This report will describe the activities undertaken during my internship at the Personnel Department (DPE-UPE4.1) in Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD), Lisbon, between September 22, 2014, and February 28, 2015. I consider that it is important to note from the outset i) that the subject of my training was suggested by my supervisor in the DPE and accepted by me; and ii) that the internship consisted essentially of carrying out research and information gathering into the different social systems that coexist within the bank and the application of each legal system in solving concrete situations of the CGD employees. The research and analysis of information was important not only for my study but for the CGD itself, as it enables the department to have such an important matter, full of specific characteristics, condensed into a single document, i.e. this report. This is a complex reality. The various welfare systems differ according to the contractual agreement linking the employee to the employer at the date when the labour contract is signed, and also the unique/singular characteristics of the CGD. In the early stage I started by trying to understand the financial institution and its organization and role and the department where I worked. So I analyzed the CGD Statutes and the legal measures that crystallized the scheme for its employees and I also researched its domestic and international operations. The first month was devoted to the research and analysis of such legislation to understand the creation of the CGD and its path to date. In the second and third months I studied the legal social systems that are applied to different groups of CGD workers. This period was quite important to identify and understand the differences between those regimes of CGD employees as well as the procedure inherent in each case. I highlighted the non-implementation of “the social protection regime of convergence” to the workers of this institution; the differences regarding the allocation of sickness subsidies paid to workers who belong to Social Security and CGA contributors, as well as the enforcement of internal rules to all the workers when a work-related accident happens. Then I focused on to assessing and examining external legislation and several internal regulations in order to obtain solutions to questions raised and situations involving by the workers, in order to understand how the DPE solves these situations. Over the last three months of internship, after this more theoretical work, I began the analysis of concrete situations involving employees carrying out their duties in Portugal and abroad. Some of these situations had been received by the department before the beginning of my internship and others over this period. When I was “working” in the DPE I analyzed “cases” that had been solved and some others without a final solution because they were still in courts. As for the last ones (new cases) I was able to follow their assessment and sometimes their outcome. Some of them became study cases for me. Over these five months of my internship, several cases were analyzed and discussed by legal experts of DPE in which I could participate. I always worked hard. I know that this action contributed to elucidate me about the treatment of the issues, and allowed me to have a direct contact with some workers and be part of a dynamic work team. For these reasons, my internship report is not merely descriptive of activities. It consists of an analysis of rules (legislation) and a regulatory framework of activities and it is also a description of several specific situations solved or in a solution process. Through this work I intend to make known the particular reality of a modern Portuguese financial institution not only because of its importance in our country but also such a large number of employees work here (in Portugal and abroad). I should add that throughout my internship I was allowed to attend conferences, within the scope of the bank in order to get a broader view of some issues related to the daily life of the DPE and the CGD. So, I participated in I Jornadas Bancárias and the Conferência Internacional do Contrato a Termo, given that the CGD is a bank and the DPE deals with legal and labour relations.

Reformulação da definição: conceito de "equação" para os alunos do 1º ciclo do ensino secundário em Angola

A presente dissertação intitulada Reformulação da definição: conceito de «equação» para os alunos do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Secundário em Angola tem como objectivo analisar as definições que se encontram nos manuais do aluno de Matemática do ciclo em referência. Para materialização deste desiderato organizamos um corpus constituído por textos dos três manuais que constituem o 1.º Ciclo, designadamente, manual do aluno da 7.ª, 8.ª e 9.ª classe. A análise da definição foi feita com base nas linhas orientadoras para a elaboração de uma definição terminológica. Estas linhas orientadoras correspondem aos procedimentos que adoptámos nesta dissertação, para a análise e para a proposta de reformulação da definição terminológica. O interesse pelo tema surgiu da necessidade de contribuir para a melhoria do processo de ensino-aprendizagem da disciplina de Matemática. Tendo em conta que a definição terminológica visa em primeiro lugar estabilizar o conceito por meio da identificação de características que lhes são peculiares permitindo a diferenciação entre conceitos no seio de outros conceitos. É a partir das definições que os alunos terão acesso aos conceitos, podendo até relacionar os vários conceitos do domínio. Desta feita, tanto o professor como o aluno beneficiarão da existência de uma boa definição. O aluno, por intermédio da definição, chegará ao conceito; o professor, por sua vez, terá melhores ferramentas – as definições – para transmitir conhecimentos.

