O presente trabalho consiste em um projeto de intervenção na área de HIPERDIA, para incentivar o vínculo dos pacientes junto à unidade de saúde da família. O campo de intervenção será o Programa de Saúde da Família Vilarejo, no município de Cruz das Almas, Bahia, que possui aproximadamente quatro mil pessoas cadastradas. Trata-se de um projeto observacional que tem como objetivo a implementação de um grupo de HIPERDIA em uma unidade de saúde no município supracitado, visando aumentar a qualidade de vida desses pacientes. Serão realizadas atividades educativas sobre temas relacionados à hipertensão e diabetes. Com a implantação do projeto, espera-se que haja um aumento significativo da adesão ao programa, ao tratamento medicamentoso, assim como mudança no estilo de vida e troca de experiências dos participantes.

O presente trabalho teve como proposta analisar a linha guia como suporte para planejamento da atenção à saude do idoso, tendo como objetivo analisar a assistência prestada ao idoso, realçando as principais patologias que afetam essa faixa etária. A metodologia da pesquisa refere-se a uma revisão bibliográfica. A busca dos dados foi realizada a partir da base de dados LILACS, SCIELO, MEDLINE e BVS de acordo com os descritores: Atenção Integral à Saúde do Idoso, envelhecimento e qualidade de vida. Os artigos incluidos foram aqueles publicados na base de dados LILACS, SCIELO, MEDLINE e BVS. O aumento da população idosa exige tanto dos gestores da área da saúde, como dos técnicos auxiliares e seus familiares uma mudança expressiva no cuidado com essas pessoas para que as mesmas ao envelhecerem tenham também qualidade de vida. Uma vez que envelhecer não significa adoecer. Portanto, o envelhercimento precisa ser encarado como algo natural e ser visto de forma tranqüila buscando sempre lançar mão dos cuidados necessários com acompanhamento médico para diagnosticar a tempo os problemas que poderão surgir à medida que a pessoa envelhece.

O suporte assistencial domiciliar possibilita conhecer a realidade e as dificuldades enfrentadas pelas mães no cuidado com o recém-nascido e no seu autocuidado. Este trabalho teve o objetivo de apresentar uma proposta de intervenção para o suporte domiciliar as mães situadas na microárea 7 do município de Contagem. Para que essas ações fossem viabilizadas, identificamos quatro "nós críticos", a saber: educação permanente em saúde com foco na assistência materno-infantil; suporte social; dificuldade de acesso das puérperas até a unidade básica de saúde; implementação da "Primeira Semana"- saúde integral. Após a identificação dessas fragilidades foi proposto intervenções respeitando às singularidades, complexidades da microárea, bem como das mães. No entanto, fica a consideração de que há grande necessidade de maior reflexão sobre como otimizar as visitas domiciliares para que estas sejam um meio eficiente de promover a saúde, embora não haja dúvidas de que ela é um importante instrumento qualificador da assistência

O município de Contagem encontra-se na região da grande Belo Horizonte com a qual forma uma conurbação. Grande parte da população depende do Sistema único de saúde. A população atendida pelo PSF (Programa de Saúde da Família) Novo Progresso II, onde se pretende realizar o projeto de intervenção, possui poder aquisitivo restrito e a infraestrutura local para a prática de esportes e lazer também são escassas. O problema escolhido para intervir foi o elo da cadeia dislipidemia/obesidade/sedentarismo, no qual aceita-se a ideia de que grande parte dos dislipidêmicos atendidos são influenciados pelo sedentarismo e por hábitos alimentares ruins. Este estudo se caracteriza como um projeto de intervenção que tem como objetivo propor um plano de ação para o enfrentamento do problema de dislipidemia dos usuários residentes na área de abrangência Unidade de Saúde da Família 39 (ESF 39), no Município de Contagem/MG. Como estratégia para intervir neste problema pretende-se realizar campanha de orientação e conscientização da população para adoção de hábitos alimentares bons, com diminuição da ingesta de lipídios e carboidratos em excesso, e fornecer a prática regular de exercícios. A orientação nutricional será realizada nas dependências do PSF Novo Progresso II e contará com o recurso humano dos profissionais que lá trabalham, além de nutricionista vinculada ao NASF (Núcleo de Apoio à Saúde da Família). Como forma de mensurar o impacto da intervenção, durante 01 (um) dia do mês de março e 01 dia do mês de maio realizaremos pesagem de todos os pacientes integrantes, e a mensuração de seus dados antropométricos será realizado pela nutricionista. Espera-se com esse projeto de intervenção a conscientização da população atendida quanto à importância de se cultivar bons hábitos alimentares e de prática de exercícios regulares, além da melhora de seus parâmetros laboratoriais (perfil lipídico) e Índice de Massa Corporal (IMC).

