We determine necessary and sufficient conditions for a vector to be the fine structure of a directed triple system of index 3 for upsilon = 2 (mod 3).

Teen Triple P: A universal approach to reducing risk factors for behavioural and emotional problems in adolescents at the transition to high school

Teen Triple P is a multilevel system of intervention that is designed to provide parents with specific strategies to promote the positive development of their teenage children as they make the transition into high school and through puberty. The program is based on a combination of education about the developmental needs of adolescents, skills training to improve communication and problem-solving, plus specific modules to deal with common problems encountered by parents and adolescents that can escalate into major conflict and violence. It is designed to increase the engagement of parents of adolescent and pre-adolescent children by providing them with easy access to evidencebased parenting advice and support. This paper presents data collected as part of a survey of over 1400 students in first year high school at 9 Brisbane schools. The survey instrument was constructed to obtain students' reports about behaviour which is known to be associated with their health and wellbeing, and also on the extent to which their parents promoted or discouraged such behaviour at home, at school, and in their social and recreational activities in the wider community. Selected data from the survey were extracted and presented to parents at a series of parenting seminars held at the schools to promote appropriate parenting of teenagers. The objectives were to provide parents with accurate data about teenagers' behaviour, and about teenagers' reports of how they perceived their parents' behaviour. Normative data on parent and teenager behaviour will be presented from the survey as well as psychometric data relating to the reliability and validity of this new measure. Implications of this strategy for increasing parent engagement in parenting programs that aim to reduce behavioural and emotional problems in adolescents will be discussed.

Flash vacuum thermolysis of a large variety of heterocyclic compounds is a useful means of production of ketenes, ketenimines, thioketenes, allenes, iminopropadienones, bis(imino)propadienes, iminopropadienethiones, carbodiimides, isothiocyanates, acetylenes, fulminic acid, nitrile imines and nitrile ylides, nitriles, cyanamides, cyanates, and other compounds, often in preparatively useful yields.

A conjecture on small embeddings of partial Steiner triple systems

A well-known, and unresolved, conjecture states that every partial Steiner triple system of order u can be embedded in a Steiner triple system of order v for all v equivalent to 1 or 3 (mod 6), v greater than or equal to 2u + 1. However, some partial Steiner triple systems of order u can be embedded in Steiner triple systems of order v < 2u + 1. Large sets of large sets of Steiner triple systems of order 9

We describe a direct method of partitioning the 840 Steiner triple systems of order 9 into 120 large sets. The method produces partitions in which all of the large sets are isomorphic and we apply the method to each of the two non-isomorphic large sets of STS(9).

El efecto de la triple hélice en los resultados de innovación

La innovación está relacionada con el crecimiento de las economías y de las empresas, y en un entorno cambiante como el actual, se presenta como una herramienta fundamental para conseguir ventajas competitivas. Esta investigación tiene por objetivo analizar la relación existente entre la capacidad de innovación de las empresas y la obtención de información de las mismas a través de la cooperación con competidores, proveedores, Universidades y otras instituciones públicas (Triple Hélice). En primer lugar se desarrolla una revisión bibliográfica de los conceptos relacionados para posteriormente, a través del método de ecuaciones estructurales, dar respuesta y aceptar la hipótesis propuesta que pone de manifiesto la relación existente entre los resultados de innovación de las empresas y la información obtenida de la Triple Hélice. La investigación se realiza con una muestra de empresas españolas, encuestadas por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), durante los años 2008-2010.

Convergência brasileira aos padrões internacionais de contabilidade pública vis-à-vis as estratégias top-down e bottom-up

O Brasil está em processo de convergência de sua contabilidade pública em relação aos padrões internacionais desenvolvidos pela Federação Internacional dos Contadores (Ifac). A implementação de sistemas de informação contábil é geralmente realizada por meio das abordagens top-down ou bottom-up. Assim, este estudo tem por objetivos: 1) identificar a abordagem adotada pelo governo federal brasileiro; 2) descrever o modelo de implementação do sistema de informação contábil público no Brasil; e 3) mapear o fluxo de informações e atores envolvidos no processo de convergência. A abordagem qualitativa foi adotada utilizando a pesquisa documental e análise de conteúdo de documentos disponíveis para operacionalizar a pesquisa. Foi identificado que o Brasil utiliza a abordagem middle-up-down, que favorece a interação entre múltiplos atores no processo, diferentemente da abordagem top-down, que segue o modelo internacional divulgado.

Multi-stage evolution of a sub-aerial volcanic ridge over the last 1.3 Myr: S. Jorge Island, Azores Triple Junction

New K/Ar dating and geochemical analyses have been carried out on the WNW-ESE elongated oceanic island of S. Jorge to reconstruct the volcanic evolution of a linear ridge developed close to the Azores triple junction. We show that S. Jorge sub-aerial construction encompasses the last 1.3 Myr, a time interval far much longer than previously reported. The early development of the ridge involved a sub-aerial building phase exposed in the southeast end of the island and now constrained between 1.32 +/- 0.02 and 1.21 +/- 0.02 Ma. Basic lavas from this older stage are alkaline and enriched in incompatible elements, reflecting partial melting of an enriched mantle source. At least three differentiation cycles from alkaline basalts to mugearites are documented within this stage. The successive episodes of magma rising, storage and evolution suggest an intermittent reopening of the magma feeding system, possibly due to recurrent tensional or trans-tensional tectonic events. Present data show a gap in sub-aerial volcanism before a second main ongoing building phase starting at about 750 ka. Sub-aerial construction of the S. Jorge ridge migrated progressively towards the west, but involved several overlapping volcanic episodes constrained along the main WNW-ESE structural axis of the island. Malic magmas erupted during the second phase have been also generated by partial melting of an enriched mantle source. Trace element data suggest, however, variable and lower degrees of partial melting of a shallower mantle domain, which is interpreted as an increasing control of lithospheric deformation on the genesis and extraction of primitive melts during the last 750 kyr. The multi-stage development of the S. Jorge volcanic ridge over the last 1.3 Myr has most likely been greatly influenced by regional tectonics, controlled by deformation along the diffuse boundary between the Nubian and the Eurasian plates, and the increasing effect of sea-floor spreading at the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.

Framework de controlo de acessos para Triple-stores com interface Sail API

Grande parte dos triples-stores são open source e desenvolvidos em Java, disponibilizando interfaces standards e privadas de acesso. A grande maioria destes sistemas não dispõe de mecanismos de controlo de acessos nativos, o que dificulta ou impossibilita a sua adopção em ambientes em que a segurança dos factos é importante (e.g. ambiente empresarial). Complementarmente observa-se que o modelo de controlo de acesso a triplos e em particular a triplos descritos por ontologias não está standardizado nem sequer estabilizado, havendo diversos modelos de descrição e algoritmos de avaliação de permissões de acesso. O trabalho desenvolvido nesta tese/dissertação propõe um modelo e interface de controlo de acesso que permite e facilite a sua adopção por diferentes triple-stores já existentes e a integração dos triples-stores com outros sistemas já existentes na organização. Complementarmente, a plataforma de controlo de acesso não impõe qualquer modelo ou algoritmo de avaliação de permissões, mas pelo contrário permite a adopção de modelos e algoritmos distintos em função das necessidades ou desejos. Finalmente demonstra-se a aplicabilidade e validade do modelo e interface propostos, através da sua implementação e adopção ao triple-store SwiftOWLIM já existente, que não dispõe de mecanismo de controlo de acessos nativo.
