A major component of the bill is the Airport Improvement Plan (AIP) program, which provides funding for airport rehabilitation and development projects.

OBJECTIVES: To determine the epidemiology of biliary atresia (BA) in Switzerland, the outcome of the children from diagnosis, and the prognostic factors. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The records of all patients with BA born in Switzerland between January 1994 and December 2004 were analyzed. Survival rates were calculated with the Kaplan-Meier method, and prognostic factors evaluated with the log rank test. Median follow up was 58 months (range, 5-124). RESULTS: BA was diagnosed in 48 children. Incidence was 1 in 17,800 live births (95% confidence interval 1/13,900-1/24,800), without significant regional, annual, or seasonal variation. Forty-three children underwent a Kasai portoenterostomy (PE) in 5 different Swiss pediatric surgery units. Median age at Kasai PE was 68 days (range, 30-126). Four-year survival with native liver after Kasai PE was 37.4%. Liver transplantation (LT) was needed in 31 in 48 children with BA, including 5 patients without previous Kasai PE. Four patients (8%, all born before 2001) died while waiting for LT, and 29 LT were performed in 27 patients (28 in Geneva and 1 in Paris). All of the transplanted patients are alive. Four-year overall BA patient survival was 91.7%. Four-year survival with native liver was 75% in patients who underwent Kasai PE before 46 days, 33% in patients operated on between 46 and 75 days, and 11% in patients operated on after 75 days (P = 0.02). CONCLUSIONS: Overall survival of patients with BA in Switzerland compares favorably with current international standards, whereas results of the Kasai operation could be improved to reduce the need for LTs in infancy and early childhood.

The Swiss Haemophilia Registry of the Medical Committee of the Swiss Haemophilia Society was established in 2000. Primarily it bears epidemiological and basic clinical data (incidence, type and severity of the disease, age groups, centres, mortality). Two thirds of the questions of the WFH Global Survey can be answered, especially those concerning use of concentrates (global, per capita) and treatment modalities (on-demand versus prophylactic regimens). Moreover, the registry is an important tool for quality control of the haemophilia treatment centres. There are no informations about infectious diseases like hepatitis or HIV, due to non-anonymisation of the data. We plan to incorporate the results of the mutation analysis in the future.

Existen muchas desigualdades entre las diversas poblaciones que viven en España. Se han medido muchas que distinguen a españoles y extranjeros. Las mujeres constituyen un colectivo específico. La gran diferenciaentre un colectivo local, que ha nacido en un lugar y los que vienen de fuera se refiere, en primer lugar, a la estructura de edades. Mientras que en los primeros están todospresentes, en el segundo grupo, normalmente, se desplazan las personas en edad activa, que también corresponde a la edad fecunda de las mujeres. Esto establece una diferenciafundamental entre unos y otros.Entre los migrantes, ya pueden ser internos o externos, las familias jóvenes abundan y la tercera edad resulta normalmente ausente. Los jóvenes son los que tienen los niños, los que usan las escuelas y los que menos usan elservicio de salud o menos gastas provocan, de acuerdo con su franja de edad. Si después de pasada la edad activa retornan o se quedan, eso establecerá la gran diferencia.Pero, en el caso de España, sólo se puede hacer este enunciado para el futuro de los extranjeros y para el pasado de los desplazamientos internos. Se ha visto que muchos vuelven al pueblo, pero queda en el mismo Estado. Con los que vinieron de fuera, no se sabe lo que va a suceder.

In urban communities, there are often limited amounts of right-of-way available for establishing a large setback distance from the curb for fixed objects. Urban communities must constantly weigh the cost of purchasing additional right-of-way for clear zones against the risk of fixed object crashes. From 2004 to 2006, this type of crash on curbed roads represented 15% of all fatal crashes and 3% of all crashes in the state of Iowa. Many states have kept the current minimum AASHTO recommendations as their minimum clear zone standards; however, other states have decided that these recommendations are insufficient and have increased the required minimum clear zone distance to better suit the judgment of local designers. This report presents research on the effects of the clear zone on urban curbed streets. The research was conducted in two phases. The first phase involved a synthesis of practice that included a literature review and a survey of practices in jurisdictions that have developmental and historical patterns similar to those of Iowa. The second phase involved investigating the benefits of a 10 ft clear zone, which included examining urban corridors in Iowa that meet or do not meet the 10 ft clear zone goal. The results of this study indicate that a consistent fixed object offset results in a reduction in the number of fixed object crashes, a 5 ft clear zone is most effective when the goal is to minimize the number of fixed object c ashes, and a 3 ft clear zone is most effective when the goal is to minimize the cost of fixed object crashes.

