Internet rural

El món rural és el més afectat pel que fa al retràs tecnològic del país. Una de les parts més afectades, són les comunicacions, i més en concretament, l'accés a Internet, un accés a Internet cada cop més necessari. En el projecte s'intenta donar accés a Internet a la població de San Esteban de Litera per mitjà de la tecnologia Wifi. En primer lloc és realitza un estudi de les tecnologies que es disposa per dur a terme el projecte, s'analitza la legislació vigent, i, és fa un estudi del terreny i la població. Un cop clar l'aspecte legal, tecnològic i la ubicació, és passa a realitzar la implantació. I per acabar es presenta el pressupost de l'elaboració del projecte, i és comenta l'actualitat de l'accés a Internet.

A utilização de fitoterapia no cotidiano de uma população rural

Esta pesquisa tem como objetivos estudar o uso da fitoterapia, em uma população da zona rural no interior de MG; identificar as plantas utilizadas com maior freqüência e formas de uso e comparar os seus efeitos com aqueles descritos na literatura. Foram entrevistadas 33 pessoas em 1997. Em relação às plantas fitoterápicas conhecidas pelos entrevistados foram citadas 106, sendo 60 efetivamente utilizadas. A transmissão do conhecimento referente ao seu uso ocorreu basicamente dos avós para os filhos e netos. A fitoterapia foi utilizada com fins semelhantes aos descritos na literatura, visando à prevenção e tratamento das doenças.

The selective migration of young graduates : which of them return to their rural home region and which do not?

This paper addresses the migration behaviours of young university graduates from a rural region in Switzerland. Based on a questionnaire survey, it compares graduates' current place of residence (i.e. whether or not they returned to their home region) with characteristics related to their socio-familial, migration and professional trajectories. The propensity to return varies not only according to labour market variables (employment opportunities), but also to other factors, some of which have even more influence than job opportunities. The graduates' life course position (kind of household), their partners' characteristics (level of education and home region) and their family background (socio-economic status and history of migration) all play a central role. On the whole, results show that migration appears as a selective and complex process embedded in the life course of graduates.

Coordination of Transit and School Busing in Iowa, Final Report, December 2003

The 2003 Iowa General Assembly asked the Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) to conduct a study of Iowa public policy regarding coordination of public transit services and school transportation. This report describes the efficiencies that may be obtained by coordinating transit management and maintenance systems in the areas of school transportation, public transit, and other forms of public transportation. The Center for Transportation Research and Education (CTRE) at Iowa State University studied these issues and prepared this report for the Iowa DOT.
