Geografia do poder em goffman: vigilância e resistência, dominação e produção de subjetividade no hospital psiquiátrico

Neste artigo, estamos procurando recuperar alguns estudos de Goffman, lidos a partir das discussões atuais da análise institucional, das contribuições de Michel Foucault relativas à microfísica do poder e das investigações de alguns pesquisadores quanto à produção de subjetividade nas instituições de Saúde Coletiva. Goffman, apesar de não estar munido dos recursos teóricos de tais pesquisadores, já era capaz de explicitar em suas análises muito mais do que provavelmente imaginava articular. Acreditamos que Goffman já produz acuradas cartografias do dispositivo manicomial, descrevendo toda uma geografia do poder na instituição total, atento aos detalhes da rotina cotidiana. Suas investigações da dimensão intrainstitucional desses dispositivos continuam atuais e eficazes para a compreensão da produção da subjetividade no contexto institucional. Também encontramos muitas ressonâncias notáveis entre Goffman e Foucault.

Helena de Machado de Assis; Imagens literárias e a retórica da morte da nação inconclusa

Processos de constituição de subjetividades em práticas discursivas institucionalizadas: entre a disciplina, a performatividade e a biopolítica

Esta es una pesquisa de naturaleza cualitativa de abordaje socio-histórico, con procedimientos etnográficos. Tiene como temática prácticas a constitución de subjetividades en relaciones interdiscursivas entre los discursos propalados por la Medicina Legal con prácticas discursivas de futuros(as) profesionales de la educación. En consecuencia de ese objeto de investigación, establecemos como cuestión central: ¿en qué medida prácticas discursivas producidas por la Medicina Legal producen sentidos en enunciados de alumnos y alumnas del curso de Pedagogía de UFRN, de modo a constituir subjetividades pautadas por el trastorno, por la anormalidad y por la enfermedad? En ese sentido, el objetivo de este trabajo es analizar prácticas discursivas institucionalizadas que constituyen subjetividades del género y sexualidad pautadas por efectos de sentidos que traducen las sexualidades disidentes como trastorno, perversión y anormalidad. Como herramientas teórico-analíticas actualizamos, principalmente, algunas reflexiones de Michel Foucault concernientes a la temática del biopoder y de la disciplina, algunas teorizaciones advenidas de los estudios Queer y nociones del Análisis del Discurso de línea francesa, como el discurso, memoria discursiva e interdiscurso. Los resultados de esta pesquisa demuestran que las subjetividades son constituidas en un proceso que alía el lenguaje de prácticas médicas, científicas, al habla de nuestros(as) colaboradores(as), en una relación interdiscursiva. Así, las subjetividades se constituyen pautadas por la anormalidad, por el trastorno, por la medicalización de las conductas y de los deseos. Todavía, percibimos el cruce de conductas biopolíticas y disciplinarizadoras en ese proceso de constitución de subjetividades, por medio de sanciones y posibles perjuicios que esos individuos anormales causan a la sociedad, justificadas tanto por los discursos de la Medicina Legal, como de los(as) colaboradores(as) de la pesquisa.

Práticas discursivas de regulamentação e liberdade no processo de desenvolvimento profissional: a constituição de subjetividades de professores na Revista Nova Escola

This present thesis has the object to study the discursive constitution the teacher s subjectivities of practice permeating the sections of the magazine Nova Escola between the years 2000-2005. Problematizes how the teacher s subjectivities are produced facing the discourse of truth, which effects establishes a program for autonomist professional development in a perspective of neo-liberal governmentality. Then from this uneasiness arises some requisite questions: in the new century how teacher s subjectivities are discursively produced in magazine s sections Nova Escola during those five years of governmentality? In which perspective the discourses throughout government documents in related with professional development reflect in the linguistic-discursive repertories adopted by Nova Escola? How the experts belonging to the cadre from and/or guests from the magazine, seeking equip discursive the teacher s subjectivities for the XXI Century? Therefore, this paper objective is to examine the linguistics strategies used to produce these subjectivities at magazine s sections, what it admittedly teaches another method how to be teacher; and also it analyzes the discursive practices that compound and set boundaries to the autonomist professional development proposed by sections the magazine; describe technologies used by experts to equip and conduct of conduct the teacher to govern the self. This research is inserted theoretically in the field of Applied Linguistis, to the Cultural Studies and about the contribution of Michel Foucault s theories and methodologically in the perspective discursive interpretative. The results seek to show that the teacher s subjectivities are produced by many technologies of the self, traversed by government discourses and ratified by discursive practices of the magazine s experts. That discourse, without any oppressing or authoritarian connotation, opens space for practice of Freedom and self guiding to both constitute the subjectivity process of the teacher in the XXI Century s path

