The gingiva, part of the masticatory mucosa tissue that covers the alveolar process and surrounds the cervical portion of teeth, has a definitive shape and texture associated with the eruption of teeth. Therefore, it must be included in rehabilitative planning, as the absence of papillae induces problems with esthetics, phonetics and food-impaction. The purpose of the present study was to approach the indications, limitations and techniques for making a removable artificial gingiva made of acrylic resin, by reporting on a clinical case. The patient, a 29-year-old woman, with the sequelae of periodontal disease, presented loss of interdental papilla causing “black holes”. She was dissatisfied with the esthetic appearance of her teeth, and also complained of long teeth and air escaping when she spoke. As treatment, prosthetic reconstruction was proposed, by means of a removable artificial gingiva (gingival epithesis) to simulate the presence of interdental papillae, providing better esthetics and phonetics. Gingival epithesis is an easily made, inserted and hygienically cleaned appliance that provides a simple and safe alternative solution for cases in which surgical techniques are limited.

Educação ambiental como estratégia para inserção da sustentabilidade na formação em odontologia

This thesis proposes environmental education as a strategy for the inclusion of sustainability in the academic education of higher level. The dentistry course has been the object of study, which is justified by the recognition of the need for reflection on environmental issues in the dental academia, initially based on professional experience of the author as a dental surgeon. The aim of this study is to investigate the scientific production of dentistry and its content related to environmental issues, in addition to expanding discussions and reflections on the need to insert environmental education as academic content. With the specific purpose of verifying the amount and analyze the content of scientific articles involving issues related to sustainability in dentistry, Chapter 01 presents research in leading journals portals available on the internet. Works were surveyed where sustainability and related issues were present and placed in a theoretical framework that analyzes the dental service inclusion in the dominant economic model. These procedures are intended to prove the hypothesis that the dental profession does not produce significant scientific content that relates the profession to the environment and sustainability. A literature review was conducted with the statement of dentistry changes from its origins to the front position to the dominant development model and exemplification of the deleterious effects of this model on the environment. In addition, there was a scientific research in journals portals available on the internet and investigated the amount and content of scientific articles involving issues related to sustainability in dentistry. Chapter 02 has the specific purpose of providing content to expand discussions and reflections on the need to insert environmental education in undergraduate courses in dentistry, such as insertion strategy into a new development model guided by sustainability. In this, students questionnaires were given the 8th dentistry course of the period the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), to be understood environmental perception of learners and were obtained grants for proof of the thesis that environmental education applied dentistry has the potential to make people aware and willing to act practicing and propagating sustainability in their conduct. The overall results indicate little scientific production, as the research and work that relates to dentistry to sustainability and the issues related to the environment have not significantly been present in the syllabus of the undergraduate courses in dentistry, despite the interest shown by survey respondents When such issues are addressed. In this context, it is proposed fostering actions to environmental education, so that dental professionals are engaged in the construction of a new development model based on sustainability, as despite the environmental theme seems to be little explored in the academic and scientific world of dentistry, there interest from students and great potential multiplier for appropriate environmental behavior. After proving the hypothesis that the environment-related content are poorly explored in the academic and scientific world of dentistry, the main conclusions were recognizing the importance of environmental education as an interdisciplinary tool for environmental thematic approach in undergraduate courses dentistry, in addition to implementing this new pedagogical proposal in the professional practice of dentists, given their potential multiplier for environmental knowledge.

Protocolo clínico para confecção de próteses removíveis

Este protocolo objetiva esclarecer dúvidas existentes a respeito dos passos necessários para a reabilitação com próteses totais e parciais removíveis convencionais. Essas alternativas de tratamento são modalidades terapêuticas consagradas na literatura e podem devolver função mastigatória, estética, fonação e conforto ao paciente quando confeccionadas de maneira satisfatória. Elas representam também uma ótima opção para aqueles pacientes que não podem se submeter ao tratamento com implantes, por apresentarem limitações biológicas ou financeiras. A abordagem do protocolo clínico está dividida em duas partes. A primeira parte ilustra a reabilitação com próteses totais convencionais e a segunda, a reabilitação com próteses parciais removíveis convencionais em arcos inferiores com extremidade livre bilateral. Por meio da demonstração do passo a passo com fotos, dicas clínicas e resumos sistemáticos do conteúdo teórico contido nesse material, o aluno de Odontologia e o cirurgião-dentista poderão conhecer os passos necessários para executar estes tipos de reabilitações, desde o momento clínico de diagnóstico até o de controle e manutenção. Esperamos que essa obra desperte o interesse dos cirurgiões-dentistas por executar esses tipos de próteses e que os ajude a desenvolverem práticas e habilidades que melhorem o desempenho clínico dessas alternativas de tratamento.