O Ciclo Vicioso do Satisfatório na Gestão de Terminologia em Contexto Empresarial: problemas e oportunidades

É objetivo geral deste trabalho perceber o modo como as empresas gerem as terminologias e as línguas de especialidade em contextos de comunicação multilingues, especialmente quando mediada por tradução. Com base num suporte teórico da Terminologia aplicada à tradução e, sempre que necessário, dado o teor interdisciplinar do tema, em pressupostos da Gestão e da Tradução especializada, desenvolvemos a pesquisa no âmbito de um quadro metodológico descritivo, sustentado em vários métodos qualitativos e quantitativos de recolha primária e secundária de dados. Temos, por pano de fundo, um cenário aparentemente paradoxal. Por um lado, para os clientes (empresas e consumidores), a língua é vista como um ativo e um recurso funcional e de apoio: serve como meio para atingir um objetivo, não é o objetivo em si. Do outro lado, da indústria da língua, a língua é matéria-prima e o bem final, ou seja, é o objetivo, o seu produto final, pelo que a preocupação com a qualidade linguística é muito maior. A investigação foi desenvolvida em dois ciclos de pesquisa. No primeiro, o trabalho centra-se na língua portuguesa, como língua de chegada, no mercado global da tradução especializada da CPLP, do qual apresentamos um contorno possível. No segundo ciclo, descrevemos a forma como as línguas são geridas nas empresas internacionalizadas, com destaque para a prática de tradução empresarial ad hoc – e discutimos o status quo da gestão terminológica na generalidade das empresas. Mais do que apontar falhas, apesar de termos identificado a terminologia como um dos fatores críticos do processo, tentamos perceber a causa do ciclo do satisfatório mantido nas empresas, que os melhores argumentos e estudos dos agentes da indústria da língua, nomeadamente da terminologia, não têm conseguido mudar. Numa abordagem, sempre que possível, abrangente e integradora à questão, tentamos desmistificar a clivagem entre fornecedores e clientes e a ideia tout court de más-práticas das empresas, vendo-as à luz das políticas linguísticas da Comunidade Europeia, mas também das caraterísticas da sociedade global do conhecimento. Aí identificamos algumas oportunidades, que exigem não só o investimento da cultura empresarial, mas também uma atitude mais pró-ativa dos agentes da Terminologia, de forma a agilizar o processo de mudança baseado na educação para a qualidade. Deste modo, pensamos ser mais fácil criar uma “cultura favorável” à gestão de terminologia, e à qualidade da língua de especialidade em geral, baseada na confiança e na competência, com atitudes e comportamentos cooperantes ao nível de todas as partes interessadas.

Almirante: Evaluating the board game: Board game, startup, discounted cash flow, venture capital method, real options

This thesis evaluates a start-up company (Jogos Almirante Lda) whose single asset is a board game named Almirante. It aims to conclude whether it makes sense to create a company or just earn copyrights. The thesis analyzes the board game’s market, as part of the general toy’s market, from which some data exists: European countries as well as the USA. In this work it is analyzed the several ways to finance a start-up company and then present an overview of the valuation of the Jogos Almirante based on three different methods: Discounted Cash Flow, Venture Capital Method and Real Options.

