Ilusão e realidade em Ivaporunduva: a televisão na cultura quilombola. Análise a partir da Folkmídia

Este estudo de caso visa, a partir de pesquisa de campo, pesquisa bibliográfica e entrevistas abertas observar como a televisão, enquanto meio de comunicação de massa, transforma ou influencia a cultura de uma comunidade quilombola. O objeto desta análise é a comunidade quilombola de Ivaporunduva, na área rural da cidade de Eldorado Paulista, região do Vale do Ribeira, interior do estado de São Paulo. Seus modos de vida têm sido constantemente ameaçados pela intenção da construção de barragens na cabeceira do rio Ribeira de Iguape, na margem do qual localizam-se diversas comunidades quilombolas, inclusive Ivaporunduva; pela falta de políticas públicas que resguardem verdadeiramente seus direitos, e pela falta de trabalho, o que acarreta na saída dos jovens da comunidade em busca de novos horizontes. A televisão faz parte de um novo universo na realidade quilombola e entra na vida desses homens e mulheres do campo como veículo de entretenimento e porta para um mundo de ilusões e realidades onde buscam encontrar-se e muitas vezes se frustram. A cultura quilombola e suas transformações depois da entrada da televisão em Ivaporunduva serão analisadas a partir da Folkmídia, espaço teórico que analisa a maneira pela qual os meios de comunicação abstraem elementos da cultura popular e vice-versa. É o vice-versa que aqui nos importa.

A presente dissertação faz um resumo histórico-teológico das relações de Israel com nações estrangeiras. Estuda a origem deste povo, em seus aspectos antropológico-culturais na época do tribalismo e compara com a situação no período Babilônico e Persa. Compreendendo as diferentes posturas da nação em relação à presença de estrangeiros no meio do povo de Deus, investiga a origem do nacionalismo exclusivista a partir do livro do Dt, confrontando com as narrativas de Ed 9 e 10 e Ne 13 na questão dos casamentos mistos. Por fim traz propostas de inclusão da literatura pós-exílica na qual crianças e mulheres estrangeiras fazem ouvir sua voz de protesto.(AU)

Information systems offshore outsourcing: managerial conclusions from academic research

In the light of the growing interest raised by Information Systems Offshore Outsourcing both in the managerial world and in the academic arena, the present work carries out a revision of the research in this area. We have analysed 89 research articles on this topic published in 17 prestigious journals. The analysis deals with aspects such as research methodologies, level of analysis in the studies, data perspective, economic theories used or location of vendors and clients of these services; and it additionally identifies the most frequent topics in this field as well as the most prolific authors and countries. Although other reviews about the research in this area have been published, the present paper achieves a greater level of detail than previous works. The review of the literature in the area could have interesting implications not only for academics but also for business practice.

Environment and health with respect to a poverty-related disease: the epidemiology of trachoma in Spain, 1925-1941

Trachoma currently represents one of the three main causes of ‘avoidable' blindness and reaches intolerable dimensions in many developing countries. It was endemic in many regions of eastern Spain until well into the twentieth century. The aim of this paper is to analyze the epidemiological development of this disease in contemporary Spain; to examine its determining factors, particularly environmental and sanitary/health factors, and, finally, to study the health care, environmental and socio-economic measures that led to its control and eradication. We believe that the historical approach not only highlights the role of environmental factors in the development of trachoma, but may also aid in understanding the current epidemiology of trachoma.

Comparative analysis of the relationship between anterior and posterior corneal shape analyzed by Scheimpflug photography in normal and keratoconus eyes

Background To analyze and compare the relationship between anterior and posterior corneal shape evaluated by a tomographic system combining the Scheimpflug photography and Placido-disc in keratoconus and normal healthy eyes, as well as to evaluate its potential diagnostic value. Methods Comparative case series including a sample of 161 eyes of 161 subjects with ages ranging from 7 to 66 years and divided into two groups: normal group including 100 healthy eyes of 100 subjects, and keratoconus group including 61 keratoconus eyes of 61 patients. All eyes received a comprehensive ophthalmologic examination including an anterior segment analysis with the Sirius system (CSO). Antero-posterior ratios for corneal curvature (k ratio) and shape factor (p ratio) were calculated. Logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate if some antero–posterior ratios combined with other clinical parameters were predictors of the presence of keratoconus. Results No statistically significant differences between groups were found in the antero–posterior k ratios for 3-, 5- and 7-mm diameter corneal areas (p ≥ 0.09). The antero–posterior p ratio for 4.5- and 8-mm diameter corneal areas was significantly higher in the normal group than in the keratoconus group (p < 0.01). The k ratio for 3, 5, and 7 mm was significantly higher in the keratoconus grade IV subgroup than in the normal group (p < 0.01). Furthermore, significant differences were found in the p ratio between the normal group and the keratoconus grade II subgroup (p ≤ 0.01). Finally, the logistic regression analysis identified as significant independent predictors of the presence of keratoconus (p < 0.01) the 8-mm anterior shape factor, the anterior chamber depth, and the minimal corneal thickness. Conclusions The antero-posterior k and p ratios are parameters with poor prediction ability for keratoconus, in spite of the trend to the presence of more prolate posterior corneal surfaces compared to the anterior in keratoconus eyes.
