Ao longo dos últimos anos, com às crescentes mudanças no mundo empresarial, tanto no meio académico, quanto no meio profissional, as relações entre a cultura organizacional e a liderança têm atraído considerável atenção e alguns estudos da área têm apontado a interdependência entre ambos (Schein, 1992; Bass & Avolio, 1993). O presente trabalho de investigação científica, tem por objectivo, avaliar a existência dessa mesma relação através de um estudo de caso, aplicado aos trabalhadores e três gestores, a uma empresa pública de segurança social, cabo-verdiana â Instituto Nacional de Previdência Social â INPS, nos anos 2000 a 2010. A metodologia, consistiu primeiramente numa pesquisa bibliográfica, exploratória e descritiva e ainda foi feito um estudo de caso à empresa. Para a recolha dos dados, foram aplicados questionários com perguntas fechadas aos trabalhadores e gestores com o consentimento do Conselho de Administração. Para a análise dos dados foram utilizadas técnicas quantitativas e qualitativas, feito através das respostas obtidas dos questionários. Com os resultados da pesquisa, conclui-se que a pergunta de partida foi respondida através dos 94% da população inquirida que confirmaram a existência da relação entre a cultura organizacional e liderança e a sua influência dentro da organização. The existent relationship between the organizational culture and the leadership in social safety sector. Along of the last years, with the growing changes in the business world as in the academic middle as in the professional middle, the relation between organizational culture and the leadership have attracted considerable attention and some studies of the area have been pointed the interdependence between both (Schein,1992;Bass Avolio,1993). The present scientific investigation work has the purpose to evaluate the existence of that same relationship through a study of case, applied to the workers and three managers, to a public company of social safety, capverdean-National Institute of Social Precaution-INPS, in years 2000 and 2003. The methodology constitutes firstly in a small one bibliographical, exploratory and descriptive and it was still made a study of case to the company. For it collects of data were applied questionnaires with closed questions to the workers and the three managers with the consent of the Council of Administration. For the analysis of the data quantitative and qualitative techniques were used, done through the obtained answers of the questionnaires. With the results of the research, it is ended that the question of departure was answered through the 94% of the population inquired that confirm the relationship existence between the organizational culture and the leadership and its influence inside of the organization.

As decisões de preços de venda, é uma das funções com mais relevância no ambiente empresarial para os gerentes, devido o seu carácter estratégico para o sucesso das empresas. O processo de formação de preço (FP) é fundamental para as empresas, embora apresenta graus de dificuldade e de complexidade, por implicar diversos factores. A primeira etapa para a FP consiste na estimativa correcta de custos, para obtenção de preços ideais. Para além dos custos, outros factores internos e externos devem ser analisados para que as decisões possam ser tomadas de forma correcta e obter um preço competitivo. Portanto, os gerentes precisam de informações precisas para poderem tomar decisões com segurança, levando em consideração todos os aspectos relevantes para a FP. O presente trabalho tem como objectivo principal, conhecer uma politica adequada de FP, bem como, descobrir quais os factores mais relevantes considerados na formação desses preços nas empresas e ainda conhecer quais os métodos de FP utilizado pelas empresas de importação de S.Vicente para a FP. A metodologia, consistiu primeiramente numa pesquisa bibliográfica e exploratória. Para a recolha dos dados,foram aplicados questionários com perguntas fechadas múltipla escolha, aos gerentes e aos responsáveis pelos processos de EC e FP e para complementar, foi feita uma entrevista a um especialista da área. Para a análise dos dados, foram utilizadas técnicas qualitativas e quantitativas, feito através das respostas obtidas dos questionários. Os resultados obtidos da pesquisa, mostram que o método de formação de preços de venda adoptado pelas empresas de S.Vicente, é o método baseado no custo e no mercado (método misto), ou seja, o preço é definido com base nos seus custos, mas é ajustado tendo por base o preço da concorrência. The sale prices decisions; it is one of the functions with more relevance in the managerial atmosphere for the managers, due your strategic character for the success of the companies. The process of price formation (FP) it is fundamental for the companies,although it presents degrees of difficulty and of complexity, for implicating several factors. The first stage for FP consists in estimate correct costs, to obtaining ideal prices. Besides the costs, others internal and external factors should be analyzed so that decisions can be made in a correct form to obtain a competitive price. Therefore, the managers need necessary information to make safety decisions, taking in consideration all the important aspects of FP. The main objective of this present work, is to know the appropriate politics of FP, as well as, to discover which the most important factors considered in the formation of those prices to purchases and still to know which of the FP methods used by the import companies in São Vicente. The methodology consisted firstly in a bibliographical and exploratory research. To collect the data, were applied uestionnaires with closed questions, multiple choice to the managers and the responsible for the processes of ECP and EP and to complement, it was made an interview to a specialist. For the analysis of the data, qualitative techniques were used, done through to obtained answers of the questionnaires. The results of the research, show that the method of formation of sale prices adopted for São Vicente's companies, is the method based on the cost and in the market (mixed method), in other words, the price is defined with base in the costs, but it is adjusted tends for base of the competition.