Managing marginal capital requirements in solvency II: Analysis of a real insurance portfolio

This thesis provides a complete analysis of the Standard Capital Requirements given by Solvency II for a real insurance portfolio. We analyze the investment portfolio of BPI Vida e Pensões, an insurance company affiliated with a Portuguese bank BPI, both at security, sub-portfolio and asset class levels. By using the Standard Formula from EIOPA, Total SCR amounts to 239M€. This value is mostly explained by Market and Default Risk whereas the former is driven by Spread and Concentration Risks. Following the methodology of Leblanc (2011), we examine the Marginal Contribution of an asset to the SCR which allows for the evaluation of the risks of each security given its characteristics and interactions in the portfolio. The top contributors to the SCR are Corporate Bonds and Term Deposits. By exploring further the composition of the portfolio, our results show that slight changes in allocation of Term and Cash Deposits have severe impacts on the total Concentration and Default Risks, respectively. Also, diversification effects are very relevant by representing savings of 122M€. Finally, Solvency II represents an opportunity for the portfolio optimization. By constructing efficient frontiers, we find that as the target expected return increases, a shift from Term Deposits/ Commercial Papers to Eurozone/Peripheral and finally Equities occurs.

Value creation in the nursing home real estate investment market - A case study

The underlying thesis examines the value drivers of direct investments in nursing home real estate in Germany. A survey among investors and operators is conducted in order to identify significant value drivers. Moreover, based on survey results, a framework for assessing German nursing home real estate is developed. This is applied in a case-study about the set-up of a nursing home value-add fund which will demonstrate the value creation process of redeveloping an existing nursing home real estate portfolio. Through a concluding analysis the sources of value creation, sensitivities and future prospects of direct investing into German nursing home real estate are concluded.

La importancia de la competencia sociocultural: propuesta de actividades para su desarrollo en alumnos portugueses del 3.º ciclo de Enseñanza Básica y Enseñanza Secundaria

Este estudio pretende valorar la competencia sociocultural, presentando un abanico de actividades para desarrollarla en clase con nuestros alumnos. Asimismo se mostrará cómo un profesor puede y debe ser un mediador en la transmisión y adquisición de contenidos socioculturales. Para ello, en el primer capítulo se da la definición del término cultura, analizando la importancia de su integración en las clases de lengua y presentando la evolución del estudio de contenidos socioculturales en la didáctica de idiomas. Se analizará igualmente la relevancia dada hoy en día a los contenidos socioculturales en los documentos oficiales, el Marco Común Europeo de Referencia, el Plan Curricular del Instituto Cervantes y el Programa de Español del Ministerio de Educación Portugués. A continuación, definimos el concepto de interculturalidad e incidimos en el papel del profesor en la eliminación de estereotipos, prejuicios y malentendidos, en el descubrimiento de uno mismo y en la tolerancia por los demás, resaltando también la importancia de la intraculturalidad en las clases de lengua materna y terminando el capítulo con algunos aspectos socioculturales españoles, indispensables para la formación de un alumno de español. En un segundo capítulo, se presenta el Instituto de Ciências Educativas – institución privada en la que se realizó la Práctica Supervisionada de Español - , y se procede igualmente a la caracterización de los grupos. Finalmente, se presentan algunas de las actividades más significativas para el tema de estudio y su respectiva reflexión.

Curadoria em artes performativas: o ciclo temático gender trouble - performance, performatividade e política de género no Teatro Municipal Maria Matos

O presente relatório pretende ilustrar os resultados do estágio na área de programação artística desenvolvido no Teatro Municipal Maria Matos, em Lisboa. Apresenta um enquadramento desta organização e uma reflexão crítica e teórica sobre o conceito de curadoria de artes performativas, especificamente, no que diz respeito ás práticas para estruturar um programa temático no teatro municipal enquanto centro de exibição, produção e divulgação das artes performativas. O relatório articula três partes. Na primeira parte, aborda-­‐se uma aproximação institucional e a descrição das tarefas da área de programação no Teatro Maria Matos. Na segunda parte, apresentam-­‐se conceptualmente as questões da programação temática Gender Trouble -­‐ performance, performatividade e política de género, as relações com a arte contemporânea e a história de arte. E, finalmente, na terceira apresentam-­‐se algumas observações sobre a estrutura de programação e produção de Gender Trouble, no âmbito da rede internacional House on Fire, em colaboração com parceiros internacionais, tornando-­‐se esta linha programática um convite para uma reflexão sobre a genealogia do conceito “performatividade de género” que espelha reflexões teóricas e práticas artísticas, académicas e ativistas.

