Diagnóstico molecular da infecção por hemoplasmas em gatos domésticos naturalmente infectados da cidade de Belém, Pará

Mycoplasma haemofelis, 'Candidatus Mycoplasma haemominutum' e 'Candidatus Mycoplasma turicensis' são os agentes causadores da micoplasmose felina, que podem causar anemia aguda ou crônica. O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar a ocorrência de hemoplasmas em gatos domésticos de Belém, Pará. Para isso, 201 gatos foram divididos em três grupos: Grupo A foi composto por 101 gatos de rua capturados pelo Centro de Controle de Zoonoses, o grupo B foi composto por 62 gatos domiciliados e saud��veis e o grupo C foi composto por 38 gatos domiciliados que apresentavam alguma afecção clínica. Foram coletadas amostras de sangue para a realização de Reação em Cadeia pela Polimerase (PCR) para detectar o DNA destes agentes, os quais foram sequenciados e alinhados. A análise estatística foi realizada para detectar a associação entre a infecção, o sexo dos animais e os grupos experimentais. O DNA de pelo menos uma das espécies de hemoplasmas pesquisados foi detectado em 19,9% (40/201) das amostras, sendo o DNA de 'Candidatus M. haemominutum' encontrado em 7,96% (16/201) das amostras, M. haemofelis em 1,49% (3/201) das amostras, enquanto que o DNA de 'Candidatus M. turicensis' foi detectado em 12,93% (26/201) das amostras. O DNA destes três agentes foi detectado em gatos dos grupos A e C, enquanto que no grupo B foi detectado apenas 'Candidatus M. turicensis' e 'Candidatus M. haemominutum' Foi detectada a influência do sexo sobre a infecção hemoplasmas apenas entre 'Candidatus M. haemominutum' e machos. Estes resultados mostraram que os hemoplasmas circulam entre os gatos domésticos em Belém e 'Candidatus M. turicensis' e 'Candidatus M. haemominutum' foram mais comuns do que M. haemofelis, especialmente em gatos vadios.

Glutamate-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor modulation and minocycline for the treatment of patients with schizophrenia: an update

Growing consistent evidence indicates that hypofunction of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) transmission plays a pivotal role in the neuropathophysiology of schizophrenia. Hence, drugs which modulate NMDA neurotransmission are promising approaches to the treatment of schizophrenia. The aim of this article is to review clinical trials with novel compounds acting on the NMDA receptor (NMDA-R). This review also includes a discussion and translation of neuroscience into schizophrenia therapeutics. Although the precise mechanism of action of minocycline in the brain remains unclear, there is evidence that it blocks the neurotoxicity of NMDA antagonists and may exert a differential effect on NMDA signaling pathways. We, therefore, hypothesize that the effects of minocycline on the brain may be partially modulated by the NMDA-R or related mechanisms. Thus, we have included a review of minocycline neuroscience. The search was performed in the PubMed, Web of Science, SciELO, and Lilacs databases. The results of glycine and D-cycloserine trials were conflicting regarding effectiveness on the negative and cognitive symptoms of schizophrenia. D-serine and D-alanine showed a potential effect on negative symptoms and on cognitive deficits. Sarcosine data indicated a considerable improvement as adjunctive therapy. Finally, minocycline add-on treatment appears to be effective on a broad range of psychopathology in patients with schizophrenia. The differential modulation of NMDA-R neurosystems, in particular synaptic versus extrasynaptic NMDA-R activation and specific subtypes of NMDA-R, may be the key mediators of neurogenesis and neuroprotection. Thus, psychotropics modulating NMDA-R neurotransmission may represent future monotherapy or add-on treatment strategies in the treatment of schizophrenia.

