Se describen las causas más frecuentes de amputaciones. Se desarrollan las distintas posibilidades de confección de tratamientos sustitutivos del antepié, así como la valoración previa biomecánica del paciente y de los factores que se deben tener en cuenta en la confección de dichos tratamientos.

Definición y recuerdo anátomo-fisio-patológico del pie zambo y de las alteraciones funcionales más frecuentes que se encuentran asociadas a esta patología. Se define la metodología básica de exploración física del paciente y estudio radiológico con la determinación de las tangentes tibio-calcáneas. Desarrollo de los tratamientos generales, ortopodológicos, fisioterapéuticos y quirúrgicos. Presentación de tres casos clínicos afectos de alteraciones biomecánicas por pie zambo con su tratamiento ortopodológico.

Mediante la aplicación de ortesis de silicona, hemos podido reducir y tratar diversas patologías metatarsales de etiologfa biomecánica. Presentamos varios casos clínicos a los cuales mediante la instauración de estos tratamientos ortopodológicos, logramos establecer el comportamiento dinámico del antepié, y reducir las lesiones de partes blandas.

De todo el reino animal, el hombre es el que presenta el centro de gravedad más elevado, la cabeza erguida, la cintura escapular y raquis situados por encima del centro de gravedad.

Kefir, a symbiont microorganism suspension, presents benefic effects to health. Some kefir grains were cultivated in brown sugar, allowing to isolate a substance named CSQ. This was evaluated on a biologic essay of mouse foot edema, presenting an inhibitory activity of 30+4 % against carrageenan after the stimulus. It was observed that a cultivation mean containing sucrose, and not the milky mean, lead to the production of different sugar polymeric chains of kefir. The results in vivo suggest that the CSQ exerted an anti-inflammatory activity.

Básicamente las desviaciones de los dedos medios que a diario nos encontramos en las exploraciones podológicas, son de dos tipos: - Deformaciones longitudinales en el plano sagital: dedos en garra o en martillo con sus múltiples variantes. - Deformaciones laterales en el plano frontal: clinodactilias con dedos supra e infraductus.

When grown in monoculture, Antilles cherry (Malpighia glabra) plants have been affected by diseases which cause fruits malformation and spotting, reducing their value for market. From 1999 on, three new diseases characterised by leaf spot and fall of leaves have been observed in plantations located in Santa Izabel do Pará and Igarapé Açu counties. After isolation and pathogenicity tests on leaves of Antilles cherry plants, the isolates were identified as Calonectria ilicicola (anamorph: Cylindrocladium parasiticum) which causes large leaf spots reaching up to 7 cm long, brownish in colour, coalescent, scorching large leaf areas and causing 50% of leaf fall; Corynespora cassiicola, which provokes irregularly shaped, necrotic leaf spots with dark brown margins and white centers, surrounded by a yellow halo; and Myrothecium roridum which causes greyish target spots. Corynespora cassiicola has been reported causing leaf spots on different hosts in the Amazon region, while C. cassiicola has been recorded infecting Antilles cherry besides other hosts in the States of Maranhão and Pará.

Desde 1999 tem sido observada a morte de videiras (Vitis labrusca) americanas no Rio Grande do Sul. A doença é caracterizada pelo apodrecimento do colo da planta e do sistema radicular, seguindo-se o murchamento da parte áerea e, conseqüentemente, a morte da planta. Com base no isolamento, na comprovação da patogenicidade e nas características morfológicas, identificou-se o agente causal como sendo Cylindrocarpon destructans. Este é o primeiro relato no Brasil do "pé-preto" da videira.

Diplomityössä kehitettiin harustetun 110 kV kannatuspylvään konsepti tuotteeksi. Pylväs on säänkestävästä teräksestä valmistettu putkipalkkirakenteinen I-pylväs. Tavoitteena oli suunnitella rakenteesta kokonaistaloudellisesti edullinen. Rakenteen suunnittelussa otettiin huomioon valmistus-, kuljetus- ja varastointi- sekä rakentamisnäkökohtia. Työssä perehdyttiin pylväsrakenteiden yksityiskohtiin, putkipalkkien liitosmenetelmiin ja pylvään jalan nivelöintiratkaisuihin. Säänkestävä rakennemateriaali otettiin huomioon rakennesuunnittelussa. Rakenteen lujuusteknisen suunnittelun apuna käytettiin epälineaarista elementtimenetelmää. Pylväsrakenteen käyttäytyminen mallinnettiin geometrisesti epälineaariseksi, ja liitosdetaljien analysointia varten kehitettiin epälineaarisia materiaalimalleja. Rakenteen värähtelykäyttäytyminen analysoitiin myös elementtimenetelmällä. Lopputuloksena saatiin aikaan pylväs, joka täyttää sille asetetut vaatimukset. Pylväs on helposti valmistettava, kuljetettava ja pystytettävä.

