The fracture resistance of a CAD/CAM Resin Nano Ceramic (RNC) and a CAD ceramic at different thicknesses

Objective. This study aimed to investigate the influence of restoration thickness to the fracture resistance of adhesively bonded Lava (TM) Ultimate CAD/CAM, a Resin Nano Ceramic(RNC), and IPS e. max CAD ceramic.Methods. Polished Lava (TM) Ultimate CAD/CAM (Group L), sandblasted Lava (TM) Ultimate CAD/CAM (Group LS), and sandblasted IPS e.max CAD (Group ES) discs (n=8, phi=10 mm) with a thickness of respectively 0.5 mm, 1.0 mm, 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm, and 3.0 mm were cemented to corresponding epoxy supporting discs, achieving a final thickness of 3.5 mm. All the 120 specimens were loaded with a universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min. The load (N) at failure was recorded as fracture resistance. The stress distribution for 0.5 mm restorative discs of each group was analyzed by Finite Element Analysis (FEA). The results of facture resistances were analyzed by one-way ANOVA and regression.Results. For the same thickness of testing discs, the fracture resistance of Group L was always significantly lower than the other two groups. The 0.5 mm discs in Group L resulted in the lowest value of 1028 (112) N. There was no significant difference between Group LS and Group ES when the restoration thickness ranged between 1.0 mm and 2.0 mm. There was a linear relation between fracture resistance and restoration thickness in Group L (R = 0.621, P < 0.001) and in Group ES (R = 0.854, P < 0.001). FEA showed a compressive permanent damage in all groups.Significance. The materials tested in this in vitro study with the thickness above 0.5 mm could afford the normal bite force. When Lava Ultimate CAD/CAM is used, sandblasting is suggested to get a better bonding. (C) 2014 Academy of Dental Materials. Published by Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Blood pressure and lipid profile in young women: the role of anthropometric measurement

Body composition has fundamental importance in the quality of life and is a powerful predictor of mortality and morbidity in humans. The identification and monitoring of the amount of body fat have been receiving special attention in aspects related to health promotion, not just for its actions in the prevention and in the control of cardiovascular diseases but also for their induction and association with risk factors, especially in the plasmatic lipid levels and arterial pressure. It was investigated the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and body fat percentage (%BF) by bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) with the blood pressure levels (systolic and diastolic) and serum lipids (TC, HDL-c, LDL-c, VLDL-c, TG). In a group of fifty seven women (aged 18 to 26 years old ), obesity was detected in 5 and 19 women by BMI (≥ 30 kg/m2) and %BF (≥ 30%), respectively. BMI and % BF were positively correlated with blood pressure (systolic and diastolic), and highly significant in the obese group by %BF. Moreover, BMI and % BF were significantly correlated with all lipids and lipoprotein fractions VLDL-c and triglyceride, respectively. These results suggest that %BF is a good indicator of “occult obesity” in subjects with normal body mass index. The associated use of BMI and %BF to better evaluate obesity may improve the study of blood pressure levels and serum lipid changes that are commonly associated with obesity.

Classificação da cobertura da terra da RPPN Foz do Rio Aguapeí: abordagem booleana para a integração de imagens TM-Landsat e dados multifonte

The Companhia Energetica de Sao Paulo - CESP owns six hydroelectric dams in the state of São Paulo. The dams, both in its construction and in operation, cause some environmental impacts, most of them negatives, for example, the flooding in regions before not flooded, deviation of the river’s course, among others, bringing harm to flora and fauna of these environments. As a way to compensating these damages, the CESP has acquired a region that was influenced by Sérgio Motta Hydroelectric Plant Engineer, or Porto Primavera, and turned it into Reserva Particular do Patrimônio Natural Foz do Rio Aguapeí. By law it fits in a Conservation Unit, and thus should be contemplate for a management plan, ie, a multidisciplinary technical document which allows, simply, the practice of actions within and around in a sustainably way. This work aimed at developing a land cover map of the reserve for this plan can be made and executed more efficiently. Initially, the project included field visits and meetings with members of the CESP to be specified classes contained on the map. The researches on sexuality, especially from Foucault’s critical analysis, have been denouncing that the sexual repression also happens through the patterns that suggest a fixed happiness model to be followed, not considering the autonomous development of the subject. The aim of this descriptive-qualitative study was to make a critical analysis of the content of the book Sex and The City, which presents narratives about sexual and love relationships in New York. This analysis evidenciated the reproduction of outdated sexual concepts presented on the following thematic categories: (1) Comprehension of the single woman as lonely and unhappy; (2) Comprehension of the single woman as independent and consumerist; (3) Comprehension that the single woman needs a heterosexual relationship related to the happy romantic ideal; (4) Comprehension of the love relationships as commodities: people as objects of use and exchange. The sexual and love patterns presented by the book demonstrate the repression reproduced uncritically by the mass culture. The Psychology has been an important area of the science to denounce the control of the sexuality from these perverse and ideological patterns.