OBJECTIVEAnalyzing the quality of sleep of hypertensive patients registered in the national registration system and monitoring of hypertensive patients.METHODSA cross-sectional study of quantitative and descriptive analyses with 280 hypertensive patients registered in the National Program of Hypertension and Diabetes of the Federal Government in the months from August to October 2011. Questionnaires were used which allowed for tracking sociodemographic data on hypertension and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI).RESULTSThe prevalence of poor sleep quality among respondents (156 hypertensive patients) and high rates of using medication for sleeping (106 hypertensive patients) was observed. Other relevant data refers to the quality of sleep among hypertensive patients using sleep medication compared to those who do not use it (p≤0.01).CONCLUSIONIndividuals with high blood pressure have a negative association with sleep quality.

Background: Burnout syndrome (BS) is increasing among health professionals, including family doctors (FD). Aim: To characterize the prevalence of BS in a sample of FDs working in the Portuguese National Health System. Design: Cross-sectional survey. Setting: Primary Health Care Centers (HCC) from the 18 continental districts and 2 archipelagos of Portugal. Method: The Portuguese version of the Maslach Burnout Inventory - Human Services Survey (MBI - HSS) was sent to 40 randomly selected health-care centers (HCC) and distributed to the FDs employed. Sociodemographic and work-related data was also collected. Participants were classified as having high, average or low levels of emotional exhaustion (EE), depersonalization (DP) and personal accomplishment (PA) dimensions of burnout. Results: 371 questionnaires were sent, of which 153 (83 women, age range 29-64 years; response rate 41%) returned. One quarter (25.5%) of participants had high EE, 10.1% high DP and 11.4% high PA, but only 2.0% of participants scored high for all three dimensions. Women had significantly higher DP and PA scores than men; increased daily workload also led to increased PA scores. Conversely, no association was found between BS scores and age, marital status, number of years of practice or type of HCC (Family or Personalized). Conclusion: High burnout is relatively common among Portuguese family doctors, yet slightly lower than reported for other European countries. Burnout relief measures should be developed in order to prevent a further increase of BS among Portuguese FDs.

Abstract OBJECTIVE To describe the stages of construction and validation of an instrument in order to analyze the adherence to best care practices during labour and birth. METHOD Methodological research, carried out in three steps: construction of dimensions and items, face and content validity and semantic analysis of the items. RESULTS The face and content validity was carried out by 10 judges working in healthcare, teaching and research. Items with Content Validity Index (CVI) ≥ 0.9 were kept in full or undergone revisions as suggested by the judges. Semantic analysis, performed twice, indicated that there was no difficulty in understanding the items. CONCLUSION The instrument with three dimensions (organization of healthcare network to pregnancy and childbirth, evidence-based practices and work processes) followed the steps recommended in the literature, concluded with 50 items and total CVI of 0.98.

