A atual configuração do mundo do trabalho caracteriza-se pela complexidade e intensificação dos riscos à saúde do trabalhador. A presente tese aborda trabalho e saúde a partir do referencial da psicodinâmica de Dejours, privilegiando a categoria prazer-sofrimento, no contexto do trabalho com automação no Pólo Industrial de Manaus - PIM. Visando situar os aspectos macroeconômicos, apresenta-se a condição sócio-econômica dos operadores e o contexto da reestruturação produtiva do PIM, que se caracterizou por intensificação da automação. O objetivo dessa pesquisa foi analisar a organização de trabalho com automação e seus desdobramentos sobre a saúde dos operadores e das operadoras de máquina de inserção automática, focalizando o prazer-sofrimento e seus reflexos sobre o processo de saúde-adoecimento. Elegeu-se a abordagem qualitativa, em consonância com a fundamentação teórico-metodológica de Dejours. A pesquisa empírica foi realizada na área de inserção automática das duas empresas de origem japonesa, de grande porte, do segmento eletroeletrônico do PIM. Participaram como sujeitos 21 operadores de máquinas (dez de uma e onze de outra empresa). A principal fonte de dados foi a fala dos sujeitos, que responderam a uma entrevista individual semi-estruturada. Para a análise de dados foi realizada uma articulação da sistemática da Grounded Theory à base psicodinâmica, como opção de técnica qualitatativa adequada a entrevistas individuais. A preocupação com a “qualidade” se destacou como categoria central, mostrando-se presente em todas as esferas da organização de trabalho e modulando a vivência de prazer-sofrimento: dentre as principais fontes de prazer, realizar o trabalho com perfeição foi reiteradamente mencionado; em contrapartida, o medo de errar é uma das principais fontes de sofrimento, causa permanente de tensão, agravante do risco de adoecimento. O prazer provém da identificação com a tarefa de operar máquinas, de alta tecnologia, sem cometer erros; aprender mais e dominar a “tecnologia de ponta” é uma fonte de mobilização subjetiva. O sofrimento decorre da sobrecarga de trabalho, mal remunerado, sob intensa pressão por “qualidade”. Para suportar o sofrimento, os trabalhadores constroem estratégias coletivas de defesa: usam gracejos direcionados aos colegas que cometem erros, interpretados como recurso para reduzir o sofrimento originário do medo de falhar. Utilizam ainda grande diversidade de estratégias individuais de defesa, reflexo do individualismo. O reconhecimento, considerado na psicodinâmica como via privilegiada para a ressignificação do sofrimento, é pouco presente: menos de metade dos operadores se considera devidamente reconhecido por seu trabalho; mencionam os baixos salários como evidência da falta de reconhecimento. Em uma das empresas também falta o reconhecimento simbólico, agravando o sofrimento. O predomínio do sofrimento sobre o prazer no trabalho conduz a um desequilíbrio que resulta no uso exacerbado de defesas: manifestam-se as patologias sociais do trabalho, dentre as quais foi identificada a patologia da sobrecarga, relacionada à carga excessiva de trabalho que é importa aos operadores e às operadoras, pois à aquisição de máquinas corresponde a redução de pessoas. O sofrimento no trabalho, no PIM, está sendo intensificado com a automação, inserida no contexto de super-exploração do trabalho, integrante da organização flexível do capital.

Mastering reading and writing brings itself social, cultural political, economic, cognitive and linguistic consequences to the learner. Soon, those who do not acquire that knowledge are excluded from the sphere of literate society. Considering this, the objective of this study was to discuss the relation between learning to read and write and in this sense, think about academic performance of students/ children, and to discusses the conceptual advances in literacy area of the permanent necessity to transport them to the teaching practice starting with questions about knowledge, attitudes and pedagogical interventions necessary for literacy teachers and that can serve as a basis for directing the training processes of teachers and to a better understanding of school performance.