Brain death results in the breakdown of effective central regulatory mechanisms of cardiocirculatory stability, even in patients with artificial mechanical ventilation, correction of electrolytic and acid-basic disorders and maximal conventional pharmacological support of the circulation. Recent evidences have shown that the fall of vasopressin levels in the blood circulation significantly influences the cardiocirculatory stability of patients with brain death, and its exogenous administration is defended by many authors for the management of multiorgan donor patients. In this brief review we analyse and discuss some experimental and clinical relevant studies about the role of vasopressin in the control of cardiocirculatory stability in brain death, and its potential usefulness in the management of multiorgan donor. We conclude that the role of vasopressin in the pathophysiology of brain death and its usefulness as a pharmacological agent in the management of multiorgan donor are not well elucidated, deserving further investigations.

Sugarcane holds an important place in the Brazilian economy. Grate part of the sugarcane harvested still accomplished largely manually. Sugarcane harvesters available in Brazil use the technology to chop the cane into 200 to 300 mm billets to allow on the go cane transferring to transport, contradicting the traditional method of whole stalk sugarcane harvesting system. In order to make whole stalk mechanical harvesting system possible, one of the barriers to be expired is the mechanical removal of the straw. The design of a mechanism that accomplishes this operation depends directly on the knowledge of the mechanical properties of the sugarcane related to its resistance to compression and the forces necessary to remove the leaves from the stalk. Compression tests were conducted using the universal testing machine. For leaves removal test by friction, a special apparatus was designed to allow the registration of the normal and traction force. The sugarcane stalk can resist up to 4.9 MPa. With a normal pressure of 0.8 MPa, which correspond to a friction force of 315 N, it is possible to remove the leaves, independent of its location in the sugarcane stalk.

This work approaches the forced air cooling of strawberry by numerical simulation. The mathematical model that was used describes the process of heat transfer, based on the Fourier's law, in spherical coordinates and simplified to describe the one-dimensional process. For the resolution of the equation expressed for the mathematical model, an algorithm was developed based on the explicit scheme of the numerical method of the finite differences and implemented in the scientific computation program MATLAB 6.1. The validation of the mathematical model was made by the comparison between theoretical and experimental data, where strawberries had been cooled with forced air. The results showed to be possible the determination of the convective heat transfer coefficient by fitting the numerical and experimental data. The methodology of the numerical simulations was showed like a promising tool in the support of the decision to use or to develop equipment in the area of cooling process with forced air of spherical fruits.

Base cutting and feeding into harvesters of plants lying close to the ground surface require an efficient sweeping action of the cutting mechanism. It is not the case of conventional sugarcane harvesters which have rigid blades mounted on discs capable to contaminate the cane with dirt as well as damage the ratoons. The objective of this work was to simulate the sweeping performance of a segmented base cutter. The model was developed using the laws of dynamic. Simulation included two rotational speeds (400 and 600 rpm), two cutting heights (0.12 and 0.13 m) and two disk tilting angles (-10º and -12º). The simulated sweeping angle varied between 56º and 193º, which are very promising as a mean to cutting and feeding cane sticks lying on the ground. Cutting height was the variable that affected sweeping action the most. This behavior indicates the need to have an automatic control of the cutting disk height in order to keep good sweeping performance as the harvester moves forward.