Pour mieux diffuser la langue française au monde, une date a été choisie, 20 mars. Des manifestations, dans le monde entier, célèbrent le rayonnement de la langue française. Câest un événement riche en activités divers qui mobilise chaque année de nombreux institutions, missions diplomatiques et culturelles, associations et individus. Nous avons remarqué que la journée de la francophonie, câest une date qui est célébrée aussi par les CapVerdiens, spécialement par les lycéens. Dans les différents lycées CapVerdiens, notamment Santiago et São Vicente, nous constatons que cette date câest lâoccasion pour les apprenants dâexprimer leur goût prononcé pour la scène. Que ce soit en sketchs ou en chansons, en déclamations poétiques ou en histoires drôles, les apprenants démontrent une fois, leur plaisir à jouer, chanter, et rire en langue française. Câest dans cette optique, que sâintègre ce mémoire dont lâobjet est de vérifier ou non si ces activités ont un impact positif dans lâapprentissage de la langue française. Nous avons donc, proposé de traiter le thème : Les activités de la francophonie réalisées dans certaines écoles secondaires de Santiago et São Vicenteâ CapVert : leurs impactes sur l'apprentissage du français. Nous aborderons dans un premier temps, de façon théorique, lâhistoire de la francophonie en nous référant à de nombreuses sources dâinformations et ouvrages différents traitant du sujet. La francophonie est complexe, elle a des notions de communauté de pays, de peuple, de langue parlées, et de valeurs, câest dans ce cadre que nous nous intéresserons dans la même partie à comprendre se qu'est la francophonie, ces différentes définitions et sens à elle accordé. Nous développerons, ensuite, le parcours de la langue française au CapVert, où nous analyserons sa présence et son introduction dans l'enseignement secondaire. De même, nous analyserons l'histoire de la francophonie dans cet archipel, où nous présenterons les raisons de l'adhésion du CapVert à l'Organisation International de la Francophonie, et les intérêts du CapVert comme membre de cette organisation. Nous observerons lâinfluence que le théâtre, le chant, la comédie musical, le sketch entre autres activités, ont sur le déroulement des cours que sur les activités extra scolaire. Câest dans cette optique que dans la troisième partie, nous ferons une étude de cas des activités de la francophonie réalisées par les apprenants dans les écoles secondaires de Santiago et São Vicente. Nous tenterons dâétablir ainsi lâinfluence des différentes activités et lâadhésion des élèves et professeurs. Cette étude sâappuiera sur des questionnaires remis aux enseignants et apprenants. Finalement, nous proposerons des perspectives et des suggestions pour lâexploitation de ces activités en classe de langue. Dans cette partie, nous proposerons des stratégies qui permettront aux enseignants de développer une véritable dynamique dans leurs actions en consacrant davantage de leur temps aux animations en français dans les lycées.

37 insulin-dependent and non-insulin-dependent diabetics answered a multiple-choice questionnaire during inpatient educational sessions. 12 dietetic and 12 pathophysiologic questions had to be answered. Statistical analysis of factors influencing the number of errors can be summed up as follows: there is a direct correlation between age of the patient and number of errors; the older the patient, the greater the number of errors. However, insulin-dependent diabetics committed fewer errors than non-insulin-dependent subjects of the same age, which suggests greater motivation in the first group due to their treatment. The test likewise affords the patients an opportunity of reviewing unclear topics and enables the educational team to adapt their teaching to the patients.

Food allergy in children significantly affects their quality of life. Its impact can be analyzed by quality of life questionnaires. The aim of our study was to validate the French version of disease-specific questionnaires and to evaluate the quality of life in children with IgE-mediated food allergy. Two validated food allergy-specific questionnaires for quality of life, the parent's and children's forms (FAQLQ-PF and FAQLQ-CF), were translated from English to French and submitted to children with food allergy and their parents. Questionnaires were analyzed in terms of emotional impact, food anxiety, and social and food limitations. NCT 01480427. Sixty-two parents of children aged 0-12âƒyrs answered the FAQLQ-PF, and 32 children aged 8-12âƒyrs the FAQLQ-CF. Construct validity of both questionnaires was assessed by correlation between the FAQLQs and FAIM (râƒ=âƒ0.85 and 0.84, respectively). Both FAQLQs had good internal consistency (Cronbach's αâƒ=âƒ0.748 and 0.67, respectively). Young children (0-3âƒyrs old) showed better quality of life scores than older children (FAQLQ-PF global score: pâƒ=âƒ0.02). Worse scores were also shown among children with previous severe systemic reactions (FAQLQ-PF global score: pâƒ=âƒ0.039), the ones with an allergic mother (FAQLQ-PF global score: pâƒ=âƒ0.002), or allergic siblings (FAQLQ-PF emotional impact score: pâƒ=âƒ0.034), the ones with multiple food allergy (more than 1 food) (FAQLQ-PF anxiety score: pâƒ=âƒ0.04) and among the girls (FAQLQ-CF global score: pâƒ=âƒ0.031). Older children, the ones with severe systemic reactions, or with mothers or siblings also affected by allergies, as well as girls, and children with multiple food allergies show worse quality of life scores.

