O presente trabalho tem por objetivo a observação da influência de A Condição Pós-Moderna sobre as abordagens do pós-moderno em música realizadas após a 1980. Para tal tarefa, será utilizada a noção lyotardiana de pós-moderno como incredulidade nas metanarrativas de legitimação do saber. Esta influência será observada perante importantes textos relativos ao pós-moderno musical e na maneira como algumas obras da música clássica de concerto realizada na década de 1990 e 2000 se relacionam com tal incredulidade.

A proposta da autora foi a de refletir sobre a prática da Educação Musical de jovens entre 11 e 14 anos, o que fez utilizando pesquisa realizada no Colégio São José, de São Bernardo do Campo, na Grande São Paulo. Ela quis saber, principalmente, se é levada em conta a distância existente entre a realidade escolar e a realidade do jovem, tendo para isso aberto um diálogo com o universo do adolescente - a capacidade de invenção, a percepção do ambiente acústico, visual, social e cultural e o contexto escolar. O livro conduz a uma reflexão a respeito da relação professor, aluno e sociedade e ao questionamento dos modos de ser e de compreender desses públicos, assim como deixa patente a necessidade de entendimento da cultura adolescente para que as fronteiras entre escola, música e cultura jovem convivam de maneira complexa e criativa e com maiores possibilidades de diálogo. A pesquisa, qualitativa, baseou-se na teoria da complexidade aplicada à educação, tal como ela foi desenvolvida pelo filósofo francês Edgard Morin, e no uso de subsídios emprestados da Antropologia, Psicologia, Pedagogia, Artes Visuais e Educação Musical, com destaque para os trabalhos de Garcia-Canclini, Paulo Freire, Babin e H. J. e Koellreutter

Este livro foi inspirado nas experiências do diretor musical, ator e bonequeiro Paulo César Cardozo de Miranda nas áreas artísticas e pedagógicas, direcionadas a crianças, educadores e arte-educadores e relacionadas à contação de histórias, jogos, brincadeiras, teatro de bonecos, entre outras. Tais experiências suscitaram no autor inquietações referentes à educação, em especial no que tange às relações entre professor e aluno vistos como indivíduos preocupados com seu desenvolvimento pessoal e, especificamente, com a música. Ele focaliza questões que envolvem jogos e brincadeiras enquanto expressões musicais, a presença do lúdico na música e no ensino e, também, as implicações dessas atividades na formação de professores e músicos. Cardozo de Miranda propõe a compreensão dos jogos e brincadeiras não só como próprios da vida social, mas também como práticas pertinentes à Educação Musical, Educação e Estudos Sociais. Aqui, ele é movido inclusive pela constatação de que, apesar da obrigatoriedade do ensino da Música na educação básica, instituída por lei em 2008, há lacunas na pesquisa relacionada aos conhecimentos necessários para atender às demandas didáticas nessa área pedagógica. As reflexões do autor são apoiadas por trabalho de campo realizado com alunos de 10 e 11 anos do sexto ano de escola pública estadual da cidade de São Paulo. A pesquisa procurou levantar aspectos das realidades musicais das crianças, investigando principalmente a possível existência de repertórios de memória individual e coletiva

This experiment evaluated temperament, vaginal temperature, and plasma cortisol in beef cows from wolf-naive and wolf-experienced origins that were subjected to a simulated wolf encounter. Multiparous, pregnant, nonlactating Angus-crossbreed cows from the Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Center located near Burns, OR (CON; n = 50), and from a commercial operation near Council, ID (WLF; n = 50), were used. To date, grey wolves are not present around Burns, OR, and thus CON were naive to wolves. Conversely, wolves are present around Council, ID, and WLF cows were selected from a herd that had experienced multiple confirmed wolf-predation episodes from 2008 to 2012. Following a 50-d commingling and adaptation period, CON and WLF cows were ranked by temperament, BW, and BCS and allocated to 5 groups (d 0; 10 CON and 10 WLF cows/group). Groups were individually subjected to the experimental procedures on d 2 (n = 3) and d 3 (n = 2). Before the simulated wolf encounter, cow temperament was assessed and blood samples and vaginal temperatures (using intravaginal data loggers) were collected (presimulation assessments). Cows were then sorted by origin, moved to 2 adjacent drylot pens (10 WLF and 10 CON cows/pen), and subjected to a simulated wolf encounter event for 20 min, which consisted of 1) cotton plugs saturated with wolf urine attached to the drylot fence, 2) continuous reproduction of wolf howls, and 3) 3 leashed dogs that were walked along the fence perimeter. Thereafter, WLF and CON cows were commingled and returned to the handling facility for postsimulation assessments, which were conducted immediately after exposure to wolf-urine-saturated cotton plugs, wolf howl reproduction, and 20-s exposure to the 3 dogs while being restrained in a squeeze chute. Chute score, temperament score, and plasma cortisol concentration increased (P <= 0.01) from pre- to postsimulation assessment in WLF but did not change in CON cows (P >= 0.19). Exit velocity decreased (P = 0.01) from pre-to postsimulation assessment in CON but did not change (P = 0.79) in WLF cows. In addition, WLF cows had a greater (P = 0.03) increase in temperature from pre-to postsimulation assessments compared with CON cows. In conclusion, the simulated wolf encounter increased excitability and fear-related physiological stress responses in cows that originated from a wolf-experienced herd but not in cows that originated from a wolf-naive herd.