Estabilidade do suco tropical de acerola (Malpighia emarginata d.c.) adoçado envasado pelos processos hot-fill e asséptico

Este trabalho objetivou avaliar a estabilidade do suco tropical de acerola adoçado, elaborado pelos processos hot fill (garrafas de vidro) e asséptico (embalagens cartonadas), com relação às alterações químicas e físico-químicas (pH, sólidos solúveis totais, acidez total titulável, cor, açúcares redutores, não redutores e totais), sensoriais e microbiológicas, durante 350 dias de armazenamento em condições similares às de comercialização (28 °C ± 2 °C). Ao final do experimento, constatou-se que as amostras de suco de ambos os processos mantiveram uma adequada estabilidade microbiológica. O suco do processo hot fill teve maior aceitação global, enquanto o do processo asséptico manteve, ao final dos 350 dias, a aceitação inicial. As amostras do processo asséptico apresentaram inicialmente melhor sabor em comparação com as do processo hot fill, no entanto, as do processo hot fill mantiveram o sabor estável, enquanto o sabor do suco do processo asséptico teve menor aceitação ao longo do armazenamento. Ainda foram observadas, alterações químicas e físico-químicas nos sucos de ambos os processos. Em geral, o processo hot fill foi o mais eficiente em manter a estabilidade do suco.

Vozes d'África Transatlântica: trajetórias estudantis de Cabo Verde e da Guiné-Bissau - programa de estudantes - convénio de graduação

A presente investigação tem como centralidade a mobilidade internacional de estudantes no caso, a dos africanos oriundos de Cabo Verde e da Guiné-Bissau, participantes do Programa Estudantes-Convênio de Graduação na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte - UFRN, inserida no fenômeno da internacionalização universitária, acentuada na globalização. O objetivo principal foi analisar o processo de inserção social e acad��mica desses estudantes, com ênfase para os dos cursos de Arquitetura e Urbanismo, Ciências da Computação, Engenharia da Computação e Medicina, nessa Instituição de Ensino Superior - IES. A metodologia foi norteada pela conjugação dos aportes teóricos e metodológicos qualiquantitativa, em que, na primeira, utilizou-se da entrevista semiestrutura dirigida para dezesseis sujeitos; sendo, a metade estudantes e a outra docentes, cuja análise optou-se pela Análise de Discurso (AD) da linha francesa, resultando as formações discursivas: motivações da mobilidade, registro nacional de estrangeiro, identidade étnica, relações étnicoraciais e o PEC-G: seu funcionamento nas práticas sociais na UFRN. Já a pesquisa quantitativa, foi constituída pela aplicação do questionário para o universo de 40 estudantes dos dois grupos e de todas as áreas de conhecimento, cuja interpretação dos dados, recorreu-se ao Programa SPSS. Já, para o recorte dos cursos específicos, foi utilizado, o do Google Doc, os quais, estão expressos em tabelas e gráficos. Os resultados revelaram que essa mobilidade estudantil africana está imersa por um misto de semelhanças e diferenças entre o Brasil e dos Países Africanos de Língua Oficial Poruguesa - PALOP; e mais dos contextos das hierarquias entre os países centrais, semiperiféricos e periféricos, provocadas pelas políticas de reajustes estruturais sobre os serviços educacionais, Sousa (Santos 2008; 2010), que se refletem nas trajetórias acad��micas temporária no país de acolhimento. Aqui, também, enfrenta as fragilidades e os avanços das políticas públicas do Sistema de Ensino Superior, implementadas pelo governo brasileiro nas IES. Em termos quantitativos para os quatros cursos analisados, em diferentes e curtos períodos, quanto a distribuição de vagas (acesso), formas de desligamentos e conclusão apontaram especificidades. E, grosso modo, o curso de Medicina, apresentou os melhores índices de conclusão, seguidos, pelos de Arquitetura e da Engenharia da Computação. A maioria dos estudantes são do sexo masculino, mais da metade está representada pelos oriundos de Cabo Verde, o restante, pelos da Guiné-Bissau. Enquanto, no curso de Ciências da Computação, foi nula a conclusão de curso, e em função deste histórico de baixo desempenho dos estudantes-convênio PEC-G, teria havido o fechamento de vagas. Mas, verificando-se, que os índices de conclusão nesses cursos, apresentou uma média abaixo dos cursos de graduação da UFRN, nos quais, esses estudantes são minoria ao lado dos afrobrasileiros nas universidades do Brasil.

