Esta dissertao pretende contribuir para um melhor conhecimento da complexidade das redes de transferncia de conhecimentos e tcnicas, no domnio da engenharia civil e mais concretamente atravs dos caminhos-de-ferro, nos sculos XIX e XX. Em Portugal, os caminhos-de-ferro estiveram no cerne de um vasto debate, sobretudo poltico, concomitante com uma instabilidade crescente no cenrio poltico e uma fase de fragilidade econmica. neste contexto que a Linha do Sul e Sueste vai ser construda (seguida pela sua extenso at Vila Real de Santo Antnio e pela construo do ramal de Portimo, que chegar a Lagos). Este empreendimento uma clara ilustrao da realidade portuguesa de ento, no que concerne ao desenvolvimento desta rede de transportes, que nos permite, igualmente, conhecer e compreender quem interveio no processo de construo da linha (os engenheiros, as empresas, entre outros aspectos) e assim determinar quais as influncias e transferncias tcnicas que tiveram lugar; RESUMEE: Cette mmoire attire la contribution pour une meilleure connaissance de la complexit des rseaux de transfert de techniques et connaissances qui ont eu lieu dans le domaine de lingnierie civile, surtout dans les chemins de fer, au XIXme et XXme sicles. Au Portugal, les chemins de fer sont t le cerne dun trs vaste dbat, concidant avec une croissante instabilit dans le scenario politique et aussi une phase conomique fragile. Cest dans ce contexte que la Ligne du Sud et Sud-est va tre bti (suivi par lextension jusqu Vila Real de Santo Antnio et la construction de lembranchement ferroviaire Portimo). Cette entreprise cest une illustration claire de la ralit portugaise, en concernant limplmentation de cette rseau de transport, que nous permettre de comprendre et galement bien connaitre qui a intervenu dans le processus de construction de la ligne (les ingnieurs, entreprises, etcetera), ainsi que dterminer les influences et les transferts techniques qui ont eu lieu; ABSTRACT: With this masters thesis, the aim is to be able to contribute to a better understanding of the complex network of techniques and knowledge transfers, that took place within the field of civil engineering, in the 19th and 20th centuries, namely on the railways. In Portugal, railways take-up was a wide and ample debate, coinciding with an uprising turmoil on the Portuguese political outskirt and a phase of economic frailty. Its in this context that the construction of the South and Southeast Line took place (followed, later on, by its extension until Vila Real de Santo Antnio and by the construction of the Portimos branch). This enterprise is, as we pretend to prove in this masters thesis, a clear example of the Portuguese reality, enabling us to understand and to get to know those who intervened in the constructions process (the engineers and the companies) as well as determining influences and technique transfers that have taken place.

This paper deals with the importance, quantity and diversity of Late Bronze Age sites known around the Tagus estuary. The material culture points out to the existence of cultural stimuli from very different origins: from the Iberian Peninsula inner, the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean basin, related to the social organization and the economy of the populations that inhabited this region between the XIII century BC and the IX century BC, according to the available radiocarbon data. These populations interacted with the first Phoenicians that arrived to the region at the end of this period, after episodic relations of trading with their antecedents, from Central Mediterranean region.

The analysis of a faunal collection from a storage silo found in the castle of Aljezur, dating from the Almohad period (XII/XIIIth centuries AD), is presented. It appears that the community occupying the castle concentrated on hunting species such as the rabbit, wild boar, red deer and Iberian lynx, while evidences of stockbreeding were scarce and centered upon caprines with horses and chicken playing minor role. The presence of a large dog has been assumed to be an aid for hunting but possibly also in herd keeping. With the exception of the lynx, all large mammals evidenced traces of consumption. The domestic cat is taken to represent a pet whereas the lynx had probably a role as a fur provider. It should be noted that equids and the pond turtle were probably food items. Rodents are taken to represent commensals whereas the toad of the Genus Bufo probably represented an intrusive element.