Rehabilitation of edentulous patients has been a challenge for professionals since the primary concepts and fundaments of occlusal rehabilitation. However, this philosophy has been improved by implant-supported fixed dentures that represent a predictable clinical modality on modern dentistry. Nevertheless, considering that the traditional protocol requires a long period for bone healing and definitive rehabilitation, immediate loading of implants has been advantageous for functional and esthetic rehabilitation of patients in a reduced period. The aim of this study is to discuss the biomechanical and functional fundaments of occlusion for implant-supported fixed dentures with mediate and immediate loading to provide clinical evidences for longevity of this treat ment modality based on the current literature. According to this, some prerequisites as proper bone quality, excellent primary stability, sufficient number of implants, rigid splinting, and control and mastering of biomechanical fundamentals of static and dynamic occlusion are mandatory for treatment predictability and longevity.

The purpose of this study is to determine if students solve math problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division consistently and whether students transfer these skills to other mathematical situations and solutions. In this action research study, a classroom of 6th grade mathematics students was used to investigate how students solve word problems and how they determine which mathematical approach to use to solve a problem. It was discovered that many of the students read and re-read a question before they try to find an answer. Most students will check their answer to determine if it is correct and makes sense. Most students agree that mastering basic math facts is very important for problem solving and prefer mathematics that does not focus on problem solving. As a result of this research, it will be emphasized to the building principal and staff the need for a unified and focused curriculum with a scope and sequence for delivery that is consistently followed. The importance of managing basic math skills and making sure each student is challenged to be a mathematical thinker will be stressed.

This study aims at analysing Brian O'Nolans literary production in the light of a reconsideration of the role played by his two most famous pseudonyms ,Flann Brien and Myles na Gopaleen, behind which he was active both as a novelist and as a journalist. We tried to establish a new kind of relationship between them and their empirical author following recent cultural and scientific surveys in the field of Humour Studies, Psychology, and Sociology: taking as a starting point the appreciation of the comic attitude in nature and in cultural history, we progressed through a short history of laughter and derision, followed by an overview on humour theories. After having established such a frame, we considered an integration of scientific studies in the field of laughter and humour as a base for our study scheme, in order to come to a definition of the comic author as a recognised, powerful and authoritative social figure who acts as a critic of conventions. The history of laughter and comic we briefly summarized, based on the one related by the French scholar Georges Minois in his work (Minois 2004), has been taken into account in the view that humorous attitude is one of man’s characteristic traits always present and witnessed throughout the ages, though subject in most cases to repression by cultural and political conservative power. This sort of Super-Ego notwithstanding, or perhaps because of that, comic impulse proved irreducible exactly in its influence on the current cultural debates. Basing mainly on Robert R. Provine’s (Provine 2001), Fabio Ceccarelli’s (Ceccarelli 1988), Arthur Koestler’s (Koestler 1975) and Peter L. Berger’s (Berger 1995) scientific essays on the actual occurrence of laughter and smile in complex social situations, we underlined the many evidences for how the use of comic, humour and wit (in a Freudian sense) could be best comprehended if seen as a common mind process designed for the improvement of knowledge, in which we traced a strict relation with the play-element the Dutch historian Huizinga highlighted in his famous essay, Homo Ludens (Huizinga 1955). We considered comic and humour/wit as different sides of the same coin, and showed how the demonstrations scientists provided on this particular subject are not conclusive, given that the mental processes could not still be irrefutably shown to be separated as regards graduations in comic expression and reception: in fact, different outputs in expressions might lead back to one and the same production process, following the general ‘Economy Rule’ of evolution; man is the only animal who lies, meaning with this that one feeling is not necessarily biuniquely associated with one and the same outward display, so human expressions are not validation proofs for feelings. Considering societies, we found that in nature they are all organized in more or less the same way, that is, in élites who govern over a community who, in turn, recognizes them as legitimate delegates for that task; we inferred from this the epistemological possibility for the existence of an added ruling figure alongside those political and religious: this figure being the comic, who