Amphitheatre and Tower

The original Master Plan of 1964 called for the campus to stretch out 1 1/4 miles across the escarpment with arts buildings west of the tower and science buildings to the east. This plan laid out the development of Brock for the next 10 or 11 years by which time enrollment was expected to be near 8000 students. Pictured here is the tower and behind it, in the lower left portion of the picture, the planned outdoor amphitheatre. This view is from the edge of the escarpment facing southward or southeast.

Analysis Of The A11a22 X 11a11 And A 33a22 X 1 electronic transitions in selenocarbonyl difluoride

The absorption spectrum of F2CSe in the 18800-21900 cm-1 region has been recorded at -770 C and 220 C under the conditions of medium resolution. The responsible electronic promotion is TI* + n excitation which leads to 3A2 and lA2 excited states. Progressions in vI', v2', v3" v4' and v4" have been identified in the spectrum and have been analyzed in terms of vibronic transitions between a planar ground state and a nQnplanar excited state. The - 3 - 1 - 1 - 1 origins of the a A2 + X Al and A A2 + X Al systems were assigned to the bands at 19018 cm-l and 19689 cm-l . This has given a singlet-triplet splittl. n g lA2 - 3A2 P f 671 cm -1 The out-of-plane wagging levels were found to be anharmonic. 1 -1 Barrier heights of 2483 cm- and 2923 cm were obtained for the lA2 and 3A2 upper states from a fitting of the energy levels of a Lorentzian-quadratic function to the observed levels in the out-of-plane wagging modes. 1 3 For the A2 and A2 states nonplanar equilibrium angles of 30.10 and 31.40 have been evaluated respectively. i

Perennial negotiations/elemental encounters autoethnographic perspectives on approaching food sovereignty

This thesis uses a multifaceted process to engage with the topic of food sovereignty in California. It employs diverse methods, including critical and creative prose, photography, autoethnographic mixed media, storytelling and poetry. I am particularly concerned with the " " challenges of approaching food sovereignty, a radical praxis that combines subsistence practices with anti-capitalist resistance, while in my own "skin," which is thoroughly embedded in white, urban, middle classed culture and in corltextualizing ecological relationshipslkinships via cultural, historical and economic trajectories. The project utilizes a processual methodlology drawing substantially from the work of Brian Massumi to explore these issues through four creative narrative pieces which coalesce around the elemental metaphors of air, fire, water and earth. Following Deleuze and Guatarri's concept ofrhizomatic plateaus, the thesis narratives are comprised of many non-hierarchical layers and can be read from many angles. Each is offered "in process" rather than as a finished piece, thus practically validating the concept of the ongoing work of research and suggesting the equally omnipresent possibility of change and mutation in the formation relationally based knowledges. Cultivating ecological ethic and healing on multisensory levels, as well as commitment to emergent and re-productivist worldviews are goals of this project's research.

Guggenheim Art Gallery, Moulton Hall, Chapman College, Orange, California

Guggenheim Gallery in Moulton Hall, Chapman College, Orange, California. Completed in 1975 (2 floors, 44,592 sq.ft.), Moulton Hall is named in memory of an artist and patroness of the arts, Nellie Gail Moulton. Within this structure are the departments of Art, Communications, and Theatre/Dance as well as the Guggenheim Gallery and Waltmar Theatre. Waltmar Theatre was a gift from the late Walter and Margaret Schmid. The Guggenheim Gallery is used for the art exhibits presented by the art department and other departments on campus. It gives students and local artists an opportunity to display their work. Student art shows are held each semester to showcase art, photography, and graphic design works.

The photograph is not dated, however, the address of the photographer is printed at the bottom of the cabinet card. This photograph was in the possession of Iris Sloman Bell, of St. Catharines, Ontario. They were initially employed for landscapes rather than portraitures. Cabinet cards replaced Carte de visite photographs as the popular mode of photography. Cabinet cards became the standard for photographic portraits in 1870. Cabinet cards experienced their peak in popularity in the 1880's. Cabinet cards were still being produced in the United States until the early 1900's and continued to be produced in Europe even longer. The best way to describe a cabinet card is that it is a thin photograph that is mounted on a card that measures 4 1/4″ by 6 1/2″. Cabinet cards frequently have artistic logos and information on the bottom or the reverse of the card which advertised the photographer or the photography studio's services."
