The catalyst structure of Ti(OBu)4-AlEt3 at different Al/Ti ratios before and after heat aging has been investigated from the data of UV, GC-MS, ESR and C-13 NMR spectra. The complex compounds formed by HTiEt2 and AlEt2(OBu) exist mainly in the catalyst solution, and no -OBu ligands linking with Ti atoms can be found at an Al/Ti ratio of four before heat aging. Many kinds of catalytic species with different size are formed after heat aging the catalyst at 110-degrees-C for 2 h. Dehydrogenation, accompanied by the valence change from Ti3+ to Ti2+, is observed during the aging process of the catalyst.

The coupling selectivity was greatly enhanced by adding Li to La2O3, compared with the single La2O3. The O2- species was found on the Li/La2O3 but not on the single La2O3. In low-temperature desorption, ethane desorbed from the Li/La2O3 but was not detected with the single La2O3. It is considered that the addition of Li gave rise to some basic sites which are favorable for the coupling reaction.

A series of potassium-promoted CoMo/Al2O3 has been investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and temperature-programmed reduction (TPR). CoMoO4 was found in the CoMo/Al2O3 catalyst by XRD and is destroyed by the presence of potassium. The reducibility of molybdenum is enhanced by potassium in the CoMoK/Al2O3 catalyst and is easier to reduce to Mo(IV) during sulfidation. In the oxidic state catalyst cobalt is increased on the surface by the addition of potassium. After sulfidation this phenomena disappeared, the distribution of cobalt remains at a constant level and is unaffected by the potassium content. The addition of potassium leads to a monotonical decrease of the molybdenum dispersion with the impregnating amount of potassium in the oxidic state catalyst but is more complicated after sulfidation. Potassium is well dispersed on the surface in both the oxidic and sulfided state. The activity in the water-gas shift reaction was correlated with the potassium content of CoMoK/Al2O3.

The hydrogenation of alkali metals using lanthanide trichloride and naphthalene as catalyst has been studied. LnCl3(Ln = La, Nd, Sm, Dy, Yb) and naphthalene can catalyze the hydrogenation of sodium under atmospheric pressure and 40-degrees-C to form sodium hydride. The activities of lanthanide trichlorides are in the following order: LaCl3 > NdCl3 > SmCl3 > DyCl3 > YbCl3. Although lithium proceeds in the same catalytic reaction, the kinetic curve of the lithium hydrogenation is different from that of sodium. Lanthanide trichlorides display no catalytic effect on the hydrogenation of potassium in presence of naphthalene. The mechanism of this reaction has been studied and it is suggested that the anion-radical of alkali metal naphthalene complexes may be the intermediate for the hydrogenation of alkali metals and the function of LnCl3 is to catalyze the hydrogenation of the intermediate. The products are porous solids with high specific surface area (83 m2/g for NaH) and pyrophoric in air. They are far more active than the commercial alkali metal hydrides. The combination of these hydrides with some transition metal complexes exhibits high catalytic activity for the hydrogenation of olefins.

Proteins of the DYRK (dual-specificity tyrosine-phosphorylation-regulated kinase) family are characterized by the presence of a conserved kinase domain and N-terminal DH box. DYRK2 is involved in regulating key developmental and cellular processes, such as neurogenesis, cell proliferation, cytokinesis, and cellular differentiation. Herein, we report that the ortholog of DYRK2 found in zebrafish shares about 70% identity with that of human, mouse, and chick. RT-PCR showed that DYRK2 is expressed maternally and zygotically. In-situ hybridization results show that DYRK2 is expressed in somite cells that will develop into muscles. Our results provide preliminary evidence for investigating the in-vivo function of DYRK2 in zebrafish muscle development.

A new ocean wave and sea surface current monitoring system with horizontally-(HH) and vertically-(VV) polarized X-band radar was developed. Two experiments into the use of the radar system were carried out at two sites, respectively, for calibration process in Zhangzi Island of the Yellow Sea, and for validation in the Yellow Sea and South China Sea. Ocean wave parameters and sea surface current velocities were retrieved from the dual polarized radar image sequences based on an inverse method. The results obtained from dual-polarized radar data sets acquired in Zhangzi Island are compared with those from an ocean directional buoy. The results show that ocean wave parameters and sea surface current velocities retrieved from radar image sets are in a good agreement with those observed by the buoy. In particular, it has been found that the vertically-polarized radar is better than the horizontally-polarized radar in retrieving ocean wave parameters, especially in detecting the significant wave height below 1.0 m.

The addition of reducible metal oxides as promoters shows a positive effect on the catalytic behavior of lanthanum vanadate (LaVO4). A C3H6 yield increase of 6.5% is observed at 500 degreesC on molybdenum-promoted LaVO4, which can be attributed to the change of the redox properties, the blocking of the strong oxidation sites of the catalysts and to an increase of the accessibility of the labile oxygen toward the reactant. The influence of the catalyst preparation method and of the Mo loading as well as the additional promoting effect of CO2 in the gas feed was also examined.

Microwave effects have been shown to promote the activation of NOx molecules in the process of selective reduction of NO by CH4 over an In-Fe2O3/HZSM-5 catalyst and to enhance the water tolerance of this catalyst for NO reduction.