is the person in charge of expressing true feelings towards given subjects of contention. Any community owns one, and his very peculiar status is validated by the fact that his place is within the community, living in it and speaking to it, but at the same time is outside it in the sense that his action focuses mainly on shedding light on ideas and objects placed out-side the boundaries of social convention: taboos, fears, sacred objects and finally culture are the favourite targets of the comic person’s arrow. This is the reason for the word a(rche)typical as applied to the comic figure in society: atypical in a sense, because unconventional and disrespectful of traditions, critical and never at ease with unblinkered respect of canons; archetypical, because the “village fool”, buffoon, jester or anyone in any kind of society who plays such roles, is an archetype in the Jungian sense, i.e. a personification of an irreducible side of human nature that everybody instinctively knows: a beginner of a tradition, the perfect type, what is most conventional of all and therefore the exact opposite of an atypical. There is an intrinsic necessity, we think, of such figures in societies, just like politicians and priests, who should play an elitist role in order to guide and rule not for their own benefit but for the good of the community. We are not naïve and do know that actual owners of power always tend to keep it indefinitely: the ‘social comic’ as a role of power has nonetheless the distinctive feature of being the only job whose tension is not towards stability. It has got in itself the rewarding permission of contradiction, for the very reason we exposed before that the comic must cast an eye both inside and outside society and his vision may be perforce not consistent, then it is satisfactory for the popularity that gives amongst readers and audience. Finally, the difference between governors, priests and comic figures is the seriousness of the first two (fundamentally monologic) and the merry contradiction of the third (essentially dialogic). MPs, mayors, bishops and pastors should always console, comfort and soothe popular mood in respect of the public convention; the comic has the opposite task of provoking, urging and irritating, accomplishing at the same time a sort of control of the soothing powers of society, keepers of the righteousness. In this view, the comic person assumes a paramount importance in the counterbalancing of power administration, whether in form of acting in public places or in written pieces which could circulate for private reading. At this point comes into question our Irish writer Brian O'Nolan(1911-1966), real name that stood behind the more famous masks of Flann O'Brien, novelist, author of At Swim-Two-Birds (1939), The Hard Life (1961), The Dalkey Archive (1964) and, posthumously, The Third Policeman (1967); and of Myles na Gopaleen, journalist, keeper for more than 25 years of the Cruiskeen Lawn column on The Irish Times (1940-1966), and author of the famous book-parody in Irish An Béal Bocht (1941), later translated in English as The Poor Mouth (1973). Brian O'Nolan, professional senior civil servant of the Republic, has never seen recognized his authorship in literary studies, since all of them concentrated on his alter egos Flann, Myles and some others he used for minor contributions. So far as we are concerned, we think this is the first study which places the real name in the title, this way acknowledging him an unity of intents that no-one before did. And this choice in titling is not a mere mark of distinction for the sake of it, but also a wilful sign of how his opus should now be reconsidered. In effect, the aim of this study is exactly that of demonstrating how the empirical author Brian O'Nolan was the real Deus in machina, the master of puppets who skilfully directed all of his identities in planned directions, so as to completely fulfil the role of the comic figure we explained before. Flann O'Brien and Myles na Gopaleen were personae and not persons, but the impression one gets from the critical studies on them is the exact opposite. Literary consideration, that came only after O'Nolans death, began with Anne Clissmann’s work, Flann O'Brien: A Critical Introduction to His Writings (Clissmann 1975), while the most recent book is Keith Donohue’s The Irish Anatomist: A Study of Flann O'Brien (Donohue 2002); passing through M.Keith Booker’s Flann O'Brien, Bakhtin and Menippean Satire (Booker 1995), Keith Hopper’s Flann O'Brien: A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Post-Modernist (Hopper 1995) and Monique Gallagher’s Flann O'Brien, Myles et les autres (Gallagher 1998). There have also been a couple of biographies, which incidentally somehow try to explain critical points his literary production, while many critical studies do the same on the opposite side, trying to found critical points of view on the author’s restless life and habits. At this stage, we attempted to merge into O'Nolan's corpus the journalistic articles he wrote, more than 4,200, for roughly two million words in the 26-year-old running of the column. To justify this, we appealed to several considerations about the figure O'Nolan used as writer: Myles na Gopaleen (later simplified in na Gopaleen), who was the equivalent of the street artist or storyteller, speaking to his imaginary public