Australian Unity wellbeing index survey 25.1 part A : report "The wellbeing of Australians - bushfires and floods : following up the effects of fires in Victoria and floods in Queensland"

The Australian Unity Wellbeing Index monitors the subjective wellbeing of the Australian population. Our first survey was conducted in April 2001 and this report concerns a special Survey 25.1, undertaken in October 2011. The survey was commissioned to detect whether the disastrous floods in North Queensland in the period December 2010 through February 2011, and fires in Victoria in the period January through February 2009, continued to affect the subjective wellbeing of people continuing to live in the disaster areas.

This survey involved 1,215 respondents, with 600 drawn from Victoria and 615 from Queensland. The questionnaire comprised only the Personal Wellbeing Index and a small set of demographic questions. In all other respects the methodology of the survey followed our normal procedures.1

An ultra low power OTA with improved unity gain bandwidth product

An operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) using dynamic threshold MOS (DTMOS) and hybrid compensation technique is presented in this paper. The proposed topology is based on a bulk and gate driven input differential pair. Two separate capacitors are employed for the OTA compensation where one of them is used in a signal path and the other one in a non-signal path. The circuit is designed in the 0.18μm CMOS TSMC technology. The proposed design technique shows remarkable enhancement in unity gain-bandwidth and also in DC gain compared to the bulk driven input differential pair OTAs. The Hspice simulation results show that the amplifier has a 92dB open-loop DC gain and a unity gain-bandwidth of 135kHz while operating at 0.4V supply voltage. The total power consumption is as low as 386nW which makes it suitable for low-power bio-medical and bio-implantable applications.

The Australian Unity Wellbeing Index monitors the subjective wellbeing of the Australian population. Our first survey was conducted in April 2001 and this report concerns the 28 th survey, undertaken in September 2012. Our previous survey had been conducted six months earlier in April. This intervening period corresponded to the 5 th year of the Labor Government, elected in November 2007. It was also marked by continuing apprehension at the unstable international financial situation, with serious problems in Europe. The Australian economy, however, appeared stable.