Foucault e a arte do cuidado de si: uma nova possibilidade de Discussão para a formação continuada de professores de língua inglesa

This thesis proposes a new thinking on the English teacher and their continuing education, leaving the picture emerging of a new professional, who is producing and being produced. From this perspective, I present an analysis of self writing of thirteen student-teachers, teachers on how they position themselves to be discursively constituted as subjects in the context of continuing education. As part of Applied Linguistics, the theory and method that supports the analysis of data are articulate key elements of Foucault notions, namely:The care of the self, seeking their connection with one another and care of and the self writing. In the theoretical notions of these elements are implied notions of others, such as speech, ethics, technology of the self, subject and truth. (Foucault, 1984, 1995, 2004c, 2006), and questioning the ethics of the subject. I propose to examine selected excerpts from the self writings of student teachers with a specialization in Teaching and Learning the English Language, seeking linguistic processes in the material production of subjectivities.In order to analyze the process of subjectivation, I examine the discursive statements of selected cuts, aiming to learn more specifically, the points of identification and fragments of the uniqueness of the teachers, showing how they care for themselves and reflect upon them in building their subjectivity from the technologies of the self, to occupy the position of English Language teachers. The results show that, in the exercise of self writing, the subject falls, and a practice of asceticism, discursively construct her/his subjectivity

Prazer com razão: análise e crítica da ética sexual Kantiana

This work aims to present the foundations of Kantian ethics concerning to moral judgments about sexual practices. It shows that the sexual act, for the philosopher, inevitably degrades individuals who are taking part of it, given its objectifying nature, manifested in the usage of individuals as mere means to obtain pleasure. To solve this quandary of nature since humanity is an end in itself, by the virtue of being bearer of rationality and cannot, therefore, be treated as mere means Kant claims that marriage is morally the appropriate locus for the exercise of sexuality, given the reciprocity forged there, preventing degradation. In marriage, the bond established between the impulse of nature to the conservation of the species achieved through the sexual intercourse opened to procreation and the duty of man in regarding himself as an animal being preserving the species without degrading the person is accomplished in a fully moral way. This text clarifies that the justification for the assumption of this solution is fixed at two developments of the categorical imperative: the formulas of the law of nature and humanity. Despite the fact the first brings significant contributions to human relations through the concept of reciprocity, the second establishes a normative role for the teleological argument of sexuality, becoming an obstacle in kantian's practical philosophy. To overcome that obstacle, we outline a critics which relies on the studies of Michel Foucault about sex and the power techniques related to them, producer of a scientia sexualis in the Western, demonstrating that the moral of the philosopher from Königsberg is also present in this project somehow. Finally, in a foucaultian's reading of kantian Aufklärung, we recognize that, to propose new ethical possibilities of the experience of sexuality, it is necessary to think and create new relational spaces in which the subject takes autonomously the government of self.

