Athletics in most of its history, turned to competition, giving it little pedagogical knowledge, prevailing knowledge grounded in records, indexes and competitions. Thus, although it is considered a classic content of Physical Education, this modality is still not widespread in schools. The present study aimed to investigate possible progress in the teaching and learning of athletics in the State Schools of Bauru from the implementation of the Curriculum of the State of São Paulo for Teaching Physical Education. We attempted to checking the perspective of teachers and students, the changes in teaching and learning as well as difficulties encountered from the deployment. To that end, we conducted survey of the theoretical and practical alternatives developed by Physical Education teachers, about athletics theme, since the implementation of the Curriculum of the State of São Paulo for the Teaching of Physical Education in 2008, in seven (7) state schools in Bauru-Sao Paulo, randomly chosen, prioritizing different regions of the county. There was the purpose of investigating, through questionnaires, interviews (applied to teachers and students), what progress has been achieved with regard to the approach of collegiate athletics in the teaching/learning process, if there are difficulties, what are these and how they could be addressed in order to improve teaching and learning in school athletics. The collected data were analyzed comparatively, before and after implementation of the Curriculum of the State of São Paulo for Physical Education, gathering and specifying negative and/or positive aspects raised by teachers and students. It was concluded that the students' knowledge of the sport has increased, but the practice of sport is still far from being normal to them, doing so is necessary to include content from the earliest school years. This article analyses A Eschola Publica, an educational journal that circulated in São Paulo state between 1893-1894 and 1896-1897, whose editors, allied with the diffusion of republican ideas, helped the consolidation of objective method as a pedagogical efficient modern tool. It was possible gathering some sources that shows the acceptance of that method and the difficulties for its dissemination in the classroom, mainly those refers to teacher’s formation. Taking as referential bibliographical resources about schooling culture it was possible verifying that circulating in complementary parallel way to textbooks, the articles by A Eschola Publica endorse the innovative purposes and show barriers imposing on educational context. This journal produced a place for discussions and debates that contributed for controlling and producing symbolic resources

Por uma teoria da expectativa

The aim of this paper is to show a cognitive semantic investigation on the idea of expectation, defined as a mental construct which organizes the thinking and works as specific motivation in the process of communication. Expectation is an idea that may be created in the speaker's or in the listener's mind. It may be verbalized or not. Its semantic information may not be realized in real life, bringing frustration to communication. This study of expectation suggested that it is useful to have a theory to explain what other approaches left over. The working methodology focused in the gathering of data related to the phenomenon and the procedures to explain them inside a cognitive approach. The utterances are directly dependent of how the mind words. Therefore, studying speech we can have an access to people's mind. The idea of expectation may be interpreted under different traditional semantic labels. However, there are some peculiarities that can be explained only by a cognitive approach to language. We find words and phrases in the languages which reveal the presence of an expectation, such as "I think that...", "there has been an expectation about..." All answers are expected to fulfill an expectation. This investigation brought evidence that the mental expectation is essential to the act of communication. Therefore, the study of expectation in languages and in people's mind is important for the researches on cognitive semantics.

Recepção de Odorico Mendes: (a)casos de crítica de tradução no séc. XIX

This paper aims at gathering evidences about the reception of Odorico Mendes Greek andRoman translations among his contemporaries. Some of the most celebrated lusophone writersof the 19th Century such as Joaquim Manoel de Macedo, Gonçalves Dias and AntónioFeliciano de Castilho left us their reviews on the work of Mendes, the most productiveand controversial Brazilian translator of the time. The analysis of those data provides valuabledocuments of translation criticism that could constitute evidence of translation practices andmethods in an historical period in which Ancient Literature poetic translations were mostlyproduced.