and trying to involve it in his stories, quarrels and debates of all kinds. First of all, he relied much on language for the reactions he would obtain, playing on, and with, words so as to ironically unmask untrue relationships between words and things. Secondly, he pushed to the limit the convention of addressing to spectators and listeners usually employed in live performing, stretching its role in the written discourse to come to a greater effect of involvement of readers. Lastly, he profited much from what we labelled his “specific weight”, i.e. the potential influence in society given by his recognised authority in determined matters, a position from which he could launch deeper attacks on conventional beliefs, so complying with the duty of a comic we hypothesised before: that of criticising society even in threat of losing the benefits the post guarantees. That seemingly masochistic tendency has its rationale. Every representative has many privileges on the assumption that he, or she, has great responsibilities in administrating. The higher those responsibilities are, the higher is the reward but also the severer is the punishment for the misfits done while in charge. But we all know that not everybody accepts the rules and many try to use their power for their personal benefit and do not want to undergo law’s penalties. The comic, showing in this case more civic sense than others, helped very much in this by the non-accessibility to the use of public force, finds in the role of the scapegoat the right accomplishment of his task, accepting the punishment when his breaking of the conventions is too stark to be forgiven. As Ceccarelli demonstrated, the role of the object of laughter (comic, ridicule) has its very own positive side: there is freedom of expression for the person, and at the same time integration in the society, even though at low levels. Then the banishment of a ‘social’ comic can never get to total extirpation from society, revealing how the scope of the comic lies on an entirely fictional layer, bearing no relation with facts, nor real consequences in terms of physical health. Myles na Gopaleen, mastering these three characteristics we postulated in the highest way, can be considered an author worth noting; and the oeuvre he wrote, the whole collection of Cruiskeen Lawn articles, is rightfully a novel because respects the canons of it especially regarding the authorial figure and his relationship with the readers. In addition, his work can be studied even if we cannot conduct our research on the whole of it, this proceeding being justified exactly because of the resemblances to the real figure of the storyteller: its ‘chapters’ —the daily articles— had a format that even the distracted reader could follow, even one who did not read each and every article before. So we can critically consider also a good part of them, as collected in the seven volumes published so far, with the addition of some others outside the collections, because completeness in this case is not at all a guarantee of a better precision in the assessment; on the contrary: examination of the totality of articles might let us consider him as a person and not a persona. Once cleared these points, we proceeded further in considering tout court the works of Brian O'Nolan as the works of a unique author, rather than complicating the references with many names which are none other than well-wrought sides of the same personality. By putting O'Nolan as the correct object of our research, empirical author of the works of the personae Flann O'Brien and Myles na Gopaleen, there comes out a clearer literary landscape: the comic author Brian O'Nolan, self-conscious of his paramount role in society as both a guide and a scourge, in a word as an a(rche)typical, intentionally chose to differentiate his personalities so as to create different perspectives in different fields of knowledge by using, in addition, different means of communication: novels and journalism. We finally compared the newly assessed author Brian O'Nolan with other great Irish comic writers in English, such as James Joyce (the one everybody named as the master in the field), Samuel Beckett, and Jonathan Swift. This comparison showed once more how O'Nolan is in no way inferior to these authors who, greatly celebrated by critics, have nonetheless failed to achieve that great public recognition O’Nolan received alias Myles, awarded by the daily audience he reached and influenced with his Cruiskeen Lawn column. For this reason, we believe him to be representative of the comic figure’s function as a social regulator and as a builder of solidarity, such as that Raymond Williams spoke of in his work (Williams 1982), with in mind the aim of building a ‘culture in common’. There is no way for a ‘culture in common’ to be acquired if we do not accept the fact that even the most functional society rests on conventions, and in a world more and more ‘connected’ we need someone to help everybody negotiate with different cultures and persons. The comic gives us a worldly perspective which is at the same time comfortable and distressing but in the end not harmful as the one furnished by politicians could be: he lets us peep into parallel worlds without moving too far from our armchair and, as a consequence, is the one who does his best for the improvement of our understanding of things.

