a Europa. El pla de treball ha consistit essencialment en una estada de membres de l’IPHES de Anglaterra i en una estada dels membres anglesos a Catalunya. A banda, s’ha generat un contracte de suport tècnic a l’IPHES, que ha permès gestionar satisfactòriament bona part de les dades obtingudes. Aquestes accions, a banda de consolidar la xarxa de científica anglo-catalana establerta en el marc de la convocatòria PBR de 2008, han permès obtenir un coneixement de primera mà tant dels jaciments com dels materials arqueològics presos en consideració. Els resultats preliminars obtinguts en aquest projecte estan actualment en discussió, i de ben segur tindran un paper central a l’hora de formular noves hipòtesis relatives al primer poblament humà d’Europa.

Quarterly Report of the Building Project for the Motor Vehicle Division

Pursuant to Section 1 of House File 466 of the 81st General Assembly, the Iowa Department of Transportation is required to make quarterly reports to the Legislative Council regarding the progress of the building project for the Motor Vehicle Division. During the quarter ending June 30, 2007, the project was delayed by two weeks. The Motor Vehicle Division moved into the new Ankeny facility on June 22 and was operational Monday, June 25. The driver's license stations reopened as scheduled Tuesday, June 26, at the Ankeny facility as well as the Oliver Plaza renewal location.

La intenció d’aquest projecte final és donar més informació sobre els concerts de Txaikovski per a Piano i Orquestra a través d’ una contextualització socio-cultural, una recerca entorn a les inspiracions estètiques del compositor i en els concerts en particular, així com les influències que aquests van tenir per als seus contemporanis. El treball es divideix en quatre grans capítols d’ estudi i recerca històrica, així com breus anàlisis per a situar en concret les inspiracions estètiques de les que es parla. Com a repertori de concert s’ interpreta, doncs, un dels concerts en la seva totalitat: el Concert per a Piano i Orquestra No.1, Op.23 en Si bemoll menor.
