Fiction offers creative and imaginative scenarios and solutions that may stimulate young people to consider their own relationship with the environment. Literature for young people also offers insights into ecocatastrophe, anthropocentrism, sustainability, and other important issues. A further significance of this project is that it aligns with the cross-curriculum priority of the Australian Curriculum, namely ‘sustainability’. The 'Children's Literature and the Environment' project in AustLit includes a variety of bibliographic records (fiction, information books, film, poetry, and multimedia) relevant to children and young adults that deal with the environment in imaginative, scientific, educational, and creative ways, which culminates in an online exhibition. There are a number of components clustered around key concepts and issues, such as sustainability, urban environments, and Indigenous perspectives. This exhibition allows researchers and students to access and engage with bibliographical data on a range of literary and critical texts that provide various environmental perspectives over a significant period of time.

Light-n:doubt is an exhibition exploring the changing landscape between light and sculpture at 65 Hindley Street, Adelaide in 2003. The exhibition references research through the notion of 'otherness'. This show of work foregrounds the play between the materiality and idea of the object and what it 'speaks', the symbolic resonance of the object within space, and the role of the viewer in constructing language through form. Light-n:doubt at 64 Hindley Street, Adelaide. 20th-28th November, 2003. 11am-7pm.

This thesis articulates and examines public engagement programming in an emerging, non¬-traditional site. As a practice-led research project, the creative work proposes a site responsive, engagement centric, agile model for curatorial programming that developed out of the dynamic, new media/digital, curatorial practice at QUT's Creative Industries Precinct. The model and its accompanying exegetical framework, Curating in Uncharted Territories, offer a theoretically informed approach to programming, delivering and reporting for curatorial practices in a non¬-traditional sites of public engagement. The research provides the foundation for full development of the model and the basis for further research.

This project developed a visual strategy and graphic outcomes to communicate the results of a scientific collaborative project to the Mackay community. During 2013 and 2014 a team from CSIRO engaged with the community in Mackay to collaboratively develop a set of strategies to improve the management of the Great Barrier Reef. The result of this work was a 300+ page scientific report that needed to be translated and summarised to the general community. The aim of this project was to strategically synthesise information contained in the report and to design and produce an outcome to be distributed to the participant community. By working with the CISRO researchers, an action toolkit was developed, with twelve cards and a booklet. Each card represented the story behind a certain local management issue and the actions that the participants suggested should be taken in order to improve management of The Reef. During the design synthesis it was identified that for all management issues there was a reference to the need to develop some sort of "educational campaign" to the area. That was then translated as an underlying action to support all other actions proposed in the toolkit.

The images from The Ripple Effect appear like they are advertising images but have a deeper social message. They are deliberately confronting, humorous, and thought provoking to create debate on true-life experiences of hospital treatments, recovery and support available in our community. The works in this exhibition carry the hopes and aspirations of a community that is bonded together by its collective experiences, and shares a vision of the resources needed for a productive and healthy recovery.

This program is a research based, guided intervention program, designed for first time drink driving offenders which provides them with information and strategies to avoid drink driving in the future. It is an innovative program with the ability to tailor specific information to different individuals based on their level of risk of reoffending and help them develop their own plan to prevent them from drink driving. It aims to teach offenders the skills to implement their own plan when they determine they are at risk of future drink driving. The program provides information about: What a standard drink is and how blood alcohol content (BAC) is determined; How alcohol affects the body, reaction time, and decision making; The consequences of drink driving and what happens after a second offence; How to deal with risky drink driving situations in the future; How to build a personalised plan to avoid drink driving in the future, and; Levels of alcohol consumption and its impact on daily life. It also includes access to a mobile friendly web app that can be used anytime after completing the program. This is tool that will aid offenders in tracking their drinks and build on plans to prevent future drink driving.

This work was a performance piece that took place at West Space as part of the 'Conceted Efforts' exhibition. For three hours, Antoinette J. Citizen and Courtney Coombs listed activities that require two people. The resulting list then remained in the gallery as an installed object. The work explores the role of collaboration in art practice as well as society more broadly.

This work was a interactive object piece that was installed at West Space as part of the 'Conceted Efforts' exhibition. Three clipboards hosted a petition addressed to Australian Museum Directors urging them to accept this artist card in lieu of payment when artists visit their institution, a list of potential elements of proof of position as an Australian artist, and an example of the artist card. The work explored the potential for collaboration between artists and institutions and explored the value of artists in the contemporary art world.

This project originated from both investigation of the musicalisation of theatre and impact of gender upon contemporary physical comedy. Developed as a ‘music first’ proposition, the initial experiment was to blend music and theatre so they were indistinguishable. Musicalising theatre, and theatricalising music. This established a covert intermediality with the potential to work in theatre or music venues. An iterative cycle of writing, performance, and videography over two years in venues ranging from small cafes to Woodford Folk Festival resulted in a full-length performance premiering at Brisbane Powerhouse’s Queensland Cabaret Festival 2015. The soundtrack to the show was recorded as a full-length album at QUT’s Gasworks Studio and released in 2014. It’s become clear that male/female musical comedy acts are an extremely rare pairing. Certain preconceptions about gender and comedy complicate the field; indeed the comic tropes of the double act which the Warmwaters flow around and through. Brian Logan (2011) even poses that “the male-female dynamic militate[s] against comedy”. This performance-led research draws on Comedy Studies to examine three classic formulations of the comic duo as they are manifested at critical incidents in the Warmwaters’ show. These moments are examined in terms of comic functionality and gender, evaluating and potentially reformulating them, whilst working towards a better understanding of the relative scarcity of the male/female musical comedy duo. Prototypes have been performed in various venues, utilising performance as research: cycles in which discoveries made during unpredictable gigs in music venues are captured on video, transcribed, rewritten, then fed back into live performance.

Exhibition Statement: Uncanny Intimacy charts an artists’ journeys towards ecological understanding. Use the mysterious inorganic ‘telescope’ to peer deep within a contemporary 'cabinet of {research} curiosities’, witnessing diverse moments of insight and inspiration, animated by the darkly compelling worlds of Australia’s iconic flying foxes. Uncanny Intimacy calls us to imagine a radical rethinking of ecological ethics. By understanding existence as innately coexistence, we are asked to contemplate how ecologies might be better understood, better conserved and made flourish.