The collapse of the Soviet Union at the beginning of the 1990s also meant the end of the idea of a common soviet identity incarnated in the "soviet man" and the new "historic community of the soviet people". While this idea still lives on in the generations of the 1920s to 1940s, the younger generations tend to prefer identification with family, profession, ethnic group or religion. Ms. Alexakhina set out to investigate different interethnic interaction strategies in the multi-ethnic context of the Russian Federation, with an emphasis on analysing the role of cultural and ethno-demographic characteristics of minority ethnic groups. It aimed to identify those specific patterns of interaction dynamics that have emerged in response to the political and economic transformation at present under way. The basic supposition was that the size and growth of an ethnic population are defined not only by demographic features such as fertility, mortality and net migration, but are also dependent on processes interethnic interaction and ethnic transition. The central hypothesis of the project was that the multi-ethnic and multi-cultural composition of Russia is apparently manifesting itself in the ethnic minority groups in various forms, but particularly in the form of ethnic revival and/or assimilation. The results of these complex phenomena are manifested as changes in ethnic attachments (national re-identification and language behaviour (multi-lingualism, language transition and loss of the mother tongue). The stress of the political and economic crisis has stimulated significant changes in ethnographic, social and cultural characteristics of inter-ethnic dynamics such as the rate of national re-identification, language behaviour, migration activity and the spread of mixed marriages, among both those minorities with a long history of settlement in Russia and those that were annexed during the soviet period. Patterns of language behaviour and the spread of mixed marriages were taken as the main indicators of the directions of interethnic interaction described as assimilation, ethnic revival and cultural pluralism. The first stage of the research involved a statistical analysis of census data from 1959 to 1994 in order to analyse the changing demographic composition of the largest ethnic groups of the Russian Federation. Until 1989 interethnic interaction in soviet society was distinguished by the process of russification but the political and economic transformation has stimulated the process of ethnic revival, leading to an apparent fall in the size of the Russian population due to ethnic re-identification by members of other ethnic groups who had previously identified themselves as Russian. Cross-classification of nationalities by demographic, social and cultural indicators has shown that the most important determinants of the nature of interethnic interaction are cultural factors such as religion and language affiliation. The analysis of the dynamics of language shift through the study of bilingualism and the domains of language usage for different demographic groups revealed a strong correlation between recognition of Russian as a mother tongue among some non-Russian ethnic groups and the declining size of these groups. The main conclusion from this macro-analysis of census data was the hypothesis of the growing importance of social and political factors upon ethnic succession, that ethnic identity is no longer a stable characteristic but has become dynamic in nature. In order to verify this hypothesis Ms. Alexakhina conducted a survey in four regions showing different patterns of interethnic interaction: the Karelian Republic, Buryatiya, the Nenezkii Autonomous Region and Tatarstan. These represented the west, east, north and south of the Russian Federation. Samples for the survey were prepared on the basis of census lists so as to exclude mono-Russian families in favour of mixed and ethnic-minority families. The survey confirmed the significant growth in the importance of ethnic affiliation in the everyday lives of people in the Federation following the de-centralisation of the political and economic spheres. Language was shown to be a key symbol of the consciousness of national distinction, confirmed by the fact that the process of russification has been reversed by the active mastering of the languages of titular nationalities. The results also confirmed that individual ethnic identity has ceased to be a fixed personal characteristic of one's cultural and genetic belonging, and people's social adaptation to the current political, social and economic conditions is also demonstrated in changes in individual ethnic self-identification. In general terms, the dynamic nature of national identity means that ethnic identity is at present acquiring the special features of overall social identity, for which the frequent change of priorities is an inherent feature of a person's life cycle. These are mainly linked with a multi-ethnic environment and high individual social mobility. From her results Ms. Alexakhina concludes that the development of national languages and multi-lingualism, together with the preservation of Russian as a state language, seems to be the most promising path to peaceful coexistence and the development of the national cultures of different ethnic groups within the Russian Federation.

Community work and development - Now, that market economy is no longer faced with territorial boundaries, the spheres of life within the limits of local communities are gaining new importance in terms of sustained patterns of development. This extended meaning of local community as a place for mastering the challenges of life and as a framework for developing future-oriented solutions to social, ecological and economic problems, corresponds to the extended meaning of community-based social work as an effort to shape social life and generate social change. Community-economy follows the original sense of human economy, defined by Aristotle. It is the idea of the “oikos”, an economy for the satisfaction of needs of the “whole house” - of the young and the old, the healthy and sick, of the living and future generations and the not-human world. In this sense “oikonomia” means household management.