The general objective of the study was to empirically test a reciprocal model of job satisfaction and life satisfaction while controlling for some social demographic variables. 827 employees working in 34 car dealerships in Northern Quebec (56% responses rate) were surveyed. The multiple item questionnaires were analysed using correlation analysis, chi square and ANOVAs. Results show interesting patterns emerging for the relationships between job and life satisfaction of which 49.2% of all individuals have spillover, 43.5% compensation, and 7.3% segmentation type of relationships. Results, nonetheless, are far richer and the model becomes much more refined when social demographic indicators are taken into account. Globally, social demographic variables demonstrate some effects on each satisfaction individually but also on the interrelation (nature of the relations) between life and work satisfaction.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the association between patients' body mass index (BMI) and their experiences with inpatient care. DESIGN: Cross-sectional. Mail survey. SETTING: University Hospital of Geneva. PARTICIPANTS: Questionnaires were mailed to 2385 eligible adult patients, 6 weeks after discharge (response rate = 69%). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Patients' experiences with care were measured using the Picker inpatient survey questionnaire. BMI was calculated using self-reported height and weight. Main dependent variables were the global Picker patient experience (PPE-15) score and nine dimension-specific problem scores, scored from 0 (no reported problems) to 1 (all items coded as problems). We used linear regressions, adjusting for age, gender, education, subjective health, smoking and hospitalization, to assess the association between patients' BMI and their experiences with inpatient care. RESULTS: Of the patients, 4.8% were underweight, 50.8% had normal weight, 30.3% were overweight and 14.1% were obese. Adjusted analysis shows that compared with normal weight, obesity was significantly associated with fewer problematic items in the surgery-related information domain, and being underweight or overweight was associated with more problematic items in the involvement of family/friends domain. The global PPE-15 score was significantly higher (more problems) for underweight patients. CONCLUSIONS: Underweight patients, but not obese patients, reported more problems during hospitalization.

BACKGROUND CONTEXT: Studies involving factor analysis (FA) of the items in the North American Spine Society (NASS) outcome assessment instrument have revealed inconsistent factor structures for the individual items. PURPOSE: This study examined whether the factor structure of the NASS varied in relation to the severity of the back/neck problem and differed from that originally recommended by the developers of the questionnaire, by analyzing data before and after surgery in a large series of patients undergoing lumbar or cervical disc arthroplasty. STUDY DESIGN/SETTING: Prospective multicenter observational case series. PATIENT SAMPLE: Three hundred ninety-one patients with low back pain and 553 patients with neck pain completed questionnaires preoperatively and again at 3 to 6 and 12 months follow-ups (FUs), in connection with the SWISSspine disc arthroplasty registry. OUTCOME MEASURES: North American Spine Society outcome assessment instrument. METHODS: First, an exploratory FA without a priori assumptions and subsequently a confirmatory FA were performed on the 17 items of the NASS-lumbar and 19 items of the NASS-cervical collected at each assessment time point. The item-loading invariance was tested in the German version of the questionnaire for baseline and FU. RESULTS: Both NASS-lumbar and NASS-cervical factor structures differed between baseline and postoperative data sets. The confirmatory analysis and item-loading invariance showed better fit for a three-factor (3F) structure for NASS-lumbar, containing items on "disability," "back pain," and "radiating pain, numbness, and weakness (leg/foot)" and for a 5F structure for NASS-cervical including disability, "neck pain," "radiating pain and numbness (arm/hand)," "weakness (arm/hand)," and "motor deficit (legs)." CONCLUSIONS: The best-fitting factor structure at both baseline and FU was selected for both the lumbar- and cervical-NASS questionnaires. It differed from that proposed by the originators of the NASS instruments. Although the NASS questionnaire represents a valid outcome measure for degenerative spine diseases, it is able to distinguish among all major symptom domains (factors) in patients undergoing lumbar and cervical disc arthroplasty; overall, the item structure could be improved. Any potential revision of the NASS should consider its factorial structure; factorial invariance over time should be aimed for, to allow for more precise interpretations of treatment success.

