O corpo do corpo de Arnaldo Antunes: representação sígnica dialógica

This article talks about the relationship between the body and sign, from the ideas of the Bakhtin Circle. The corpus analyzed is the spectacle Body (2000), designed from a disk of the same title (2000), by Arnaldo Antunes (AA). The aim is to reflect on the expressiveness of the body as a sign and the signic body, since the dialogue between the word (the song) and the body in action makes up the human architectural spectacle.

Gonçalves Dias, o índio e a liberdade

This article presents a reading of the poem “O canto do guerreiro” written by Antonio Gonçalves Dias. The aim is to show the existence of a dialogue between the literary‘representation of the Brazilian‘indigenous and the concept of natural man, by Jean Jacques Rousseau. Going beyond a reading upon a romantic nationalism view, such dialogue makes explicit the poet’ conscience of his hole in Brazilian Romanticism and, at same time, gives a universal dimension to his poetic work.

Ophthalmic parameters in adult Shih Tzu dogs

Ocular surface diseases are often diagnosed in brachycephalic dogs. The ophthalmic parameters of the Shih Tzu dogs are evaluated in this study since this breed is among the most commonly affected by these diseases. In this study, ophthalmic parameters of this breed were partly studied under physical restraint. Schirmer tear test, breakup time test, aesthesiometry, biomicroscopy, non-contact specular microscopy, laser flaremetry, applanation tonometry, ultrasonography and ophthalmoscopy were carried in 48 eyes of 24 male and female dogs, aged from two to four years, weighing between 5 and 10kg. All dogs were from a breeding kennel. Descriptive statistics were applied to the data. Mean and standard error for Schirmer tear test was 26.145±0.803mm min-1; breakup time test, 13.668±0.538s; and aesthesiometry, 2.395±0.071cm. The biomicroscopy evaluation showed that 70.83% of the eyes had medial entropion; 42% caruncular trichiasis; 33% distichiasis, 27% mild paracentral corneal opacity; and 13% corneal melanosis. Mean and standard error for endothelial cell density was 2221.591±20.161cells mm-2; endothelial cell hexagonality, 63.770±1.805%; endothelial cell area, 451.895±4.179mm2; central corneal thickness, 0.490±0.007 mm; laser flaremetry, 1.720±0.216PC ms-1; applanation tonometry, 16.118±0.460mmHg; axial length, 20.255±0.134mm; lens thickness, 6.624±0.031mm; anterior chamber, 4.064±0.109mm; and vitreous chamber, 9.565±0.054mm. Ophthalmoscopy findings were not different from previous reports for other breeds. The results showed that the ophthalmic Shih Tzu parameters did not differ from other breeds according to data in the literature, except for the breakup time and Cochet-Bonnet aesthesiometry.

Anum não canta em gaiola: estudo sobre as relações entre educação em arte-cultura e privação de liberdade

Este estudo buscou compreender traços da trajetória histórica e filiações teóricas na construção da Fundação CASA, logo, no significado da privação de liberdade em medidas socioeducativas. A partir disto, refletimos sobre o modo como as práticas educacionais artístico-culturais, aparecem enquanto elementos desestabilizadores da ordem, confrontando e sendo confrontadas pela lógica persecutória, comportamentalista e punitiva, inerentes ao ambiente carcerário. Neste contexto, a pesquisa investigou a tensa relação entre o canto do anum e as gaiolas, ou seja, a educação em arte-cultura e a privação de liberdade. Para tanto, realizamos um estudo bibliográfico que colocou em diálogo: documentos institucionais como o Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente - ECA, o Sistema Nacional de Atendimento Socioeducativo - SINASE e Regimento Interno da Fundação CASA; com produções teóricas que permitiram a reflexão e auxiliou na compreensão da complexidade destas relações como, Loïc Wacquant, Michel Foucault e Roberto da Silva, sobre o sistema carcerário; Stuart Hall, Frantz Fanon e Muniz Sodré, sobre identidade cultural e cultura negra; Paulo Freire e Boaventura de Souza Santos sobre educação, e por fim, nossas memórias enquanto arte-educador que, há mais de dez anos, atua diretamente com adolescentes em diversas unidades desta instituição. Enfim, buscamos responder a inquietação central deste trabalho: Como se dão os movimentos de captura e esquiva entre arte-cultura e privação de liberdade? Com a intenção de contribuir com processos de reflexão e construção de práticas educacionais direcionadas aos adolescentes encarcerados

Genomic alterations in patients showing multiple primary tumors and family history of cancer

Multiple primary tumors (MPT) are a major cause of mortality and morbidity among patients that have survived after the treatment of a first cancer. It has been proposed that after the first primary tumor, high risk of a subsequent tumor could be associated with radiotherapy used as treatment for the first cancer. Other potential risk factors include unhealthy lifestyle, genetic predisposition, aging, environmental determinants or an interaction between these factors. However, an association between the presence of MPT and family history of cancer in cases without clinical and molecular evidence of a known hereditary cancer syndrome is rarely described. Genomic DNA from 12 patients with at least two primary tumors and without mutations on TP53 was evaluated by CytoScan HD Array (Affymetrix). Chromosome Analysis Suite (ChAS) software v.2.0.1 was used considering at least 50 markers for gains; 25 for losses and a minimum of 5Mb for cnLOHs. Data from 1038 phenotypically healthy individuals (Affymetrix) and from Database of Genomic Variants were used as reference. Only alterations found in <1% (rare) or never described (new rare) in the reference population were considered. All cases, except one, presented a family history of cancer. Five cases developed MTP after radiotherapy and only one was located in the same treated area. It was detected 67 rare and 15 new rare genomic alterations encompassing 5.906 genes: 17 losses, 29 gains, and 36 cnLOH. X chromosome presented the higher number of alterations. Two patients with breast cancer presented a large deletion/cnLOH on 7q21. Enrichment analysis revealed 1275 genes associated with breast cancer (p= 0.001), which was diagnosed in 6 patients and their family members (all negative for BRCA1/2 or TP53 mutations). cnLOHs accounted for 44% of all the alterations. A significant proportion of cases (11/12) presented family history of cancer and the patients were not submitted to radiotherapy (7/12). We demonstrated the presence of rare genomic alterations in patients with MPT suggesting their involvement in the MPT development. cnLOH may arise as a new mechanism associated with the risk to develop MPT. The dissatisfaction of the treatment with mandibular complete dentures in edentulous patients has been a constant problem in Dentistry. Often, the absence of stability and retention, resultants of a physiologic condition and alveolar ridge resorption, bring reduction of chewing force, speech problems and social life interference. In these cases, the rehabilitation over osseointegrated implants can be an effective and safe alternative of treatment. When it is not possible to put implants in appropriate number and disposition, it is necessary to make a simple and low costing prosthetic planning, which makes resurge the overdentures. Various implant supported attachment systems for overdentures have been developed in the dental market. Thus, intending to facilitate the professional choice, this study review the literature about attachment systems O’ring and bar- clip in its following aspect: retention level, stress distribution, hygiene complications and patient satisfaction.