Corpos da Ciranda: narrativas poéticas, artístico/estética da ciranda de Lia de Itamaracá

This research is a study that deals with the language of the players bodies of Ciranda (a typical dance in circle in Brazil) – more specifically the one of Lia from Itamaracá. Our interest is to observe how this body dances, communicates, writes on time and space, establishing relations that complement and help to remain in construction. Thus, in a circular way and in an energy that is transmitted with the contact of the touch of the hands, in the power of song, in a circle that can be seen from many places, but by different angles, holding on that the particularities of its subjects players/dancers/observers, and that we propose ourselves to think: who are those players bodies and how do they build the circles of Ciranda? Therefore, during the pathway of the research, we were conducted by the phenomenological method and, from this, used the concepts of lived and sensible world. Our interest in this manifestation is, also, the body that dances and insert itself in the artistic expression, meaning and opening itself to the knowledge by the experience. Therefore, we assume a conception of the body that refers itself in the merleaupontyana fenomenologic approach, in this way, in its criativity in relation to the body as a fragmented being, as it is pointed by the Cartesiana theory. In this perspective, we understand the body in its relations with the culturals, sociais, economics and artistics issues that integrates it, in others words, in the relations that helped us to better understand the body as it is. This way, this research has as main objective to present the refletions about the players body, mainly, of Lia from Itamaracá and with this body to dance, to communicate, to write itself on time and space, estabilishing relations that complement and help to stay in construction. Such a statement leads us in this work, to inquire, for example: what mobilizes those subjects on this dance? We understand that elements as the place that is always in modification, the costumes, the musicality and the change in the movimentation of the players body in each new circle, those elements are factors that activate a permanente reconfiguration that are happening in the Ciranda dance nowadays. Finally, we assert that this investigation comes in reason to the big dimension that the Ciranda has achivied in Brazil, especially in the Northeast, as the existence of few references and registers of the reseach manifestation in the academic areas. It is possible to verify, in this research, that, in reason to this spreading, the nuances of the players bodies is even more diversified and that the missing of experiences on Itamaracá island - PE, its origin has putting away the original and community, becames, more and more, a dance of others stages and squares.

O sujeito-colagem da estética contemporânea – antimoda jovem na UFRN

Assuming the body as a space of communication and production of subjectivity, we investigate, through the perspective of the contemporary youth at UFRN, the complexity surrounding the act of adorning the body as an act of communication, more precisely a visual communication, filled with symbolism and personality. Using the metaporic method, we seek to follow the communicational act, resulting from the relationship between these unique individuals at UFRN, their adornments and clothing, as an act that produces meaning. Through these narratives and singular expression, observed in these adorned / dressed bodys, we were able to identify seven categories that outlines the collage-individual that we present here: Aesthetic inconsistency and frequent change of style, gender X clothes, spaces regulated by a dominant aesthetic, symbolic connection with garments and / or accessories, the building an authorial image through various aesthetic references, moment of aesthetic rupture with socially established standards, and, parts of the body whose modification or acceptance reflects aesthetic ruptures.

Metodologías y usos de la imagen en la pintura figurativa contemporánea: fragmentación, borrosidad y estética digital

Esta investigación trata de ofrecer una visión concreta acerca de porque un buen número de artistas, están trabajando con imágenes que comparten estéticas o numerosos elementos visuales. El objetivo principal no son, de hecho, los artistas, sino más bien las razones que podrían llevarles a adoptar estas estéticas. La investigación se divide en tres partes principales, y una cuarta que funciona como introducción a las diversas problemáticas planteadas. La primera trata acerca de cómo la fragmentación ha influenciado a la pintura de algunos artistas y pretende encontrar las razones de esta influencia. La segunda se centra en un tipo de pinturas conocidas como “borrosas”, cercanas al concepto de “efecto Tuymans” que ideó Jordan Kantor. Presencia de la pintura matérica en la contemporaneidad plástica y estética española. Grupo El Paso, protoapertura al arte conceptual español

