Identificação de categorias retóricas sentenciais em abstracts de Química

Abstracts of scientific articles offer the first contact their readers have with the issues and results presented by the article, thus having a pivotal screening role. Due to their importance, they need to be well written, taking into account their genre-specific rules. Several studies have aimed at describing its particular textual structure, its rubric, though there is still much data to be amassed. The purpose of this work was to analyze a corpus of Chemistry abstracts, seeking the rhetoric categories that structure them in the sentence level and to describe its rubric. In order to do that, we have used lexical and grammatical evidence to categorise the rhetoric role each sentence has. We have found that the expected structure occurs, the main rhetoric focus being the presentation of results in the vast majority of cases. Furthermore, the occurrence of certain categories may depend on the size of the abstract, and certain rhetoric roles are embedded in others, especially the one describing method. The corpus has yet to be expanded to offer further results, two of them being to help non-native writers to better structure the textual level of their works and to build a software of automatic analysis of abstracts

Alfabetização: o texto e o contexto

This paper is the result of a research about literacy concept from official documents, dictionaries and linguists. As an expansion of literacy concept was observed through last century, this investigation searched for an opposite way, in other words, a contraction of the literacy concept in order to clarify its nature and this way to be the starting point for literacy teachers. The best way to literacy happens was also part of the research, then the text was considered like that, since it is a real communicative situation. Besides it should be a meaning system which can be accessed again any time. It would include many kinds of texts – oral or written – as long as they were recorded somehow. The best text form was investigated as well, in other words, the best speech genre for teaching literacy, once there are important elements which should be considered during the literacy acquisition, such as the encouragement to read and to think about the correct writing of the words. In the end, considerations were made concerning the literacy teacher‘s awareness about the context change when the text is used in a scholar context and about the skills acquired by the students which should be transported to other texts in varied contexts

Estudo sobre depósitos tecnogênicos no entorno da represa da Sabesp em Presidente Prudente-SP

The human being has a dependency with the natural environment, since it is from withdrawing resources from it is essential for their survival. But this relationship appears to be unbalanced from the moment that society emerges and changes the substrate in which land is located. In this context the study about the formation of technogenic deposits, has assisted in the preparation of environmental diagnoses in an area very changed by society. Technogenic deposits are sedimentary deposits originated by human activities in the environment, with special emphasis in this work in the fluvial plains. Their classification depends on both the manufactured materials found in its layers, and the processes that led to its formation. Thus, the main objective was to understand the formation history of technogenic deposits in the fluvial plains of the Santo Anastacio river and streams of Cedro and Cedrinho surrounding the dam of SABESP (Basic Sanitation Company of São Paulo) in Presidente Prudente-SP. The experimental proceedings are based mainly on realization of fieldwork to characterization study area, collection of technogenic materials in PVC´s (polyvinyl chloride) tube, and analysis of laboratory through of particle size analysis (EMBRAPA, 1997) of the technogenics layers... O ensino de língua inglesa nos primeiros anos do ensino fundamental: uma abordagem transdisciplinar

This study is a reflexive review of theories about the teaching of English to children in Elementary School, a suggestion to teach English through the Fairy Tales and Fables, associated with the study of Transversal Themes suggested by the plot in the selected stories.
