A igreja católica no debate da LDB de 1961: ação, estratégias e manutenção da influência da hierarquia católica através da estrutura do Estado

A presente dissertação trata da atuação da Igreja Católica nos debates sucedidos no processo de formulação e promulgação da primeira Lei de Diretrizes e Bases do Brasil, lei 4.024 de 1961. O objetivo central é discorrer sobre as ações e as estratégias de atuação da Igreja, que lhe permitiram vitórias na aprovação da referida lei, buscando demonstrar que esta vitória não é apenas o fruto de uma luta de treze anos (tempo de tramitação da lei), mas sim de um processo iniciado na década de 1920. Apresenta-se uma pesquisa qualitativa do tipo exploratória explicativa, com pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, que visa explicar o porquê da participação católica na elaboração da primeira LDB. Ao longo dos três capítulos recorre-se a fontes primárias de tipo variado como revista no caso, a revista A Ordem; o Boletim SERVIR; artigos - os analisados para a presente pesquisa estão todos reunidos no livro Indicações Políticas de Alceu Amoroso Lima -; e recorro também, a fontes jurídicas como a Constituição de 1934, a Constituição de 1946, os projetos apresentados ao Congresso em 1948 e em 1958, Diários e Anais do Congresso Nacional, a Lei 4.024 de 1961 a lei de Diretrizes e Base. A metodologia empregada em todas as fontes segue a linha de uma análise de conteúdo, ou seja, com leitura e interpretação de seu teor.

O governo JK nas páginas do Correio da Manhã (1956-1961)

O objetivo desta dissertação é, a partir da análise de editoriais e artigos do Correio da Manhã, no período de 1956 a 1961, discutir as relações entre modernização da imprensa e política, face à persistência do discurso combativo do jornal sobre temas da política nacional. Partindo de estudos, textos e memórias de jornalistas em atividade naquele momento, dentro e fora do Correio da Manhã, procuramos analisar o movimento que atribui sentido à atividade jornalística para que possamos apontar as discussões às quais damos destaque nesse trabalho. A segunda metade dos anos 1950 foi marcada pelo debate do nacional-desenvolvimentismo, associado ao período de governo de Juscelino Kubitschek (1956-1961), o qual foi acompanhado, por sua vez, pela modernização da imprensa, caracterizada pela busca de imparcialidade do discurso, por mudanças editoriais e pelo melhoramento gráfico. Articulando a análise dos textos de imprensa às modificações vividas no Brasil, apontamos para a impossibilidade de considerar ideologia, técnica, profissionalização e disciplina como termos contraditórios, de acordo com os sentidos que assumiram no período.

Tenth Annual Report for the year ended the 31st March, 1961

This is the tenth Annual report of the Cumberland River Board on information of its activities and responsibilities on river management in its area between the beginning of April 1960, to the end of March 1961. The report contains 5 main sections on water resources, land drainage, fisheries, pollution, and finally the expenditure and income for the 12 month period. The first area that the report deals with is water resources, which includes information on the completion of gauging stations on the River Derwent and Eamont, and the building of a similar station on the River Esk. It also gives information on rainfall and river flow. The section on land drainage looks at work on improvement schemes and information on maintenance work carried out on rivers including Wampool, Waver, Wiza, Ellen, Cocker, Irt, Annas, Mite, Ehen, Marron, Eden, Caldew and Petteril. The fisheries section covers 5 districts of the River Eden, Esk, Derwent, Ellen and South West Cumberland. It includes angling information and a general report for salmon and sea trout, brown trout and freshwater fish. Fish disease and fish hatchery are also covered as well as re-stocking and fisheries protection. The fourth section on pollution deals with water quality and information on sewage and trade effluents. The River Boards preceded the Environment Agency which came into existence in 1996.

Dendroclimatic reconstructions of temperature, precipitation, and pressure patterns over the western and central USA, 1602-1961 [abstract]

EXTRACT (SEE PDF FOR FULL ABSTRACT): Verified reconstructions of seasonal temperature, precipitation and sea-level pressure over North America and the North Pacific have been derived from 65 arid-site tree-ring chronologies in the North American West. Significant reconstructions were obtained for temperature for wide areas in the West and mid-continent. Precipitation reconstructions were significant only in the West, and pressure was reconstructed over wide areas of the North Pacific Ocean and the North American continent.

A study on the trend of sports fishery of Mafia Island (Tanzania) along the East African coast from 1961-1972

Mafia waters in the western Indian Ocean on the east coast of Africa is a natural attractive area for fishing. It has extensive coral beds which harbour good fish life and attracts sport fishery in the area. About 12 commercially important fishes listed are caught by sports fishermen. The data indicates that this area can become an attractive centre for sports fishery almost throughout the year with peak season from November to February. Long-term planning of the fishery is necessary. The conservation measures should be evolved and gan fishing, dynamiting or any other kind of distructive fishing should be prohibited. This area has natural potential to become a sports fishing centre in the future and a great attraction for tourists and anglers.

On the troll line investigations off Cochin during five fishing seasons. Pt. 1. Investigations during 1960-61 and 1961-62 seasons

There is apparently great scope for improvement of the design and operational aspects of the gear particularly for the effective exploitation of seasonal fisheries like that of seer, tuna, barracuda etc. In order to evolve improved, yet cheap trolling gear regular investigations were undertaken by the Craft & Gear Wing of the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, off Cochin for five fishing seasons and the results of these studies are incorporated in this paper.

Annual Report of the East African Agricultural and Fisheries Research Council, 1961

In June, 1961, discussions were held in London to consider the future of the East Africa High Commission Services. It was agreed that the functions of the East Africa High Commission, with the exception of Defence, should be transfered to the East African Common Services Organization, which was subsequently established on 9th December, 1961, on the achievement of independence by Tanganyika.
