Temperature investigation of infrared-to-visible frequency upconversion in erbium-doped tellurite glasses excited at 1540 nm

Temperature investigation of infrared-to-visible frequency upconversion in erbium-doped tellurite glasses excited by CW laser radiation at 1540 nm and under cryogenic temperatures is reported. Intense upconversion emission signals around 530, 550 and 660 nm corresponding to the H-2(11/2), S-4(3/2), and F-4(9/2) transitions to the I-4(15/2) ground state were generated and studied as a function of the laser intensity and temperature. The upconversion excitation mechanism of the Er3+ ions emitting energy levels was accomplished via stepwise multiphoton absorption. The green upconversion luminescence exhibited a fivefold intensity enhancement when the temperature of the sample was varied in the range between 5 and 300 K. A maximum green upconversion intensity was attained around 120 K and a steady decreasing behavior for higher temperatures up to 300 K was observed. A model based upon conventional rate equations was used to model the observed temperature evolution of the upconversion luminescence. (C) 2002 Elsevier B.V. B.V. All rights reserved.

As a hybrid genre, the narrative of Carlo Levi is an objective account and subjective elaboration that are equalized in a literary form. Written between 1943 and 1944, the book evokes with an atmosphere of memoir the period of 1935 and 1936, the writer’s exile. The film based on the narration fragmentizes the daily life of the problematic region and highlights the truth aimed by the discourses composed in times of crises, reinforced by action and expression without provincialism and also without a compensating aristocratic pose. It is possible to see some incapacity of the film by Rosi, natural to a certain degree, to translate the synthesis of literary treatment and socio-historical reflection. For this reason it is necessary to read the adaptation as an attitude about the literary matter and the result of historical experience. The memoir character relies on the artifice that makes good use of the book’s opening, the author’s short monologue, its narrative frame. Influence of a Z+(1540) resonance on K+N scattering

The impact of a (I=0, JP=1/2+)Z+(1540) resonance with a width of 5 MeV or more on the K+N(I=0) elastic cross section and on the P01 phase shift is examined within the KN meson-exchange model of the Jülich group. It is shown that the rather strong enhancement of the cross section caused by the presence of a Z + with the above properties is not compatible with the existing empirical information on KN scattering. Only a much narrower Z+ state could be reconciled with the existing data - or, alternatively, the Z + state must lie at an energy much closer to the KN threshold.

This doctoral dissertation faces the debated topic of the traditions of Republicanism in the Modern Age assuming, as a point of view, the problem of the "mixed" government. The research therefore dwells upon the use of this model in Sixteenth-Century Italy, also in connection with the historical events of two standard Republics such as Florence and Venice. The work focuses on Donato Giannotti (1492-1573), Gasparo Contarini (1483-1542) and Paolo Paruta (1540-1598), as the main figures in order to reconstruct the debate on "mixed" constitution: in them, decisive in the attention paid to the peculiar structure of the Venetian Republic, the only of a certain dimension and power to survive after 1530. The research takes into account also the writings of Traiano Boccalini (1556-1613): he himself, though being involved in the same topics of debate, sets for some aspects his considerations in the framework of a new theme, that of Reason of State.

Le Fonti Pubbliche Medioevali a Fermo Restauro e Valorizzazione della Fonte San Francesco di Paola

La tesi inizia con lo studio degli antichi sistemi di adduzione delle acque a Fermo (nel periodo compreso tra l'età romana e l'età medioevale), per poi trattare il tema delle fonti pubbliche medioevali presenti nella città e quelle monumentali esistenti nella regione Marche. Infine si arriva al tema specifico della trattazione, andando ad analizzare la Fonte San Francesco di Paola fino a pervenire al progetto di restauro e di valorizzazione.

Francesco Platone de' Benedetti, il principe dei tipografi bolognesi. Annali tipografici (1482-1496).

This work is focused on the reconstruction of the intellectual biography of Francesco Platone de' Benedetti, prince of the Bologna's printers (1482-1486), that is the same with his typographical outputs. The research had been divided in two parts: the first, with his life, invesitigated by archive documents, and the second part, focused on the census of his editions, with a particular attention to his types. The research on the typographical types had been developed with Adobe Photoshop, that had allowed me to virtually reconstruct the cases of the Gotic and Roman types used by de' Benedetti.

Giovanni Francesco da Rimini Un percorso fra tradizione e rinnovamento nella pittura italiana di metà Quattrocento.

La tesi presenta l’attività di Giovanni Francesco da Rimini, pittore attivo all’incirca dal 1440 al 1470. Analizzando le varie esperienze tra Padova, Perugia, Firenze e Bologna, si ricostruisce un catalogo delle sue opere.

La riunificazione del frammento nell'ex convento di San Francesco. Un centro per la cultura restituito alla città di Mirandola.

Il lavoro svolto si concentra sulla città di Mirandola, dopo il terremoto del 2012. Viene svolto uno studio storico della città, e un'analisi sullo stato di fatto. Riflessioni sul limite tra città contemporanea e città storica. Viene proposta la ricostruzione del segno delle mura come limite, in modo da restituire un'identità alla città. Infine, il progetto si concentra sull'area dell'ex convento di San Francesco, complesso abbandonato dopo il sisma. La volontà è quella di riuscire a restituirlo alla cittadini di Mirandola, come nuovo centro culturale. Il progetto si impegna a mantenere l'esistente, aggiungendo un nuovo volume, che verrà occupata da una sala conferenze e da una parte della biblioteca.