Cinemas de rua em Porto Alegre : do recreio ideal (1908) ao Açores (1974)

Este trabalho se propõe a investigar as diferentes formas e configurações que as salas de cinema de rua de Porto Alegre adotaram ao longo do século XX. Antecipa o estudo central uma analise do caráter arquitetônico e dos elementos tipo-morfológicos definidores do programa arquitetônico “sala de cinema”. Com base neste instrumental e seguindo a evolução histórica, d�� cada a d�� cada, o autor desenvolve então a análise das salas de cinema de rua de Porto Alegre.

Infância, tempo e atividades cotidianas de crianças em situação de rua : as contribuições da teoria dos sistemas ecológicos

Esta tese apresenta dados de um estudo descritivo exploratório com crianças em situação de rua da cidade de Ribeirão Preto, interior do Estado de São Paulo. Foi abordada, através de uma perspectiva ecológica, a temática da infância, abrangendo seus significados e determinações para estas crianças, questões de temporalidade e da identificação, descrição e significação de atividades cotidianas em situação de rua. A amostra foi composta por dez crianças com idades entre oito e onze anos, de ambos os sexos. Com base nos pressupostos teórico-metodológicos da Teoria dos Sistemas Ecológicos e na revisão da literatura nas áreas da História, Psicologia e Psicopatologia do Desenvolvimento foram criados quatro instrumentos de pesquisa (entrevista sócio-demográfica, jogo de sentenças incompletas sobre a infância, entrevista semi-estruturada sobre o tempo e gravuras sobre atividades cotidianas em situação de rua), aplicados na própria situação de rua. Os dados mostram: a) a diversidade da rua enquanto ambiente de desenvolvimento, b) a presença de contatos familiares freqüentes na vida das crianças, c) a defasagem escolar característica, d) a infância definida dentro de parâmetros ideais propostos no macrossistema, e) a vivência do tempo estruturada em rotinas onde a cronologia não se encontra presente de forma incisiva, f) as atividades cotidianas abrangendo diferentes significações, com expressões de diversos afetos e opiniões sobre o viver a situação de rua. A Teoria dos Sistemas Ecológicos sustenta a análise destes dados dentro de parâmetros de integração entre as dimensões Tempo, Pessoa, Processo e Contexto, viabilizando a valorização da criação de instrumentos que favoreçam a descrição e análise da realidade pelos próprios participantes da pesquisa e a proposta e sustentação de projetos de intervenção nesta realidade.

Biodegradação de hidrocarbonetos aromáticos policíclicos: prospecção metagenômica e modelagem computacional 3-D de proteínas

Knowledge of the native prokaryotes in hazardous locations favors the application of biotechnology for bioremediation. Independent strategies for cultivation and metagenomics contribute to further microbiological knowledge, enabling studies with non-cultivable about the "native microbiological status and its potential role in bioremediation, for example, of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (HPA's). Considering the biome mangrove interface fragile and critical bordering the ocean, this study characterizes the native microbiota mangrove potential biodegradability of HPA's using a biomarker for molecular detection and assessment of bacterial diversity by PCR in areas under the influence of oil companies in the Basin Petroleum Geology Potiguar (BPP). We chose PcaF, a metabolic enzyme, to be the molecular biomarker in a PCR-DGGE detection of prokaryotes that degrade HPA s. The PCR-DGGE fingerprints obtained from Paracuru-CE, Fortim-CE and Areia Branca-RN samples revealed the occurrence of fluctuations of microbial communities according to the sampling periods and in response to the impact of oil. In the analysis of microbial communities interference of the oil industry, in Areia Branca-RN and Paracuru-CE was observed that oil is a determinant of microbial diversity. Fortim-CE probably has no direct influence with the oil activity. In order to obtain data for better understanding the transport and biodegradation of HPA's, there were conducted in silico studies with modeling and simulation from obtaining 3-D models of proteins involved in the degradation of phenanthrene in the transport of HPA's and also getting the 3-D model of the enzyme PcaF used as molecular marker in this study. Maracatus Solar e Reis de Paus: tradição e modernidade no carnaval de rua em Fortaleza