Introduction: The literature has shown that musical stimulation can influence the cardiovascular system, however, the neurophysiological aspects of this influence are not yet fully elucidated. Objective: This study describes the influence of music on the neurophysiological mechanisms in the human body, specifically the variable blood pressure, as well as the neural mechanisms of music processing. Methods: Searches were conducted in Medline, PEDro, Lilacs and SciELO using the intersection of the keyword “music” with the keyword descriptors “blood pressure” and “neurophysiology”. Results: There were selected 11 articles, which indicated that music interferes in some aspects of physiological variables. Conclusion: Studies have indicated that music interferes on the control of blood pressure, heart and respiratory rate, through possible involvement of limbic brain areas which modulate hypothalamic-pituitary functions. Further studies are needed in order to identify the mechanisms by which this influence occurs.

Background: Chronic exposure to musical auditory stimulation has been reported to improve cardiac autonomic regulation. However, it is not clear if music acutely influences it in response to autonomic tests. We evaluated the acute effects of music on heart rate variability (HRV) responses to the postural change maneuver (PCM) in women. Method: We evaluated 12 healthy women between 18 and 28 years old and HRV was analyzed in the time (SDNN, RMSSD, NN50 and pNN50) and frequency (LF, HF and LF/HF ratio) domains. In the control protocol, the women remained at seated rest for 10 minutes and quickly stood up within three seconds and remained standing still for 15 minutes. In the music protocol, the women remained at seated rest for 10 minutes, were exposed to music for 10 minutes and quickly stood up within three seconds and remained standing still for 15 minutes. HRV was recorded at the following time: rest, music (music protocol) 0–5, 5–10 and 10–15 min during standing. Results: In the control protocol the SDNN, RMSSD and pNN50 indexes were reduced at 10–15 minutes after the volunteers stood up, while the LF (nu) index was increased at the same moment compared to seated rest. In the protocol with music, the indexes were not different from control but the RMSSD, pNN50 and LF (nu) were different from the music period. Conclusion: Musical auditory stimulation attenuates the cardiac autonomic responses to the PCM.

Introduction: Previous studies have shown that relaxation music increases the heart's parasympathetic modulation as well as reducing its sympathetic activity. However, what is lacking in the literature is information on the acute effects of different intensities of music on cardiac autonomic regulation. We aimed to evaluate the acute effects of baroque and heavy-metal music on cardiac autonomic regulation at different intensities. Method The study was performed in 16 healthy men aged between 18 and 25 years. The main outcomes were the geometric indices of heart-rate variability (HRV) [i.e. triangular index (RRtri); triangular interpolation of RR intervals (TINN) and Poincaré plot: SD1, SD2 and SD1/SD2 ratio]. First, HRV was recorded at rest for 10 min. The volunteers were then exposed to baroque or heavy-metal music for 5 min through an earphone; subjects were exposed to each song at three different sound levels (60–70, 70–80 and 80–90 decibels). After the first song, subjects remained at rest for 5 min before being exposed to the next song. The sequence of songs and sound intensity were randomised for each individual. Results Musical auditory stimulation with baroque music did not influence the geometric indices of HRV. The same was observed with heavy-metal musical auditory stimulation at the three sound-level ranges. Conclusion Musical auditory stimulation at different sound intensities did not influence the geometric indices of HRV in men.
