Work : A poetics of endurance within the viscous solo

This project developed a new approach to movement practice and performance through a solo performance that used physical paradigms of endurance and work to integrate the normally divergent movement practices of contemporary dance, circus and improvisation. This work contributes to developing dance and movement curricula relevant to contemporary hybrid aesthetics.

Polities and poetics: a ‘place’ for reconciliation

The thesis analysed the ways in which Australian literature written between 1990 - 2010 has informed concepts of Indigenous and non-Indigenous reconciliation. There is a ‘place’ for reconciliation in postcolonial Australia, and literature is one such ‘place’, with its ability to construct, incorporate and promote postcolonial race relations through reimaginings of history, place, bodies and the sacred.

The material poetics of Fabien Bürgy: reflections on spikes

Fabien Bürgy’s work creates interstitions in which the virtual becomes indistinguishable from the real, and the real becomes impregnated with the virtual. Spikes is a sculptureinstallation that exists in a threshold in which matter becomes digital and the digital becomes matter. This review addresses the many conceptual layers particular to this artwork, and wishes to preserve the aura of inscrutability that belongs to its poetics.

Reframing the turn: toward an ethical poetics of eco-elegy & The Counterpart (an excerpted novel)

 This practice-led thesis, comprising of an excerpted literary novel and an extended theoretical essay, explores the relations between ethics, elegy and ecology, and proposes a framework for rethinking an ethical poetics of eco-elegy.