This is an ethnographic and comparative study of the Maracatus Solar (2006) and Reis de Paus (1960), whose aim was to verify what is ancient and traditional in the new maracatu practiced by the guild Solar and conversely, what is new or modern in the old maracatu ritualized by guild Reis de Paus. It is worth noting that through this case study it is also intended to ethnographically observe and better understand the processes of ruptures and continuities between modernization and tradition, and the relationship between the global and the local. The communication system, the dancing, the music, the costumes and the loas (letters) were analyzed using the technique of participant observation as well as secondary materials such as newspapers, blogs and magazines. The interviews were open, non-directive, but recorded to facilitate understanding the speech of revelers. The research has shown that all the symbolic elements of aesthetic expression of the maracatu are permeated by clashes of historical contexts and of political representation, which, in another instance, also enunciates a fight of micro-community resistance regarding the renewal process and the social development that plague modern megalopolis. It is In this interim, between modernity and tradition that today it can be spoken about the existence of hybrid identity in the maracatu regarding a context mediated by the overall above mentioned values and customs specific of the new generations. However, one can not deny that the forms of negotiations with modernity also require the establishment of a link with the specific singularity of a popular culture that is not excluded, but also should not get invaded by the idea of authenticity. Therefore, performing this study was above all an opportunity to understand also the community life in the city outskirts, understanding society, culture and everyday social relations maintained between humans that produce and make it all happen. The Solar and Reis de Paus do not join in opposition between themselves nor by their similarity. What is most striking among them is the renewal of a tradition that reinvents itself in the form of popular representation across the street parade

Adrien-Marie Legendre (1752-1833) e suas obras em Teoria dos Números

The present thesis is an analysis of Adrien-Marie Legendre s works on Number Theory, with a certain emphasis on his 1830 edition of Theory of Numbers. The role played by these works in their historical context and their influence on the development of Number Theory was investigated. A biographic study of Legendre (1752-1833) was undertaken, in which both his personal relations and his scientific productions were related to certain historical elements of the development of both his homeland, France, and the sciences in general, during the 18th and 19th centuries This study revealed notable characteristics of his personality, as well as his attitudes toward his mathematical contemporaries, especially with regard to his seemingly incessant quarrels with Gauss about the priority of various of their scientific discoveries. This is followed by a systematic study of Lagrange s work on Number Theory, including a comparative reading of certain topics, especially that of his renowned law of quadratic reciprocity, with texts of some of his contemporaries. In this way, the dynamics of the evolution of his thought in relation to his semantics, the organization of his demonstrations and his number theoretical discoveries was delimited. Finally, the impact of Legendre s work on Number Theory on the French mathematical community of the time was investigated. This investigation revealed that he not only made substantial contributions to this branch of Mathematics, but also inspired other mathematicians to advance this science even further. This indeed is a fitting legacy for his Theory of Numbers, the first modern text on Higher Arithmetic, on which he labored half his life, producing various editions. Nevertheless, Legendre also received many posthumous honors, including having his name perpetuated on the Trocad��ro face of the Eiffel Tower, which contains a list of 72 eminent scientists, and having a street and an alley in Paris named after him