Autoconceito profissional e satisfacao profissional de professores de 2º e 3º ciclo

Desenvolvimento de Competências Musicais no 2.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico: Práticas Pedagógicas

A disciplina de Educação Musical está presente no currículo do ensino básico nacional há quarenta e cinco anos, no entanto a informação sobre as práticas musicais nessas aulas é escassa. A presente tese tem por objecto de estudo as práticas dos professores de Educação Musical no 2.º ciclo do ensino básico e pretende perceber o que efectivamente se ensina nessas aulas. Participaram 411 alunos e 15 professores, ao longo de duas fases do estudo: uma fase exploratória, constituída por entrevistas qualitativas a uma pequena amostra (4 professores e 10 alunos) e uma segunda fase, dividida em duas etapas de recolha e análise de dados – questionário a alunos e professores (construído com base nos resultados do estudo exploratório), seguido de entrevistas focalizadas aos professores (participaram, nesta fase, 401 alunos e 11 professores de 9 escolas do 2º ciclo do ensino básico). Trata-se de um estudo misto (qualitativo e quantitativo). O questionário teve como objectivo averiguar as percepções dos alunos e dos professores relativamente às práticas pedagógicas desenvolvidas na aula de Educação Musical. Seguiram-se as entrevistas focalizadas aos professores, que tiveram o intuito de os confrontar com as suas respostas e com as dos seus alunos e ampliar a compreensão das mesmas. Os resultados mostraram que os professores realizam maioritariamente actividades no âmbito das áreas de interpretação, teoria e audição musical. Por outro lado, concretizam poucas experiências de aprendizagem e, ainda menos, actividades de composição musical. Constata-se que as contingências circundantes influenciam as práticas lectivas na disciplina de Educação Musical. A profissionalidade docente é uma construção indissociável das práticas dos professores. Discutem-se os resultados e suas implicações para intervenções pedagógicas no âmbito da Educação Musical, numa lógica de reflexão/investigação/acção sobre a prática.

Real convergence in per capita output and growth in Eurozone: A time-series approach

The real convergence hypothesis has spurred a myriad of empirical tests and approaches in the economic literature. This Work Project intends to test for real output and growth convergence in all N(N-1)/2 possible pairs of output and output growth gaps of 14 Eurozone countries. This paper follows a time-series approach, as it tests for the presence of unit roots and persistence changes in the above mentioned pairs of output gaps, as well as for the existence of growth convergence with autoregressive models. Overall, significantly greater evidence has been found to support growth convergence rather than output convergence in our sample.

Dois alçados inéditos do Palácio Real de Campo de Ourique

A recente descoberta de dois magníficos desenhos para o alçado do Palácio Real a construir em Campo de Ourique levantam, pela erudição das suas opções arquitectónicas como pela sua superlativa qualidade estética, uma série de questões sobre a cultura arquitectónica e o desenho de arquitectura em Portugal, nos meados do século XVIII. Sendo um conjunto indissociável, um dos desenhos apresenta a data de 1760 com a assinatura, algo inusitada, do Capitão Dionizio de S. Dionizio, figura de pouco relevo na conjuntura dos arquitectos da Casa Real implicados nas grandes obras de renovação da cidade de Lisboa pós terramoto. Perante este personagem pouco conhecido pretendemos neste texto apresentar uma primeira abordagem abrindo, num futuro, um debate alargado sobre o quadro conceptual de influências de que o elevado nível artístico destes desenhos, sem paralelo na época, dá testemunho.