Para determinar el papel del grupo El Paso en la configuración del arte Español, partimos de las interrelaciones entre la historia y el proceso creativo, escudriñando el delgado hilo conductor con el tipo de dictadura, transición y democracia vivenciados en España. La realización de esta investigación ha requerido la capacidad, por nuestra parte, de deslizarnos fuera del enmarañado y manido campo de nuestra historiografía, para sumergirnos en la transversalidad del conocimiento humanístico. Si no hubiésemos sido capaces de entrar y salir del cajón seleccionado, con relativa agilidad, el estudio del período a estudiar, donde se plantean sesgos espaciales, temáticos, temporales y metodológicos, conllevaría inevitables pérdidas. Esperamos que el replanteamiento propuesto sea de utilidad para fundamentar futuras investigaciones desde nuevas perspectivas, o mejor, pretendemos contribuir con nuevas perspectivas para futuras investigaciones. Nuestro trabajo se ha convertido en una propuesta viva, donde cada paso que dábamos se veía sorprendido, o continuado, por los pasos de otros, y donde tuvimos que avanzar desde la documentación impresa más reconocida hasta la recopilada en los rincones más sórdidos de la aldea global. Finalmente, la confrontación se ha definido como nuestra metodología. Solo la permanente huida del dogma nos ha empujado al verdadero entendimiento de las cuestiones más profundas; el pluralismo cognitivo necesario durante nuestro recorrido, ha conllevado un necesario pluralismo metodológico entre lo cualitativo y lo cuantitativo, entre el raciocinio y la intuición. Hemos destacado el papel que las publicaciones han tenido en el objeto de nuestro estudio, en cuanto a su contribución para mantener en la invisibilidad absoluta la parte o el todo de aquello que no servía a la praxis política del franquismo, hasta el punto de que aún hoy, puede parecer que no hubo más. La mayor dificultad ha sido la falta de documentación sobre lo que realmente pasaba fuera de la historia reconocida por la institución. Incapaces de mantener nuestro trabajo vinculado a esa historiografía de arte elaborada desde las confrontaciones con el internacional y llena de amnesias, de las que hemos hablado reiteradamente, consideramos nuestra propuesta como la antesala de lo que debería ser una investigación más profunda, desde la confrontación entre los desarrollos artísticos y otras dinámicas que sobrepasan el mundo del arte y la política con mayúsculas, en la vida madrileña, catalana y española en general...

Cuerpos y estética : de deportistas y milicianos. Los movimientos juveniles judíos de resistencia en la década del 30 en la República Argentina

Dentro de la experiencia de investigación que a partir del año 2013 me toca dirigir, se encuentra una línea particular, relacionada con la estética y los cuerpos, que sugiere la indagación de agrupamientos particulares, relacionados con las prácticas corporales con sentido estético y artístico. En ese sentido, para nuestro equipo, se torna de interés reconocer, entre otros asuntos, como a partir de determinadas construcciones de la sensibilidad corporal, algunos grupos adquieren identidades propias, originales, muchas veces para la generación de nuevas tendencias culturales y otras en respuesta a contextos que desafiaron su integridad y núcleo más profundo. Esta presentación se propone indagar algunos de esos contextos, en este caso, la construcción de una cultura corporal propia de los jóvenes judíos en la década del 30 en nuestro país. La Segunda guerra Mundial y la vida de los Jóvenes Judíos Europeos en ese período, tuvo una fuerte relación con las actividades: Deportivas, militantes, de la Resistencia política y muchas veces, de militancia en la Resistencia armada. La década del 30 fue la antesala de esa construcción, como si forjar templanza en la competencia deportiva fuera el preludio de lo que la historia adivinaba para la década siguiente. ¿Cómo se estructuraron sus estéticas corporales, sus inclinaciones de moda e indumentaria, y relaciones sociales? ¿Cómo ?saltan? de las canchas deportivas Macabeas o de la Juventud Socialista, a la decisión de involucrar sus cuerpos en la defensa de identidades, culturas, Historias? Estos interrogantes, buscan respuestas en algunos principios de la cultura Judía europea y su culto a la vida. Asimismo, en continuidad con un artículo y ponencia anteriormente presentado en este congreso, se inicia una tarea de comparación con la imagen corporal y marcial del soldado alemán, típica y coincidente con muchos modos del ser corporal en la formación militar europea y la de algunos grupos juveniles de la época, en particular, la de jóvenes júdios y deportistas en la República Argentina