To perform Quantum Key Distribution, the mastering of the extremely weak signals carried by the quantum channel is required. Transporting these signals without disturbance is customarily done by isolating the quantum channel from any noise sources using a dedicated physical channel. However, to really profit from this technology, a full integration with conventional network technologies would be highly desirable. Trying to use single photon signals with others that carry an average power many orders of magnitude bigger while sharing as much infrastructure with a conventional network as possible brings obvious problems. The purpose of the present paper is to report our efforts in researching the limits of the integration of QKD in modern optical networks scenarios. We have built a full metropolitan area network testbed comprising a backbone and an access network. The emphasis is put in using as much as possible the same industrial grade technology that is actually used in already installed networks, in order to understand the throughput, limits and cost of deploying QKD in a real network.

As wafer-based solar cells become thinner, light-trapping textures for absorption enhancement will gain in importance. In this work, crystalline silicon wafers were textured with wavelength-scale diffraction grating surface textures by nanoimprint lithography using interference lithography as a mastering technology. This technique allows fine-tailored nanostructures to be realized on large areas with high throughput. Solar cell precursors were fabricated, with the surface textures on the rear side, for optical absorption measurements. Large absorption enhancements are observed in the wavelength range in which the silicon wafer absorbs weakly. It is shown experimentally that bi-periodic crossed gratings perform better than uni-periodic linear gratings. Optical simulations have been made of the fabricated structures, allowing the total absorption to be decomposed into useful absorption in the silicon and parasitic absorption in the rear reflector. Using the calculated silicon absorption, promising absorbed photocurrent density enhancements have been calculated for solar cells employing the nano-textures. Finally, first results are presented of a passivation layer deposition technique that planarizes the rear reflector for the purpose of reducing the parasitic absorption.

Light trapping is becoming of increasing importance in crystalline silicon solar cells as thinner wafers are used to reduce costs. In this work, we report on light trapping by rear-side diffraction gratings produced by nano-imprint lithography using interference lithography as the mastering technology. Gratings fabricated on crystalline silicon wafers are shown to provide significant absorption enhancements. Through a combination of optical measurement and simulation, it is shown that the crossed grating provides better absorption enhancement than the linear grating, and that the parasitic reflector absorption is reduced by planarizing the rear reflector, leading to an increase in the useful absorption in the silicon. Finally, electro-optical simulations are performed of solar cells employing the fabricated grating structures to estimate efficiency enhancement potential.

Since the beginning of the smartphones in the 80s, the mobile device market has grown and evolved towards devices connected everywhere, with hardware more and more close to computers and laptops than a classic mobile telephone. Nowadays, this market seems to be crowded and some companies seem not to know exactly which step is next. In this manner, a concept appears in the market as a solution or a difficulty to overcome: the dominant design. The thesis aims to establish an analysis and definition of what a dominant design is and how we should understand this concept: which are the costumers’ demands and needs? How can we relate this information with the dominant design? What is the strategy of the firm before designing a device? Do they use a concept similar to a dominant design?. The research base its analysis in a theoretical framework based in innovation and marketing literature, to then compare the model studied with data collected from surveys made to customers, interviews made to workers of the mobile device market, and different new projects on the market. The research finishes with a discussion about the theoretical and the empirical frameworks, and concludes replying the research questions, and defining a dominant design and its current situation in the market. Desde la aparición de los Smartphones en los años 80, el mercado de los dispositivos móviles ha crecido y evolucionado hacia dispositivos cada vez más conectados, con hardware cada vez más cercano a los ordenadores de sobremesa y portátiles que al clásico teléfono móvil. A día de hoy, el mercado está saturado y algunas compañías parecen dubitativas ante el próximo paso a seguir. De esta