Analyse du chapitre de la Critique de la raison pure intitulé « Du principe de la distinction de tous les objets en général en phénomènes et noumènes »

Le but de ce mémoire est d’effectuer une analyse détaillée de ce chapitre de la Critique de la raison pure de Kant à partir de l’idée qu’il présente les « résultats » de la démarche critique menée jusque-là concernant les limites de la connaissance. Le mémoire sera divisé en deux parties. Dans la première partie, nous montrerons que ce chapitre dresse un bilan provisoire et que pour cette raison il soulève deux enjeux : 1 – montrer que les concepts purs de l'entendement – en dépit de leur caractère a priori et de leur origine dans l'entendement pur – ne sont susceptibles d'un usage objectif qu'appliqués aux données de la sensibilité (A 246/B 303 : « L'Analytique transcendantale a donc cet important résultat... ») ; 2 – montrer que, à son tour, la sensibilité est elle-même limitée par l'entendement et qu'elle ne renferme pas la totalité des objets possibles (A 251 : « Tel a été le résultat de toute l'Esthétique transcendantale... »). Dans la seconde partie, nous analyserons les différences entre les deux éditions de la Critique de la raison pure concernant ce chapitre en insistant tout particulièrement sur la distinction faite dans la deuxième édition entre noumène au sens positif et noumène au sens négatif.

Induction of astrocytic cyclooxygenase-2 in epileptic patients with hippocampal sclerosis.

Induction of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) has been described in a wide range of neurological diseases including animal models of epilepsy. The present study was undertaken to assess COX-2 expression in hippocampal biopsies from patients with therapy-refractive temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). For this purpose, hippocampal CA1 subfield was dissected from epileptic patients with (n=5) or without (n=2) hippocampal sclerosis (HS). COX-2 expression was investigated using immunohistochemistry and semi-quantitative RT-PCR. COX-2 immunoreactivity in TLE patient material in the absence of HS was restricted to a few neurons of the hippocampus. In the presence of HS, on the other hand, a significant induction of astrocytic COX-2 immunoreactivity associated with a concomitant increase in the steady-state level of COX-2 mRNA was observed in the CA1 subfield. These findings suggest that induction of astrocytic COX-2 is implicated in the pathogenesis of HS in TLE and is consistent with the previous findings of increased concentrations of prostaglandins in the cerebrospinal fluid of these patients.

How do social interactions with a significant other affect PTSD symptoms? An empirical investigation with a clinical sample.

Social support and coping are both related to posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms, but the mechanisms underlying their relationships remain unclear. This study explores these relationships by examining the perceived frequency of supportive and countersupportive interactions with a significant other in PTSD patients. Ninety-six participants with PTSD were recruited and completed questionnaires assessing social interactions, ways of coping, and PTSD symptoms. Associations of social interactions (r2 = 4.1%–7.9%, p < .05) and coping (r2 = 15.9%– 16.5%, p < .001) with symptoms were independent, and suggested a direct association between social interactions and PTSD. Countersupportive interactions were more associated to symptoms than supportive interactions. Our findings suggest the development of psychotherapies that integrate social support interventions.

STYRENE BUTADIENE RUBBER/RECLAIMED RUBBER BLENDS

Cure characteristics and mechanical properties of styrene butadiene rubber reclaimed rubber blends were studied. The blends showed improved processability, as indicated by the minimum torque values. Cure characteristics like minimum torque, (maximum-minimum) torque, cure time and cure rate decreased in the presence of reclaimed rubber. Tensile strength, tear strength, elongation at break were higher for blends. Resilience decreased with reclaim content. Compression set and abrasion loss were higher in the blends.

Nonlinear optical absorption in silver nanosol

Nonlinear optical absorption in silver nanosol was investigated at selected wavelengths (456 nm, 477 nm and 532 nm) using open aperture Z-scan technique. It was observed that nature of nonlinear absorption is sensitively dependent on input fluence as well as on excitation wavelength. Besides, the present sample was found to exhibit reverse saturable absorption (RSA) and saturable absorption (SA) at these wavelengths depending on excitation fluence. RSA is attributed to enhanced absorption resulting from photochemical changes. SA observed for fluence values lower and higher than those corresponding to RSA are, respectively, attributed to plasmon bleach and saturation of RSA.