O Brasil ocupa o quarto lugar mundial em consumo de fertilizantes; dentre esses, destaca-se o fertilizante mineral misto como o mais consumido no País. Depois da atualização da legislação brasileira de fertilizantes em 2004, muitos produtores desses insumos afirmam que houve aumento excessivo no rigor da legislação em relação à fiscalização dos teores de nutrientes neles contidos. Dentro desse contexto, os objetivos deste trabalho foram aplicar técnicas de análise estatística exploratória e descritiva e de regressão logística aos dados de análises fiscais de fertilizantes realizadas pelo Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento (MAPA), nos anos de 2008 a 2010, buscando indicadores da contribuição das fontes de variação referentes aos fatores estabelecimento, formulação e laboratório para a variação total dos resultados; e verificar se os níveis de tolerância estabelecidos pelo MAPA estão sendo praticados. Para tanto, esses dados, separados por estabelecimento, formulação, laboratório, especificação granulométrica e período foram submetidos à análise descritiva, seguida de regressão logística. A regressão logística demonstrou que, para N e P analisados pelo laboratório com maior número de observações, as variáveis "estabelecimento" e "formulação" influem no resultado final da análise, dentro ou fora da garantia, enquanto para K, analisado pelo mesmo laboratório, apenas a variável "formulação" influi nesses resultados.

On June 24, 2010, the Rebuild Iowa Office (RIO) held a discussion-based tabletop exercise for the purpose of creating a framework to support disaster recovery coordination within the State of Iowa. The exercise design team was composed of RIO and Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division (HSEMD) staff. Initial planning for the Iowa Disaster Recovery Tabletop Exercise began in February 2010, in response to recommendations by the Rebuild Iowa Advisory Commission and the Rebuild Iowa Coordinating Council. Both of these groups were organized in direct response to the 2008 Iowa disasters to help establish a path for Iowa’s recovery and monitor progress toward meeting established goals. Recommendations included formalizing the responsibilities of the RIO as they relate to 2008 disasters, capturing lessons learned, and determining what a recovery model should look like for Iowa’s future disasters.

The term diversity includes the protected classes, but also includes broader differences, such as age, sexual orientation, and religion. These differences are not subject to numerical goal setting in employment, but may be protected by non-discrimination statutes and policies. Iowa’s infrastructure is at a crossroads. A stalwart collection of Iowans dared to consider Iowa’s future economy, the way ahead for future generations, and what infrastructure will be required – and what will not be required – for Iowa to excel. The findings are full of opportunity and challenge. The Infrastructure Plan for Iowa’s Future Economy: A Strategic Direction tells the story and points the way to a strong economy and quality of life for our children and our children’s children. This plan is different from most in that the motivation for its development came not from a requirement to comply or achieve a particular milestone, but, rather, from a recognition that infrastructure, in order to ensure a globally-competitive future economy, must transform from that of past generations. It is not news that all infrastructure – from our rich soil to our bridges – is a challenge to maintain. Prior to the natural disasters of 2008 and the national economic crisis, Iowa was tested in its capacity to sustain not only the infrastructure, but to anticipate future needs. It is imperative that wise investments and planning guide Iowa’s infrastructure development. This plan reflects Iowa’s collective assessment of its infrastructure– buildings, energy, natural resources, telecommunications, and transportation – as, literally, interdependent building blocks of our future. Over the months of planning, more than 200 Iowans participated as part of committees, a task force, or in community meetings. The plan is for all of Iowa, reflected in private, nonprofit, and public interests and involvement throughout the process. Iowa’s success depends on all of Iowa, in all sectors and interests, to engage in its implementation. The Infrastructure Plan for Iowa’s Future Economy: A Strategic Direction sets a clear and bold direction for all stakeholders, making it clear all have a responsibility and an opportunity to contribute to Iowa’s success.

The goal of the study is to locate a site appropriate for a 170 offender unit, based on an understanding of current needs, existing and proposed procedure and the longevity of existing facility use. The study is based on master-plan process. A framework on which multiple stages of infrastructure development can be based is initiated through the systemic study of infrastructure condition, infrastructure needs and treatment objectives.
