This research aimed at studying the oxidation process, to verify the effectiveness of coliform inactivation and to evaluate the formation of ozonation disinfection byproducts (DBP) in anoxic sanitary wastewater treated with ozone/hydrogen peroxide applied at doses of 2.6 mg O3 L-1 and 2.0 mg H2O2 L-1 with contact time of 10 min and 8.1 mg O3 L-1 and 8.0 mg H2O2 L-1 with contact time of 20 min. The mean chemical oxygen demand (COD) reductions were 7.50 and 9.40% for applied dosages of 2.5-2.8 and 6.4-9.4 mg O3 L-1 + 2.0 and 8.0 mg H2O2.L-1, respectively. The Escherichia coli (E. coli) inactivation range was 2.98-4.04 log10 and the total coliform inactivation range was 2.77-4.01 log10. The aldehydes investigated were formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, glyoxal and methylglyoxal. It was observed only the formation of acetaldehyde that ranged 5.53 to 29.68 μg L-1.

The cares at the manipulation of the alginate (condensation, disinfection of the impression and the time elapsed until the leak of the plaster) deserve special attention considering the great amount of distortions occurring every time the impression is not fill of plaster in a brief space of time and appropriate storage conditions. Besides its adaptation to the plaster suffers influence of the events happened after the impression is removed of the mouth. The purpose of this research was to evaluate the wetting capacity of three brands of alginate (Jeltrate™,Hydrogum™ e Orthoprint™) by the plaster type III (Rio™) under the influence of disinfection by sodium hypochlorite 1% sprays and the time of storage of 15 minutes,30 minutes, 1 hour, 6, 12 and 24 hours. There were made 60 impressions of each brand of alginate divided in two groups (water and sodium hypochlorite 1%) rearranged after the application of the sodium hypochlorite spray according to the storage time (15 or 30 minutes and 1,6,12, or 24 hours). On the surface of the impressions 2ml of plaster were flowed, proportioned and condensed in agreement with manufacturer‘s instructions. After the final setting expansion the casts were sectioned vertically and medially, regularized at the cut surface (emery paper 400) and setted for reading the contact angle at the microscope Carl Zeiss. The obtained results, submitted to statistical treatment (ANOVA) revealed significant differences when compared the employed solutions (water and sodium hypochlorite 1%) and the time of storage. The sodium hypochlorite 1% exhibited the smallest contact angles and the times of storage of 15 minutes and 6 hours the smallest and larger angles, respectively. It can be concluded that the alginate impressions exhibited larger adaptation to the plaster when disinfected by hypochlorite of sodium 1% and stocked by 15 minutes.

The three-dimensional documentation of footwear and tyre impressions in snow offers an opportunity to capture additional fine detail for the identification as present photographs. For this approach, up to now, different casting methods have been used. Casting of footwear impressions in snow has always been a difficult assignment. This work demonstrates that for the three-dimensional documentation of impressions in snow the non-destructive method of 3D optical surface scanning is suitable. The new method delivers more detailed results of higher accuracy than the conventional casting techniques. The results of this easy to use and mobile 3D optical surface scanner were very satisfactory in different meteorological and snow conditions. The method is also suitable for impressions in soil, sand or other materials. In addition to the side by side comparison, the automatic comparison of the 3D models and the computation of deviations and accuracy of the data simplify the examination and delivers objective and secure results. The results can be visualized efficiently. Data exchange between investigating authorities at a national or an international level can be achieved easily with electronic data carriers.

Background This is the first ever evaluation of narrow band imaging (NBI), an innovative endoscopic imaging procedure, for the visualisation of pleural processes. Methods The pleural cavity was examined in 26 patients with pleural effusions using both white light and narrow band imaging during thoracoscopy under local anaesthesia. Results In the great majority of the patients narrow band imaging depicted the blood vessels more clearly than white light, but failed to reveal any differences in number, shape or size. Only in a single case with pleura thickened by chronic inflammation and metastatic spread of lung cancer did narrow band imaging show vessels that were not detectable under white light. Conclusion It is not yet possible to assess to what extent the evidence provided by NBI is superior to that achieved with white light. Further studies are required, particularly in the early stages of pleural processes.

OBJECTIVE The Short Communication presents a clinical case in which a novel procedure--the "Individualized Scanbody Technique" (IST)--was applied, starting with an intraoral digital impression and using CAD/CAM process for fabrication of ceramic reconstructions in bone level implants. MATERIAL AND METHODS A standardized scanbody was individually modified in accordance with the created emergence profile of the provisional implant-supported restoration. Due to the specific adaptation of the scanbody, the conditioned supra-implant soft tissue complex was stabilized for the intraoral optical scan process. Then, the implant platform position and the supra-implant mucosa outline were transferred into the three-dimensional data set with a digital impression system. Within the technical workflow, the ZrO2 -implant-abutment substructure could be designed virtually with predictable margins of the supra-implant mucosa. RESULTS After finalization of the 1-piece screw-retained full ceramic implant crown, the restoration demonstrated an appealing treatment outcome with harmonious soft tissue architecture. CONCLUSIONS The IST facilitates a simple and fast approach for a supra-implant mucosal outline transfer in the digital workflow. Moreover, the IST closes the interfaces in the full digital pathway.

The area between Bhutan in the west, Tibet in the north, the Kameng river in the east and Assam in the south is home to at least six distinct phyla of the Trans-Himalayan (Tibeto-Burman, Sino-Tibetan) language family. These phyla encompass a minimum of 11, but probably 15 or even more mutually unintelligible languages, all showing considerable internal dialect variation. Previous literature provided largely incomplete or incorrect accounts of these phyla. Based on recent field research, this article discusses in detail the several languages of four phyla whose speakers are included in the Monpa Scheduled Tribe, providing the most accurate speaker data, geographical distribution, internal variation and degree of endangerment. The article also provides some insights into the historical background of the area and the impact this has had on the distribution of the ethnolinguistic groups.