At the end of the 1990s the stock breeding in the Europe was suffering from the animal disease epidemics such as Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) and foot –and mouth disease. The European Union (EU) tackled to this problem by tightening the legislation of animal by-products. At this point, rendering and fat producing industries faces new challenges, which they have to cope with in a way of trying to find alternatives to their products (animal fats and meat and bone meal). One of the most promising alternatives to utilize these products was to use them in energy production purposes. The purpose of the Thesis was to examine the utilization possibilities of Meat and bone meal (MBM) for energy production. The first part of the Thesis consists of theory part. The theory part includes evaluation of basic properties of MBM as a fertilizer and as a fuel, legislative evaluation and evaluation of different burning techniques. The second part of the Thesis consists of burning tests in Energy laboratory of LUT with different mixtures of peat and MBM. The purpose of the burning tests was to identify co-firing possibilities of peat and MBM and emission- and ash properties for peat and MBM.

ABSTRACT International trade in broiler’ feet, mainly to Asian markets, has demanded better quality control. The objective of this research was to study the suitability of using chicken footpad surface temperature to determine early lesions of pododermatitis. The project was conducted in two houses A1 and A2) in a commercial farm during one production flock. A1 had reused litter of wood shavings and rice hulls, and A2 had a new litter of sawdust. Both houses had positive pressure ventilation. The inner area of the poultry was virtually divided into three quadrants. The footpads were checked for the feet quality, and a degree of pododermatitis was awarded. Thermal images were made to test the surface temperature of the foot and identify inflammation in a total of 30 birds per house, at ages 5, 19, 29, 28 and 40 days of grow-out. Conditions of the rearing environment as well as the surface temperature of the litter, litter moisture, and degree of compression, were recorded. The environment within the houses did not differ. The surface temperatures of the footpad did not differ between the groups. The minimum footpad surface temperatures within the scores were similar, except for the score 3, which did not occur in A1. There was a prevalence of severe injury in the house with a new litter.

Hemosuccus pancreaticus is a unusual syndrome manifested by hemorrhage into the pancreatic duct and by blood loss through the ampulla of Vater: It may be caused by tumors, arteriovenous malformation, pancreatic lithiasis, aneurism rupture from adjacent vessels, or erosion of pancreatic and peripancreatic vessels due to chronic pancreatitis. The authors describe a case of massive and recurrent gastrointestinal upper hemorrhage in a 26-year-old man without known risk factors for pancreatitis. This man underwent urgent surgery due to gastrointestinal bleeding during the ínvestigation. During the procedure, blood was found in the intestinal lumen and a tumor in the head of pancreas with two centimeters of diameter: A gastroduodenopancreatectomy was performed. Histological study showed chronic pancreatitis with a fistula from the pancreatic vessels to the Wirsung duct. The patient was discharged without postoperative complications and after months, remains assymptomatic.

Choledochal cyst is a rare congenital malformation of the biliary tree, and aproximately 25% of them are diagnosed in adults. Appropriate surgical management of these lesions depends on the anatomic site and extension of the cystic process. The recognized association of the bile duct cysts with hepatobiliary malignant disease has important surgical implications. Total cyst removal and cholecistectomy with Roux-en- Y hepaticojejunostomy was performed in a 47 year old female with a common bile duct cyst tipe 1 postoperative period was uneventful. A review of literature is presented.

Hepatic lymphangioma developed from a malformation that blocks the lymphatic system of a given area of the liver is a rare benign tumor observed most often in children and adolescents. The authors report and discuss a case of cystic lymphangioma of the liver in a 65 years old female patient, from a region where hydatid disease is endemic, with a complaint of epigastric pain, nausea, and vomiting. The patient presented a non-pulsatile mass, with severe pain at palpation in the epigastric region, The diagnostic investigation revealed a large cystic lesion in the left lobe of the liver; and she was submitted to bisegmentectomy II and III, which showed a hepatic lymphangioma. Considering the progressive character of this lesion, it should be carefully evaluated, since the removal of the lymphangioma is a safe, curative procedure.
