Estudo cefalométrico comparativo dos traçados predictivos e resultados ortodôntico-cirúrgicos em pacientes com face longa

The purpose of this research was to compare, by cephalometric analysis (McNamara and Legan & Burstone) the predictive tracings (by methods manual, and by softwares Dentofacial Planner Plus and Dolphin Image) with the post surgical results. Were selected the pre and post surgical lateral telerradiograph (six months after orthognatic surgery) of the 25 long face patients treated with combined orthognatic surgery. Were made the prediction tracings for each method and comparing cephalometrically with the post surgical results. This protocol was repeated once more for the error method evaluation, and the statistical was made by variance analysis and Tuckey overtest. The results show more frequency of the cephalometric values' aproximation of the post surgical results when the manual method (50% of the similarity with the post surgical result), followed of the DFPlus (31,2%) and Dolphin (18,8%) softwares. The experimental condition permits to conclude that the manual method had more precision, although the previsibility of the digital methods was reasonable satisfactory.

Conhecimento de cárie dental e doença periodontal de professores do ensino fundamental segundo o tipo de instituição (pública ou privada)

Aim: observe the knowledge of dental caries and periodontal disease of primary schoolteachers, according to type of institution (public and private) from Araraquara city. methodology: for that participants were 113 teachers from public schools and 57 from private schools. The instrument of analysis was based on a questionnaire with closed and open questions concerning the etiology, prevention and development of dental caries and periodontal disease. Results: 97,3% of public ́s schoolteachers and 91,2% of private ́s schoolteachers answered that they knows what is dental caries, but they didn ́t answer correctly about the caries etiology as being multifactorial and about methods of prevention. Both of schoolteachers (public and private) had more sucessful when answered about bacterial plaque than periodontal disease and yours manifestation. Conclusion: the dental knowledge of schoolteachers in public and private school was evaluated and limited educational programs should be directed to both public and private schoolteachers, in order to increase the level of dental knowledge of them, so that they can act as educational agents with the children.

The present study represents a qualitative thesis, characterized as a case study, which uses the method of the present approach. In addressing the academic home in physical education, there is the constancy of the discussions regarding the curriculum and professional formatting. In view of the curriculum modifications to fit the new legislation, and the fact they are few studies related to private institutions that offer such courses, which offer even greater number of courses when compared to public institutions aimed to investigate and analyze the professional profiles, curricular goals and flows contained in the pedagogical projects of courses bachelor degree in physical education and a private institution of higher education of the State of São Paulo, as well as verifying the existence and adequacy of articulation to the institutional educational project and the institutional development plan. Compounding the literature review discussed the key historical facts relating to courses in physical education in our country, and its path to the current model. Also presented was the law of physical education courses in force in Brazil and some concepts about teaching course projects and their relationship to other institutional documents. Techniques were used to review and document analysis, with primary source documents of their own and other government institution. It found a lack of interest of some private institutions of higher education in official documents available for this type of research, which is bad since there are more courses offered by them compared to public institutions. As for the degree course for training teachers of physical education, found lack of specificity regarding the differentiation between content and the bachelor, which ends up deviating from the expectations contained in the course to the one presented in the curriculum. Magnetic Purification of Curcumin from Curcuma longa Rhizome by Novel Naked Maghemite Nanoparticles

Naked maghemite nanoparticles, namely, surface active maghemite nanoparticles (SAMNs), characterized by a diameter of about 10 nm, possessing peculiar colloidal stability, surface chemistry, and superparamagnetism, present fundamental requisites for the development of effective magnetic purification processes for biomolecules in complex matrices. Polyphenolic molecules presenting functionalities with different proclivities toward iron chelation were studied as probes for testing SAMN suitability for magnetic purification. Thus, the binding efficiency and reversibility on SAMNs of phenolic compounds of interest in the pharmaceutical and food industries, namely, catechin, tyrosine, hydroxytyrosine, ferulic acid, coumaric acid, rosmarinic acid, naringenin, curcumin, and cyanidin-3-glucoside, were evaluated. Curcumin emerged as an elective compound, suitable for magnetic purification by SAMNs from complex matrices. A combination of curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, and bis-demethoxycurcumin was recovered by a single magnetic purification step from extracts of Curcuma longa rhizomes, with a purity >98% and a purification yield of 45%, curcumin being >80% of the total purified curcuminoids.

The aim of this research was to verify the accuracy of the prediction trace. Records in 15 patients admitted for orthognathic surgical treatment were analysed. Predictive and postoperative positíons of maxilla were compared with linear measurements. Statistically significant difference between predicted and postoperative position were demonstrated, but the prediction trace revealed to be very useful to help in decision of direction of movements, easy to do at low cost