Nowadays the consumer market demands a gradually increase in the products' quality control. The manual control that exits, used in animal production, shows ineficiency in warrating an increasing percentual of the desirable quality, so this can only be reached when an effective animal tracebility system is applied, from birth to slaughter. Individual electronic identification presents high importance in this focus, providing information recorded directly from the animal. Electronic traceability uses electronic devices that emit a signal activated by a fixed reader placed where it is needed to record a certain event, or uses a manual reader which allows a higher independence of the operator. Knowing the importance of the electronic identification as a tool for applying traceability in animal production, this research had as objective to evaluate the use of transponders in order to garantee the manual reading as well as the fixed antenna reading. The following implant places were analized in piglet, just after their birth: 1) forehead, 2) external ear lobule, 3) the posterior auricular base, and 4) a transponder inserted in a earing implanted in the ear lobule. The factors of skin damage and migration were analized, as well as the reading efficiency. It was found that the best implant place was the posterior ear base.

Fresh tomato harvest is traditionally made without harvesting aids. The main goal of this research was to evaluate performance parameters of fresh tomato harvesting aid equipment and compare it to traditional harvest, in the state of São Paulo. Therefore, an equipment was developed and the harvest process was evaluated in four different ways: traditional system (harvest system used in Santa Luzia farm, Brotas, SP, Brazil), picker walking with a harvesting aid equipment, picker seated in a harvesting aid equipment and a composition of both systems: two pickers seated and one picker walking in two different velocities ranges. The different systems using harvesting aid showed an average yield by picker more efficient than reference. Harvest system using three pickers showed an increase of 290% on yield average by picker, on the range of 0.5-1.0 fruit per plant, followed by the systems with a walking picker, that increased productivity in 41%, and picker seated harvester, that showed an increase of 35%. These results demonstrate the importance of using a harvesting aid equipment.

Behavioral adjustments may occur fast and with less cost than the physiological adaptations. Considering the social behavior is suggestive that the frequency and the intensity of aggressive interactions, the total social cohesion and the extent of vicious attitudes may be used to evaluate welfare. This research presents an analysis of the interactions between the experimental factors such as temperature, genetic and time of the day in the behavior of female broiler breeders under controlled environment in a climatic chamber in order to enhance the different reaction of the birds facing distinct environmental conditions. The results showed significant differences between the behaviors expressed by the studied genetics presenting the need of monitoring them in real-time in order to predict their welfare in commercial housing, due to the complexity of the environmental variables that interfere in the well being process. The research also concluded that the welfare evaluation of female broiler breeders needs to consider the time of the day during the observation of the behaviors.

The objective of this study was to quantify the effect of plonk on compressive behavior and mechanical attributes such as consistency, optimum moisture for compaction and maximum density of a Red-Yellow Latosol (Oxisol) to evaluate the effect of plonk and compaction state in splashed particles, from Lavras (MG) region. The plonk was obtained from an artisanal sugarcane brandy alembic. Undisturbed and disturbed soil samples were collected at 0 to 3 cm and 60 to 63 cm depths. Disturbed soil samples were used for soil characterization, determination of consistence limits and Normal Proctor essay after material incubation with plonk. Undisturbed soil samples were saturated with plonk or distilled water (control) during 48 hours for testing the compressibility and resistance to splash by using simulated rainfall. The plonk altered the consistence limits of studied layers. For the 0-3 cm layer, the plonk reduced the friable range, and for the 60-63 cm layer the effect was in the opposite direction. For both layers, the plonk increased Dmax and decreased Uoptimum. Regardless of the plonk treatment, both layers presented the same load support capacity. The compaction degree of samples influenced the splash erosion. The increase of the applied pressure over the samples resulted in increase of splash material quantity. At the 60-63 cm layer, the plonk treatment reduced the splash material quantity by increasing the applied pressure, mainly when the samples were at field capacity.