Sair curado para a vida e para o bem: diagramas, linhas e dispersão de forças no complexus nosoespacial do Hospital de Caridade Juvino Barreto (1909-1927)

This work has as object of study the Hospital de Caridade Juvino Barreto, nosocomial institution located in the city of Natal (RN), between the Praia de Areia Preta and the Monte Petrópolis, focusing on the period from 1909, the year in which the new hospital building was constructed and opened, and 1927, the date of the transfer of administration of the public domain to the newly created Sociedade de Assistência Hospitalar (SAH). We study the conditions of possibility of the emergence of this hospital space in the urban environment of the capital of Rio Grande do Norte, seeking to understand the different tactics and strategies implemented by the historical subjects involved in the formation of this institution nosocomial. Starting from a corpus of documents consisting of medical memories (with Dr. Januário Cicco as privileged observer), information present in newspapers (the Republic and the Christmas Journa l), photo collection and extensive administrative and legal material (Speeches, Exhibitions, Reports, Laws and Resolutions), we analyzed in detail the medical geography of HCJB, relating the discourses of medicine and geography in choosing the spatial location of the hospital as we examine the architecture of the hospital, its inner spat iality, divisions, forms of space control, and, finally, we discuss the medical practices that took place within it, leading us in this regard, from the experiences of clinical hospital chief, Dr. Januário Cicco, especially the discussion on "ethics" in hospital work. The perception of HCJB as medical nosoespaciality always on the move, incorporated under taxonomic principles based on difference and dispersion forces, led us to articulate it theoretically from the conceptual-methodological arsenal of philosopher Michel Foucault, particularly his reflections of genealogical phase, focusing on the phenomenon of power, a position that allows us to enhance our space-hospital construction, invention, product of power relations, which give the unfinished aspect nosocômio, apparent, always at stake, perpetual non-modeling possibility has previously defined array, establishing it at the field of possible, of virtuality, of power: hospital that could have been and that it was not. Arranjos urbanos e subjetivos contemporâneos na invenção de territórios turísticos

We seek consistency empirical and analytical rigor to the concept of touristification in the course of the contemporary arrangements of subjectivity and urbanity stations through a landscape of social (dis)encounters between residents and foreigners living in the capital of Rio Grande do Norte, Natal. In the last three decades the city has become a major destination country for national and international tourism, making tourism an important monitor of choreography in search of synchrony between cities and subjectivities, orchestrated by the cyclical crises and the relentless battle for systemic capitalistic expansion and survival. We proceed with an ethnographic and cartographic inspiration in Ponta Negra, where the waterfront redevelopment in 2000 conducted by the government, influenced the implementation of various establishments, services and practices related to the construction of Natal s major industry hub of tourism and entertainment. We proposed an arch-genealogy of touristification inspared on Michel Foucault analytical perspective, increased by authors in confluence or in different theoretical and methodological approaches, among which stand out Karl Marx, Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, Michael Hardt and Antonio Negri. The reflections that initially turned to the advancement of the sphere of consumerism as the issue capable of articulating the developmental trajectory of the capitalist system and the practice of tourism, promoting some effects (un)desirable in the conflictual dynamics of the condition of the district of Ponta Negra, territory each again (re) produces the designs to meet the consumption by affluent portion of the population and foreign, encountering social exclusion and inclusion differentiated a growing trend. We go forward with an analysis of the "liberation of desire" phenomenal features of the process of producing subjective, providing a breakdown of the recent world s financial crisis initially, but proved social and political crisis also, through a plot derived from the operation of real estate speculation, which Natal is mainly caught through touristification, showing the outlines of a generalized crisis in establishing a new order buoyed by the emergence of a context "biopolitical" since it is a major route that uses the capital to survive and expand, while guiding the process of "strategic beautification" held in Ponta Negra, problematized by us. We conclude by assessing the appropriateness of proposing on further analysis to explore the establishment of a "new social ontology in terms of interference touristification ongoing and the constitution of a "new order" local/global, away from that characterize a system's capitalist overcoming, try to give emphasis in the current stage of the radicalization of a capitalistic utopia

O dispositivo alta nos Centros de Atenção Psicossocial/CAPS : loucura, vida cotidiana e organização social

