Literature review on permanent magnet generators design and dynamic behavior

This paper is a literature review which describes the construction of state of the art of permanent magnet generators and motors constructing and discusses the current and possible application of these machines in industry. Permanent magnet machines are a well-know class of rotating and linear electric machines used for many years in industrial applications. A particular interest for permanent magnet generators is connected with wind mills, which seem to be becoming increasingly popular nowadays. Geared and direct-driven permanent magnet generators are described. A classification of direct-driven permanent magnet generators is given. Design aspects of permanent magnet generators are presented. Permanent magnet generators for wind turbines designs are highlighted. Dynamics and vibration problems of permanent magnet generators covered in literature are presented. The application of the Finite Element Method for mechanical problems solution in the field of permanent magnet generators is discussed.

Anàlisi i disseny d'una aplicació gestora de curses via GPS per a dispositius mòbils amb SO Android

Aquest treball consisteix en analitzar la viabilitat d'una aplicació gestora de curses via GPS per a dispositius Android i, en cas afirmatiu, desenvolupar-ne un prototip. Per tal d'aconseguir-ho, es passa per una sèrie de fases d'estudi de l'aplicació i d'aprenentatge en la implementació.

Nanoparticle Labels in Bioaffinity Assays

Nanoparticles offer adjustable and expandable reactive surface area compared to the more traditional solid phase forms utilized in bioaffinity assays due to the high surface to-volume ratio. The versatility of nanoparticles is further improved by the ability to incorporate various molecular complexes such as luminophores into the core. Nanoparticle labels composed of polystyrene, silica, inorganic crystals doped with high number of luminophores, preferably lanthanide(III) complexes, are employed in bioaffinity assays. Other label species such as semiconductor crystals (quantum dots) or colloidal gold clusters are also utilized. The surface derivatization of such particles with biomolecules is crucial for the applicability to bioaffinity assays. The effectiveness of a coating is reliant on the biomolecule and particle surface characteristics and the selected coupling technique. The most critical aspects of the particle labels in bioaffinity assays are their size-dependent features. For polystyrene, silica and inorganic phosphor particles, these include the kinetics, specific activity and colloidal stability. For quantum dots and gold colloids, the spectral properties are also dependent on particle size. This study reports the utilization of europium(III)-chelate-embedded nanoparticle labels in the development of bioaffinity assays. The experimental covers both the heterogeneous and homogeneous assay formats elucidating the wide applicability of the nanoparticles. It was revealed that the employment of europium(III) nanoparticles in heterogeneous assays for viral antigens, adenovirus hexon and hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), resulted in sensitivity improvement of 10-1000 fold compared to the reference methods. This improvement was attributed to the extreme specific activity and enhanced monovalent affinity of the nanoparticles conjugates. The applicability of europium(III)-chelate-doped nanoparticles to homogeneous assay formats were proved in two completely different experimental settings; assays based on immunological recognition or proteolytic activity. It was shown that in addition to small molecule acceptors, particulate acceptors may also be employed due to the high specific activity of the particles promoting proximity-induced reabsorptive energy transfer in addition to non-radiative energy transfer. The principle of proteolytic activity assay relied on a novel dual-step FRET concept, wherein the streptavidin-derivatized europium(III)-chelate-doped nanoparticles were used as donors for peptide substrates modified with biotin and terminal europium emission compliant primary acceptor and a secondary quencher acceptor. The recorded sensitized emission was proportional to the enzyme activity, and the assay response to various inhibitor doses was in agreement with those found in literature showing the feasibility of the technique. Experiments regarding the impact of donor particle size on the extent of direct donor fluorescence and reabsorptive excitation interference in a FRET-based application was conducted with differently sized europium(III)-chelate-doped nanoparticles. Desenvolupament d'una aplicació Android per gestionar rutes de Bicing

En aquest projecte es presenta el desenvolupament d'un sistema integrat per facilitar i incentivar l'ús dels serveis de bicicletes públiques. Seguint una arquitectura client/servidor, l'aplicació és capaç de proporcionar les millors rutes en bicicleta que connectin dos punts de la ciutat. A més, l'aplicació agrega informació que les empreses gestores dels serveis públics d'aquest mitjà de transport posen a disposició dels seus clients. Tot i que de moment l'aplicació es centra en el servei de Bicing de la ciutat de Barcelona, no es descarta la seva ampliació a altres ciutats del món.

Projecte d'aplicació de dispositius mòbils Android : seguiment de pacients a distància

El projecte consisteix en una aplicació per a realitzar el seguiment de pacients a distància, evitant així desplaçaments innecessaris al centre de salut. Està format per una pàgina web, on el personal sanitari gestiona el sistema, i una aplicació Android, que és la que fa servir el pacient. El personal sanitari introdueix la medicació, les visites o les tasques periòdiques a fer pel pacient al sistema. El pacient consulta la informació en l’aplicació del seu mòbil, rebent avisos de recordatori i amb la possibilitat enviar respostes als formularis creats per el personal sanitari de manera periòdica.

