Synthesis of bis [bis (tert-butylcyclopentadienyl) neodymium chloride] and structural trend of bis[bis(tertbutylcyclopentadienyl) lanthanide chloride]

The reaction of NdCl3 with 2 equiv. of Na-(BuC5H4)-C-t in THF(tetrahydrofuran) gives blue crystals [((BUC5H4)-C-t)(2)NdCl](2), C36H52Cl2Nd2(M-r = 844.11) Which crystallizes in the triclinic system with space group . The crystal data are a=11.978 (1), b=12.671(4), c=12.706(2)Angstrom, alpha=105.47(2), beta=99.38(1)? gamma=93.15 (2)degrees, V=1825 (3) Angstrom(3), Z = 2 , D-c = 1.53g/cm(3), F(000) = 450 , T = 298K , lambda(MoK alpha) = 0.71069 Angstrom, , mu = 14.97cm(-1). Final R = 0.0390, R-w = 0.0376 for 4329 reflections with I greater than or equal to 3 sigma(I-o). The molecule has a dimer structure with two certrosymmetrical chlorine bridges. The structural trend of these analogous complexes is discussed.

Fission dynamics for capture reactions in 58,64ni + 208pb systems: New results in terms of thermal energy and neutron multiplicity correlated distributions

The neutron multidetector DéMoN has been used to investigate the symmetric splitting dynamics in the reactions 58.64Ni + 208Pb with excitation energies ranging from 65 to 186 MeV for the composite system. An analysis based on the new backtracing technique has been applied on the neutron data to determine the two-dimensional correlations between the parent composite system initial thermal energy (EthCN) and the total neutron multiplicity (νtot), and between pre- and post-scission neutron multiplicities (νpre and νpost, respectively). The νpre distribution shape indicates the possible coexistence of fast-fission and fusion-fission for the system 58Ni + 208Pb (Ebeam = 8.86 A MeV). The analysis of the neutron multiplicities in the framework of the combined dynamical statistical model (CDSM) gives a reduced friction coefficient β = 23 ± 2512 × 1021 s-1, above the one-body dissipation limit. This paper analyzes the rethinking of art criticism during French post-structuralism and deconstruction in the second half of the XX century. From Michel Foucault to Gilles Deleuze, from Jacques Derrida to Jean-Claude Lebensztejn, the article develops several conceptions and functions of art criticism by means of paradox, paying special attention to Henri Michaux’s essay on René Magritte En rêvant à partir de peintures énigmatiques [Dreams like Enigmatic Paintings].

Rule Britannia!: British Stock Market Returns, 1825-1870

This article presents a new series of monthly equity returns for the British stock market for the period 1825-1870. In addition to calculating capital appreciation and dividend yields, the article also estimates the effect of survivorship bias on returns. Three notable findings emerge from this study. First, stock market returns in the 1825-1870 period are broadly similar for Britain and the United States, although the British market is less risky. Second, real returns in the 1825-1870 period are higher than in subsequent epochs of British history. Third, unlike the modern era, dividends are the most important component of returns.

The rate of return on equity across industrial sectors on the British stock market, 1825-70

This article assesses the contribution of the various industrial sectors to the growth of the British equity market in the 1825–70 period. It also provides estimates of the rates of return on these industrial sectors in this period. The article then proceeds to examine whether differences in rates of return across the various sectors can be explained by risk or other financial factors. One of the main findings is that the relatively high rates of return in the banking, insurance, and miscellaneous sectors appear to be in some measure explained by the presence of extended liability and uncalled capital.