Mapeamento robótico 2,5-D com representação em grade de ocupação-elevação

This work introduces a new method for environment mapping with three-dimensional information from visual information for robotic accurate navigation. Many approaches of 3D mapping using occupancy grid typically requires high computacional effort to both build and store the map. We introduce an 2.5-D occupancy-elevation grid mapping, which is a discrete mapping approach, where each cell stores the occupancy probability, the height of the terrain at current place in the environment and the variance of this height. This 2.5-dimensional representation allows that a mobile robot to know whether a place in the environment is occupied by an obstacle and the height of this obstacle, thus, it can decide if is possible to traverse the obstacle. Sensorial informations necessary to construct the map is provided by a stereo vision system, which has been modeled with a robust probabilistic approach, considering the noise present in the stereo processing. The resulting maps favors the execution of tasks like decision making in the autonomous navigation, exploration, localization and path planning. Experiments carried out with a real mobile robots demonstrates that this proposed approach yields useful maps for robot autonomous navigation

A experiência da criança com a droga :características do uso e circunstâncias familiares

The study is a reflexion of the use of drugs among children, pointing that as one of the most serious social problem nowadays. Customize the abuse of drugs reflecting on the childhood and the family s influence of the problem of the children that use drugs, is the main objective of this thesis. Choosing the qualitative method of research, the investigation starts with the reports of the children and mothers assisted at Centro de Referência e Apoio à Criança e ao Adolescente Usuários de Drogas, program of specialized assistance of 1ª Vara da Infância e da Juventude de Natal/RN. The research was done through semi-structured interviews, in a total of six subjects: three children and their respective mothers. Through the reports of the subjects, it is brought theorical reflexions that illustrates their perceptions and conceptions about topics like the usage of drugs, the circumstances the usage of drugs was started, the family s structure and dynamic, the situation on the streets, and other factors that affect the development of a child in her/his environment. It is proved that the usage of drugs in Brazil, problem that has been increasing the number of children affected by, is a multi faceted and complex phenomenon but some factors of social and family risks deserve to be pointed out like the manner of support future actions in the prevention area

As Faces e os Disfaces da Informalidade no Capitalismo Conteporâneo: Um Estudo do Comércio de Rua em Pau dos Ferros/RN

This paper discusses the expression of informality in contemporary capitalism. Thematic of relevance to the analysis of the reality of work today and the logic that moves the capital, its real presence in the lives of individuals. The street trading of Pau dos Ferros town, popularly known as "street market" was chosen as the search space. The main objective is to seize and examine the articulations and logic, present in the configuration of the street trading of this city, located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, explaining the functionality of informality for capitalist accumulation, but also for the reproduction of segments of the working class. Our analysis is based in the perspective of totality, trying to grasp the historical determinations of the phenomenon in focus. It includes the analysis of the mechanisms used by the capital to reproduce itself in the current historical context, which has been implicated in the composition of the labor markets of different countries and in various forms of exploitation to which workers in general are subject. It also means discussing the development of capitalism in Brazil, the logic that permeates its dependence, and especially the use of over-exploitation of labor, as a lever for internal accumulation. The course of investigation consisted of theoretical research to form the basis of theoretical and methodological analysis and to outline the context in which our research object is inserted, and field research conducted in two phases: systematic observation, which allowed to map traders features and the infrastructure of commerce, and the conduction of interviews with key informants. The material collected was scrutinized according to analytical scheme inspired by the content analysis. Among the main considerations developed from the research process we include: the street trading of Pau dos Ferros remains shrouded in the majority sale of agricultural products, this demonstrates the structural characteristics of the region. However, the supply of this product is no longer restricted to the excess of small local producers. The presence of the dealer changed the distribution of the product, streamlining it. In parallel, business practices are developed, practices in which traded goods (industrial) reflect the moment of capitalist restoration, a larger business network. The reflections also made it possible to show that street trading follows developing on the basis of informal work, which gains functionality to the system, as it is configured as a space commonly used to drain part of the production, of industries (clothing/shoes), especially if the distribution is considered as an essential element of the complex process that aims at capital appreciation. This activity has been functioning as a place of employment and income generation for the subjects who are away from formal employment, masking, this way, unemployment, moreover, they allow them to continue as consumers. Such expressions reflect the ability and the logic of capital to expand and aggregate into so many realities. It is underway today, the logic that has led many workers to join the project of domination of capital, by the illusory chance to become capitalists.