The present paper proposes an analysis about the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform as a public policy and deriving from a research developed with the workers of a Psychosocial Attention Centre III (CAPS III) and the managers of the Psychosocial Attention Web (REAP) in Aracaju. This analysis is developed as an investigation of the discharge at those services, understood not as a procedure, but as a dispositive from which different elements can be articulated: users, knowledge, technical procedures, police measures, juridical decisions, laws, services edifying. This, form the background of the articulation between mental alienation and the subject of right alienation, in the ways through which this articulation develops to the relations between madness,citizenship, internment and substitutive practices. Our investigation about the discharge as a dispositive was built with some narrative constructions, as a discourse analysis inspired by Michel Foucault s method, from the perspective of some of the main dispositive operators: workers and managers. The main aspect observed were: the articulations built by the discharge as a dispositive based on two discursive grate, the Reform as a new treatment substituting internship, and the Reform as juridical insertion and users rights practice; the exercise of these discursive grades based on the workers and managers perspective; the transference of limitations and contradictions of these grades to the competence of the dispositive operators, emerged in an outstanding way, as sometimes those operators are liable for the emergent limitations and difficulties, and some other times they are restrained by their institutional role, which is to maintain the domination relations articulated by the dispositive; finally, some aspects extracted which the dispositive operators - when they were expected to act in a way to maintain certain power relations - were capable to resist, managing other power relations from the dispositive, that we call, as Agamben, dispositive profanity

Espaço inventado: o teatro pós-dramático na escola

Com a publicação da lei n. 9394/96, a arte integra-se ao currículo do ensino básico como área de conhecimento. Neste ensaio, problematiza-se essa nova condição da arte na escola, refletindo a particularidade da experiência artística em relação às outras disciplinas, de modo a não se descaracterizar o que é próprio dela. A partir do entendimento de que a presença da arte é provocadora de mudanças, busca-se observar aquilo que, na escola, é necessário ser tocado por ela. Esse olhar investigativo flagra uma cena de destruição, com problemáticas muito próximas daquelas expressas pelo teatro contemporâneo. Com isso, sugere-se aproximar a realidade escolar de formas do teatro pós-dramático, com o intuito de inventar espaços que possam vir a ser coletivos e que acolham o que se chamou de trocas de intimidades. Dessa aproximação, reitera-se o conceito de conhecimento como invenção, defendido por Michel Foucault, e detecta-se a necessidade de elaborar uma atitude docente que seja provocativa e crie ações educativas de tipo estratégico.

Este artigo objetiva uma reflexão sobre o conceito marxista de ideologia, ao mesmo tempo em que busca entender a transposição do nível da consciência para o nível da corporalidade física, feita por Michel Foucault, como forma de instituição do poder disciplinar sobre os indivíduos, como meio de dominação muito mais eficaz do que a própria consciência.

Para que serve uma subjetividade? Foucault, tempo e corpo

O presente artigo procura retomar a mudança de rumo da obra de Foucault que determinou o enfoque sobre a subjetividade, sobretudo nos dois últimos volumes de História da Sexualidade. Com isso, nossa atenção volta-se para os marcos da definição de subjetividade como processo ou prática, que são a relação com o tempo e a dimensão transformacional ou criativa do corpo. Tal investigação conceitual sobre a subjetividade em Foucault procura indicar, outrossim, de que maneira a criação filosófica está relacionada ao modo de vida ou estilo de um filósofo. O pensamento derradeiro de Foucault é consistente com o estilo que ele vinha construindo no decorrer de sua obra, de modo que se discute a invectiva de que esta última fase, por razões várias, seria o lugar de um retorno do sujeito ou do homem que Foucault havia negado anteriormente.

Ser professora, ser mulher: um estudo sobre concepções de gênero e sexualidade para um grupo de alunas de pedagogia

Este trabalho tem por objetivo investigar as concepções de relações de gênero de um grupo de alunas do curso de Pedagogia que já atuam na educação escolar como professoras. Para a realização desta pesquisa qualitativa, de tipologia analítico-descritiva, foi utilizada uma entrevista semiestruturada com as universitárias escolhidas. A construção e a análise do objeto têm como fundamentação teórica os estudos de Michel Foucault, Joan Scott e Guacira Lopes Louro. Constatamos que, em um processo de acomodação e resistência, as categorias mulher e professora se fundem, o que obscurece, em certa medida, a atuação da professora como profissional da educação.