Control doméstico visual desde Android : VisualDomo

VisualDomo tiene como objetivo la creación de una aplicación multiplataforma para dispositivos móviles que permita controlar de manera visual los dispositivos ODControl de la empresa OpenDomo Services SL. El proyecto está desarrollado utilizando HTML, CSS y JavaScript con el soporte de Cordova.

Mobile Subscription Acquisition and Retention Costs - An Actvity-Based Model

The objective of this master’s thesis was to develop a model for mobile subscription acquisition cost, SAC, and mobile subscription retention cost, SRC, by applying activity-based cost accounting principles. The thesis was conducted as a case study for a telecommunication company operating on the Finnish telecommunication market. In addition to activity-based cost accounting there were other theories studied and applied in order to establish a theory framework for this thesis. The concepts of acquisition and retention were explored in a broader context with the concepts of customer satisfaction, loyalty and profitability and eventually customer relationship management to understand the background and meaning of the theme of this thesis. The utilization of SAC and SRC information is discussed through the theories of decision making and activity-based management. Also, the present state and future needs of SAC and SRC information usage at the case company as well as the functions of the company were examined by interviewing some members of the company personnel. With the help of these theories and methods it was aimed at finding out both the theory-based and practical factors which affect the structure of the model. During the thesis study it was confirmed that the existing SAC and SRC model of the case company should be used as the basis in developing the activity-based model. As a result the indirect costs of the old model were transformed into activities and the direct costs were continued to be allocated directly to acquisition of new subscriptions and retention of old subscriptions. The refined model will enable managing the subscription acquisition, retention and the related costs better through the activity information. During the interviews it was found out that the SAC and SRC information is also used in performance measurement and operational and strategic planning. SAC and SRC are not fully absorbed costs and it was concluded that the model serves best as a source of indicative cost information. This thesis does not include calculating costs. Instead, the refined model together with both the theory-based and interview findings concerning the utilization of the information produced by the model will serve as a framework for the possible future development aiming at completing the model.

Consisteix en fer volar un avió agafant unes lletres que pengen en l'aire amb la finalitat de formar una paraula.

Regulatory framework of local citizen participation: Instruments of Direct and Participative Democracy in the Municipal Field

This article focuses on the analysis of the regulatory framework of citizen participation in the local government, which organises direct and participatory democracy at the local level, and identifies the laws and mechanisms through which the constitutional requirements for participation are accomplished. Mu nicipalities, the authority closest to citizens, are the best level of government since they directly involve civil society in the decision-making process experiencing the scope and appropriateness of the instruments by which it is channeled.

Venäläisten yritysten kansainvälistyminen

Tämän kandidaatintyön tavoitteena on selvittää ja analysoida venäläisten yritysten kansainvälistymistä investointien näkökulmasta. Aihetta tutkittiin Venäjältä ulospäin suuntautuneiden investointien valossa. Kansainvälistymistä analysoitiin konkreettisten yritysesimerkkien kautta. Työssä käytettiin lähteinä aikaisempia aiheesta tehtyjä tutkimuksia sekä esimerkkeinä olevien yritysten internetsivuja. Venäläisten yritysten kansainvälistyminen alkoi toden teolla vasta Neuvostoliiton hajoamisen jälkeen. Käytännössä yritysten kansainvälistyminen on lähtenyt kasvuun vasta 2000-luvulla. Viime vuosien aikana Venäjä on ollut yksi suurimmista ulospäin investoijista nousevien markkinatalouksien joukossa. Suurimmat Venäjältä ulospäin investoijat toimivat öljy- ja kaasuteollisuudessa sekä metalli- ja kaivosteollisuudessa. Kyseiset teollisuudenalat ovat riippuvaisia raaka-aineiden maailmanmarkkinahinnoista. Vuoden 2008 lopulla alkanut talouskriisi on alentanut raaka-aineiden hintoja ja näin vaikuttanut yritysten toimintaan. Yritykset ovat joutuneet talousvaikeuksiin, joka on vaikuttanut myös niiden investointeihin ulkomaille. Tällä hetkellä Venäjä on riippuvainen luonnonvaroihin perustuvista teollisuudenaloista, mutta tulevaisuudessa uusilla yrityksillä on mahdollisuuksia nousta kansainvälisien yritysten joukkoon. Raaka-aineiden hintojen kääntyessä jälleen nousuun myös luonnonvaroihin perustuvat yritykset tulevat nousemaan ahdingosta ja jatkamaan kansainvälistymistä.
