Sonhos e desvarios: o fantástico em Nodier e Gautier

The short stories of Charles Nodier and Théophile Gautier, respectively “Une Heure ou La Vision” (1806) and “La Morte amoureuse” (1836), while showing elements originating from the Gothic novel, are structured as fantastic narratives, rousing the ambiguity from the themes of dreams and madness. This article tries to highlight the resonances of Gothic literature in the selected short stories, as well as the characteristics which determine the fantastic and define it as a new subgenre in the European Romanticism.

In ogni capitolo, l’atto del ricordare viene indagato nelle diverse valenze che lo mettono in rapporto diretto con la nostalgia e l’oblio. L’analisi dei testi letterari copre un arco di tempo di quasi un secolo, partendo dalle innovazioni tecnico-stilistiche realizzate da Katherine Mansfield fino all’eccezionale ricchezza e al meritato successo di pubblico e critica della scrittrice canadese Alice Munro. La bibliografia dei testi primari e secondari è strutturata con criteri tematici e cronologici.

Grand Theft Auto & Other Stories

Grand Theft Auto & Other Stories is a collection of six linked vignettes and four short stories. The overall theme of the work revolves around the concept of doubt as a destructive force, be it self-doubt or doubt toward others. This work is also about transformation that comes as a result of battling and overcoming doubt. This creative work is introduced by a reflective paper which highlights the writing process, discusses literary influences, and explores the idea of writing as a craft and an art. In its entirety, this project is the culmination of coursework for an advanced degree in liberal studies. This manuscript is a work in progress.