For the past 15 years, a succession of stable isotope studies have documented the abrupt dietary transition from the Mesolithic to the Neolithic in Western and Northern Europe. Portugal, with its Late Mesolithic shell middens and burials apparently coexisting with the earliest Neolithic, further illustrates the nature of that transition. Individuals from Neolithic contexts there had significantly different diets to their Mesolithic counterparts. No evidence was found for a transitional phase between the marine oriented Mesolithic subsistence regimes and the domesticated, terrestrial Neolithic diet. Two later Neolithic individuals, however, showed evidence for partial reliance on marine or aquatic foods. This raises questions about the possible persistence of marine dietary regimes beyond the Mesolithic period. This article is followed by a brief note by Mary Jackes and David Lubell.

O Servio de Referncia (SR), incorporando na sua organizao, funcionamento e comunicao com o utilizador um conjunto de potencialidades proporcionadas pela tecnologia, assume um papel fundamental na luta contra a desigualdade e o analfabetismo digital, no fomento da literacia da informao e na criao de conhecimento. A percepo do valor e das fragilidades do SR nas bibliotecas pblicas em Portugal levanta a questo sobre como contribuir para o seu desenvolvimento. A presente investigao, visando a construo de alicerces numa perspectiva de evoluo, parte da anlise de documentos orientadores internacionais da RUSA/ALA (Reference and User Services Association / American Library Association) e da IFLA (International Federation of Library Association) e da observao de caractersticas estruturais da Rede Nacional de Biblioteca Pblicas (RNBP), para a concepo de solues de desenvolvimento do SR a aplicar a esta realidade concreta. Seguindo um paradigma compreensivo indutivo, com uma orientao baseada na Grounded Theory, esta pesquisa privilegia o contexto da descoberta e a construo de uma teoria. No plano emprico cumpre uma complementaridade de tcnicas qualitativas e quantitativas, com recurso a uma triangulao metodolgica. O campo de anlise abrange a totalidade das bibliotecas pblicas portuguesas integradas na RNBP em Portugal. Visando aspectos funcionais e materiais, so analisados dados preexistentes e aplicadas tcnicas de observao directa e inqurito por questionrio. Visando aspectos sociais, so efectuadas seis entrevistas semi-estruturadas. Os resultados apontam para uma situao de estagnao das bibliotecas da RNBP e para um funcionamento no estruturado e informal do SR, na maioria dos casos em que se verifica a sua disponibilizao. Fundamentada a necessidade de evoluo, e do investimento que nele possa ser feito, construdo um modelo, seguindo uma estratgia por nveis, flexveis e adaptveis s necessidades e aos recursos de cada biblioteca, que visa o desenvolvimento incremental e congruente daquele servio; Abstract: The Reference Service in public libraries in Portugal. Development model from international guidelines. Incorporating in its organization, procedures and communication with the users a set of tools brought by technology, Reference Service (RS) plays a key role in the struggle against inequality and digital illiteracy, promoting information literacy and creating knowledge. The perception of the value of RS and the weaknesses in public libraries in Portugal raise the question on how to contribute to its development. In order to build RS foundations on an evolutionary perspective, this research analyzes RUSA / ALA (Reference and User Services Association / American Library Association) and IFLA (International Federation of Library Association) international guidelines and the structural characteristics of the Portuguese National Public Library Network (RNBP), with the objective of creating a solution for the development of that service to be applied to this reality. Following an inductive comprehensive paradigm, with an orientation based on Grounded Theory, this research focuses on the context of discovery and the construction of a theory. Empirically it fulfils complementary qualitative and quantitative techniques, using a methodological triangulation. The field of analysis covers Portuguese public libraries integrating the RNBP. Aiming at functional and material aspects, direct observation techniques and a survey by questionnaire are applied. Targeting social aspects, six semistructured interviews are carried out. The results point to a situation of stagnation in the RNBP as well as the unstructured and informal performance of the SR, which justifies the need for evolution and investment. A model is constructed, following a strategy based on levels, flexible and adaptable to the needs and resources of each library, with the perspective of an incremental and consistent development of this service.

Uma longa viagem guiada por algum que nele viveu uma vida inteira, como profissional e estudioso, e que dele se apaixonou, como se pode verificar pela emoo que se sente nas palavras. O Ensino Primrio em Portugal. Viagem ao Passado apresenta uma, interessante, completa e singular, abordagem ao Ensino Primrio em Portugal e, dessa forma, proporciona, comunidade cientfica e sociedade portuguesa, um relevante contributo para a História da Educao.