Peu reconnus par la critique postcoloniale, souvent assimilés sans nuances aux enjeux géopolitiques du Grand Jeu en Asie centrale à la même période, les récits des explorateurs français du Tibet manifestent pourtant des traits culturels spécifiques dont on se propose ici de mener l'archéologie. Missionnaires, aventuriers, nobles bannis, scientifiques républicains, diplomates, officiers coloniaux, intellectuels et orientalistes éclairés indiquent tous que la culture de l'exploration dont, de 1846 à 1912, ils sont les représentants se conçoit intrinsèquement comme une culture paysagère. Aussi révèlent-ils une évolution originale des savoirs sur le Tibet et des représentations du paysage tibétain qui se découvre progressivement à eux. La description du paysage participe ainsi globalement d'une histoire des sensibilités et d'une histoire des sciences, ce que l'on peut appeler une géosensibilité. Mais la description scientifique du paysage, liée à la pratique du voyage et à une confrontation à l'ailleurs, ne doit pas masquer le primat expérientiel qui lui donne sens. C'est ainsi que le paysage, en tant qu'expérience vécue, en vient à jouer le rôle d'une médiation interculturelle invitant à un renouvellement des questionnaires des explorateurs. Par ailleurs, la description scientifique participe tout autant de différents orientalismes, de différentes perceptions d'un Tibet associé par les voyageurs à un « paysage sacré ». La diversité dont ceux-ci témoignent, mais aussi les croisements de représentations issues d'autres cultures de l'exploration du Tibet - la tradition anglo-saxonne en premier lieu -, nous plongent aux origines de l'« image du Tibet » qui, au loin de la rencontre vivante des explorateurs - la Première Guerre, la Convention de Simla et l'avènement du Guomindang marquent le terme de la culture française de l'exploration du Tibet -, se cristallisera et s'unifiera dans l'imaginaire occidental du XXe siècle.

O presente trabalho tem por objectivo definir o perfil do turista que visitou a ilha de São Vicente e avaliar o grau de satisfação do turista enquanto consumidor de diferentes bens e serviços, nos meses de Maio e Junho do decorrente ano. Para se fazer uma abordagem qualitativa falou-se da problemática do mercado turístico - procura e oferta turística â e a importância da segmentação desse sistema turístico juntamente com algumas teorias do comportamento do consumidor. Por sua vez, para o estudo do perfil e satisfação dos turistas utilizou-se uma abordagem quantitativa, através da aplicação de questionários no Aeroporto Internacional Cesária Ãvora e entrevistas aos estabelecimentos hoteleiros, 150 e 7 respectivamente. Após a análise explicativa, com base na bibliografia seleccionada, nas entrevistas e questionários realizados, os resultados da pesquisa indicam que estudar o perfil e a satisfação dos turistas permite fazer um levantamento de diversas variáveis importantes como, por exemplo, a nacionalidade do turista, a principal razão e objectivo da viagem e o que gostaram, ou desejavam ver no destino. E assim, entender-se o perfil do visitante e propor-se estratégias, que contribuam para um planeamento sustentável do desenvolvimento turístico na região pretendida. A complexidade do processo de decisão do turista por um ou outro destino é que verdadeiramente motiva esta pesquisa. The objective of the following work is to define the profile of a tourist that visited São Vicente, and evaluate the levels of satisfaction of the tourist as a consumer of different items and services, on May and June of the current year. For a quality methodological approach, the problematic of the touristic industry (demand and touristic offer) â the essential of subdivision of these touristic systems alongside with the principles of the consumer behavior were discussed. In continuity, to define the profile and satisfaction of the tourists, a quantity approach was also used, through the application of questionnaires at the International Airport Cesária Ãvora and interviews throughout hotel establishments, 150 and 7 respectively. After an explanatory analyses, based on a selected bibliography, the applied interviews and questionnaires, the outcome of this research shows that by studying the profile and the satisfaction of the tourists allows to have variable important results, for example, the tourist´s nationality, the main reason and objective of the trip and what they enjoyed or would like to see on their destination. Thus, understanding the visitor´s profile and suggesting strategies, that contributes for a sustainable planning of a touristic development on the intended region. The process complexity of the decision making of the tourist for one destination is truly the main motivation for this research.