manera, el concepto del diseño dominante aparece en el mercado como una solución a esta dificultad. El primer capítulo de este estudio se centra en establecer, a modo de introducción, los antecedentes al caso a estudiar, el objetivo de la tesis con sus limitaciones y delimitaciones, así como la metodología utilizada. También se plantean las preguntas principales (Research Questions) sobre el objetivo de la tesis, las cuales darán respuesta en la conclusión final al caso de estudio. Este proyecto tiene como objetivo establecer un análisis y definición sobre que es un diseño dominante y qué deberíamos entender como tal: ¿cuáles son las necesidades y las exigencias de los clientes? ¿Cómo se puede relacionar esta información con el diseño dominante en el sector tecnológico? ¿Cuáles son las estrategias de las empresas antes de diseñar un nuevo dispositivo? ¿Usan un concepto o modelos similares a un diseño dominante? Posteriormente, el segundo capítulo expone la bibliografía utilizada, y el enfoque analítico que se llevará a cabo con las 3 principales fuentes de datos. La investigación enfoca su análisis en un marco teórico, basado en publicaciones y bibliografía relacionadas con la innovación y el marketing, para luego comparar el modelo estudiado con un marco empírico: datos obtenidos de encuestas a consumidores, entrevistas a profesionales del sector de los dispositivos móviles, y diferentes prototipos y nuevos proyectos en este mercado. Entre esta literatura se encuentran manuales de marketing como “22 Immutable laws of Marketing” (de Al Ries & Jack Trout), publicaciones sobre el sector industrial de la tecnología y negocios: “Crossing the Chasm” de Geoffrey A. Moore y modelos de innovación entre otros como “Mastering the Dynamics of Innovation” de James M. Utterback. El tercer capítulo corresponde al estudio del marco teórico de la tesis, donde se analizará principalmente el modelo de innovación utilizado (el modelo cíclico de Utterback) y varios principios de marketing aplicados a este sector. Se plantean las bases de este modelo, la definición que el propio Utterback ofrece sobre el diseño dominante, y las 3 fases del proceso del mismo (Fluid Phase, Transitional Phase y Specific Phase), donde las empresas cambian de estrategia según las circunstancias evolutivas del dispositivo, su posición respecto el líder del mercado, o los procesos de estandarización y de costes. Por último se plantea la base para el desarrollo del diseño dominante en un ciclo evolutivo constante en el tiempo. Respecto a la parte más analítica de la tesis, el cuarto capítulo se desarrolla a partir de los datos obtenidos de las fuentes de información en el marco empírico de estudio. Se obtienen conclusiones sobre los datos realizados en ambas encuestas (en Español e Inglés) y sobre la relevancia de esta información; se estudian uno por uno hasta cuatro casos de nuevos dispositivos a corto-medio plazo en el mercado y se obtienen unas conclusiones globales sobre las entrevistas realizadas a los profesionales del sector y la relevancia de todas estas informaciones. En el quinto capítulo de la tesis se desarrolla la discusión en torno a los marcos teórico y empírico utilizados, para concluir respondiendo a las “Research Questions”, definiendo de esta manera el concepto de diseño dominante y comparando esta definición con la situación real del mercado. Se contrastan las bases del modelo de Utterback con los datos obtenidos en el capítulo cuarto, enfatizando la comparación entre las fases de este modelo con la realidad obtenida a través del estudio. Las encuestas realizadas a los consumidores se enmarcan en la segunda y tercera fase del ciclo, donde el desarrollo del diseño dominante ya está establecido y más desarrollado, mientras que las entrevistas unifican varios puntos clave a tener en cuenta en la primera y segunda fases, orientándose a las capas previas del proceso. Después se comparan uno a uno los 4 dispositivos analizados, a fin de establecer su jerarquía dentro del mercado, como posibles nuevos diseños dominantes o evoluciones especializadas de otros que ya aparecieron en el mercado con anterioridad. Así mismo, en esta parte final del estudio se comparan entre sí los resultados similares entre las tres fuentes de datos, y se analiza la veracidad de todas las fuentes consultadas. Finalmente, se han registrado en un sexto capítulo todas las referencias utilizadas en este proyecto, tanto publicaciones bibliográficas, entrevistas, citas de personajes relevantes del sector y enlaces en la red sobre noticias relevantes. En el apartado de apéndices se adjuntan tres anexos, donde se adjunta información utilizada en el caso de estudio, y la cual se ha obviado del texto principal con el objetivo de agilizar la lectura y la comprensión del mismo. Estos tres apéndices corresponden a las dos encuestas realizadas en ambos idiomas y la entrevista realizada a los profesionales del sector de los dispositivos móviles.