The health status of previously premature neonates after closure of a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) was analyzed in childhood and adolescence. Physician questionnaires were used to study 180 hospital survivors among 210 consecutive premature neonates who underwent PDA closure between 1985 and 2005. Complete follow-up data were obtained for 129 patients (72%). During a median follow-up period of 7 years (range, 2-22 years), three late deaths (2.3%) had occurred. Only 45% of the patients were considered healthy. Morbidity included developmental delay (41.1%), pulmonary illness (12.4%), neurologic impairment (14.7%), hearing impairment (3.9%), gastrointestinal disease (3.1%), and thoracic deformity (1.2%). None of the adverse variables during the neonatal period (intraventricular hemorrhage, bradycardia apnea syndrome, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, pulmonary bleeding, hyaline membrane disease, artificial respiration time [continuous positive airway pressure + intubation], or necrotizing enterocolitis) statistically predicted respective system morbidity at the follow-up evaluation. Hyaline membrane disease (odds ratio, 2.5; p = 0.026) and longer hospitalization time (odds ratio, 1.2 days per 10 hospitalization days; p = 0.032) in the newborn period were significant predictors of an unhealthy outcome at the last follow-up evaluation. Survival until childhood after closure of a hemodynamically significant PDA in premature neonates is satisfactory. However, physical and neurodevelopmental co-morbidity persist for half of the patients, perhaps as a sequela of prematurity unrelated to ductus closure.

Objective: Single port laparoscopy andNOTES aim at decreasing the number¦of trocars, at a price of increased technical difficulty and cost, without until now¦any proof of benefit for the patient.Morbidity related to 5 mm trocar sites (TS)¦is claimed to be low, but there are no good quality data on this topic. The aim¦of the present prospective study is to measure the morbidity and overall specific¦impact related to the 5 mm TS and compare them to larger TS.¦Methods:Wecollected prospectively data on 300 consecutive patients operated¦by laparoscopy in our institution between 2009 and 2010. Pain, morbidity,¦cosmetic, and overall patient discomfort were assessed specifically for each¦TS, using standardized questionnaires, at 3 time points: at discharge from¦the hospital, at 1 month and at 6 months after surgery. Results were compared¦between 5 mmand larger TS (10 mm, 12 mmand 15 mm).Trocar sites replaced¦by a minilaparotomy or a stoma were excluded from analysis. In this study we¦present the short-term results.¦Results: Three-hundred patients (mean age 47·5, women 55%) were operated¦with 1074 TS of which 477(44%) were 5 mm TS. Indication to laparoscopy was¦cholecystectomy (31·3%), appendectomy (26·6%), upper GI surgery (16·3%),¦colon resection (13·3%) or other (12·3%). Follow-up at 1 month was completed¦in 90%.¦The 5 mm TS had an infection rate of 0·2%, and a hematoma rate of 1·7%.¦VAS pain scores at the 5mm TS were ≤3 in 91·6% at rest and in 75·9% upon¦effort at discharge, and in 97% at 1 month. Median patient scar assessment¦score (PSAS) of the 5 mm TS at 1 month was 6 (IQR: 2-9) out of 60 (0 =¦best score). Overall discomfort of the 5 mm TS in a VAS scale was 0 in 77%¦and ≤3 in 95% of patients at 1 month. Morbidity, pain assessments, PSAS, and¦overall discomfort scores were all significantly better for 5 mm TS compared to¦larger TS.¦Conclusion: Morbidity, pain, cosmetic impact and overall patient's discomfort¦related to a 5 mm trocar site is extremely low. For this reason, any potential¦advantage related to omitting 5 mm trocars to perform the same type of surgery¦will be difficult to demonstrate.
